2nd guessing THV

Ok, so I made the switch from Kidani 2bdrm to a THV because well, I could! DH has always wanted to stay in THV and they were available so I took advantage. We usually rent a car so the transportation isn't an issue. I love that my 2 DSs can have there own room and my mom will get her own room too!
However, I failed to realize we will have a 20month old and a stroller to contend with. How annoying is having a toddler/stroller in a THV?

My DH told me to stop overthinking and that he'd just leave the stroller in the car. But I just keep looking at pictures with that l o n g staircase to the doorway!

Don't second guess your choice. You are going to LOVE staying in a THV! We stayed in one w/ my sister-in-law and her family on our last December trip and we both had strollers for our toddlers. When we returned from the parks, we just pushed our strollers under the THV and they were ready for us to use the next morning. We never found the staircase to be a problem and she has 2 little kids and I have three. Have a great trip!!!!

I'd say just leave it in the car---you won't need it in the THV. And it's just one flight of stairs. But if you want, I believe I saw some accessible THVs with ramps, maybe you could request one.

Seconding the "relax, you'll love it" message. We stayed at THV for six nights with our DD who was not quite 3, and DS who was 19 mos at the time. Definitely echo the leave the stroller in the car advice -- DS was not much of a burden up the steps, and DD actually did quite well walking.

The KttK cards are a bit challenging -- the treehouse card readers have a hinged cover to seal out tree debris. This does make it impossible to open the door with one hand -- trouble when you're carrying a sleeping infant.

But the accommodations, esp. the bathroom, make it well worth the climb!

We're going to be staying in one with our 13-month-old soon-- I'm not worried at all about this. We'll leave the stroller in the rental car, and we climb the stairs while carrying our DD all the time at home. Granted, it will be a longer set of stairs, but it doesn't seem like a big deal.

It's not that long of a staircase. You will love these villas. They are beyond awesome. Enjoy your vacation!

I agree with this. Stairs are an issue for me, but my family helped me, and staying in a THV over a long weekend with extended family was great for us.

Yes, this was one of my factors in switching resorts. I wasn't heart-set on AKV and when I saw THV available I knew it was the year to switch!

Just got back from THV request 7035, golf course view, right next to pool and walkway to SSR. The steps are really not bad, accomodations and location are unique and outstanding. You will love it there!!

We LOVE the THV's. We love the quaintness of feeling like you are the only ones there (we just did 10 nights at Christmas!). At the end of the day, it's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the parks and other people and feel like you are truly coming home. Like someone else said, I think everyone should try all of the resorts and decide for yourself. The real beauty of DVC is getting to try whichever resort you want and returning to those that you love, because there's always next trip! Now's the time to try it before the price goes up. If you don't love it, don't return, but at least you'll know for yourselves. We are one of the few who don't really care for BWV and we stayed in one of the great standard view rooms overlooking the bus stop, close to the stairs. It will probably be a long time before we return there, because we'd rather stay elsewhere, namely THV's!

I won't be of any help to you OP other than to stay I understand your dream to stay there. We have wanted to stay there since we first saw them (before they were actually what they are today) back in 1994. We want to stay there SO MUCH that we're considering doing the unthinkable (for the second time), a double split stay. That's 3 separate resorts, 3 check-ins and 2 moves. Yeah, we've done it before and it was a lot of moving and that was before we had kids and we were in our 20s w/ plenty of energy. BUt we want to stay there so badly and will be going to Hawaii in '14 so this is our ly shot until '16. DO IT! You've always wanted to. LEave the stroller in the car. You wouldn't take it up the stairs anyway unless you had an accessible ramp. I'd rather leave the ramp to those that really need it. Even then you won't want to. I have a 4 YO that will still be in a stroller at 5 when we get down there this fall and it's not going to keep me from my dream. And as PPs have said, many of those photos that make the stairs look daunting are taken from a low perspective. They really aren't that bad (having seen them in person).
