2nd Fantasmic! Fastpass questions

We will be at Disneyland this coming Sunday and are hoping to see the 2nd Fantasmic! show. I have 2 questions:

1. What time (approximately) should we try and pull our Fastpass to get the second show?

2. Where is the best place for us to be prior to the 2nd showing? I don't want to get stuck in the crowds leaving the 1st show, or any crowds from the fireworks. We don't necessarily need to see the fireworks, but want to be able to get to the Fastpass seating area for the 2nd show in plenty of time.

• July 22 (Saturday) at 9:30am they were distributing for 10:30pm. CM said they ran out of the 9pm at about 9am.
  
• July 29 (Saturday) when I got there and over to the distribution area at 11:15am they were already done for the day.
  
• August 5 at about 9:15am they were already distributing for 10:30pm.

Thanks, I had seen older info but I was hoping to hear some more recent experiences. That info is nearly 2mths old and before Fantasmic switched to weekends only.
Hoping someone who has been recently might be able to offer some current insights.

I went on August 24th, the parks opened at 9am that day and when I got to the machines at 9:50am they were already distributing for the second show. I think a majority of people on here opt to watch Fantasmic with a dining package so you might not have anyone with more recent experience. Keep in mind there is only one FP viewing section now, and as such there are less tickets distributed. If you are unsuccessful, you could aim to land a stand by viewing spot by hanging around the area after the fireworks.

I am one of those 'people on here' lol, we are doing the BB Pkg on the Saturday night but were thinking we may watch the 2nd show on the Sunday night as well perhaps as we won't be returning for many years after this. We have 8 days so we have the time to do it.
I am sort of thinking that you line up somewhere near the Mark Twain dock? If you want the FP seated area, like Symon seems to, then I imagine you are going to have to line up during the first Fantasmic, and fireworks??
If we try and watch the fireworks first on Main St then I gather we certainly aren't going to get the FP seated area and will have to take our chances in the standing area.

Thanks all for your replies! We aren't sure we need the seated area, we don't necessarily want to commit too much time to Fantasmic! My husband is just putting up with me to do this in the first place . We have seen it before (the old version) and we won't have any kids with us, just 2 adults, so we are OK with just an OK view. I wanted to make the most of our time. Do we need to be on the Frontierland/Adventureland/NOS side of the park before the fireworks to get to the 2nd Fantasmic! in time? Can we be riding BTMM or maybe POC before/during fireworks and then head to our location for F! fastpass seating?

BecAus - I will try and let you know how it goes for us pulling FP so you have an idea about when you need to pull yours a week later.

Yeah, if you want to hit the seated area for the second show I'd recommend being around the Mark Twain dock by the time the first Fantasmic is playing. You do wait in the Mark Twain dock, at that point there will likely not be an official line yet, but you will still have other guests making an unofficial line right outside the turnstiles. Yes, if you wait until the fireworks are over and then walk your way over you will likely lose the opportunity to land in the seated area. Keep in mind the seated area is a very small section.

If you are fine standing then you should be fine riding something and waiting until the fireworks are over. Just be aware of the foot traffic that will be heading in the Main Street direction once the fireworks are over.

We are here today, Sunday, 9/24, tried to pull passes at 9 am, but they were still distributing 9 pm passes. Rode jungle cruise and came back at 9:15 am and they were giving out passes for 10:30. Hope that helps

No. WOC and F! Fastpasses have to be pulled at the machines at this time.

I just wanted to tell you how well our fantasmic viewing went. We rode rides in tomorrwland until about 9:15. Then we headed to frontierland on the back trail. We had FP for big thunder and had planned to ride it during the fireworks, but my husband decided he was done with rides for the night so we looked to find where to line up with our FP for Fantasmic.

They were using the structure where you wait for the Mark twain and we were very near front of the line (got in line about 9:30) we could see the fireworks above big thunder mountain and also see one of the water screens at an angle. After fireworks we waited 10-15 minutes and they led us to our Fantasmic viewing spot. We were right in the center, on the other side of the rope separating us from the BB package, and 3 rows back. I couldn't have asked for a better view! I had originally booked a dining package, but decided I would rather spend the money on something else, so glad I did because I think I got the same view.

We did spend about an hour waiting from the time we got in line until the show started, but half of that was sitting in our spot, and it was so crowded in that area, I think just about everyone who was trying to see Fantasmic spent about that much time, no matter if they had a dining page, FP, or standby.
