Hi all,
Im so sorry for adding to my report earlier - you know how it is when your back @ work.
Dave has just gone off to Egypt with my brother - scuba diving as usual so I'm home alone with the dogs.
anyway...
The day finally arrived - I must admit I did not get much sleep - I was way too excited. I got up early - 7 ish and got showered and ready. Then I had to try and stir Dave. Normally I wouldn't even attempt it, but however today was special. He didn't dare lie in for fear I might actually explode if I did not get to the ship.
We ventured down for breakfast - Dave was releaved that this would be his last day of just toast- for on the magic argh well there mihht even be baked beans for his toast (wink wink, Sallie & Maryann)
We checked out of our hotel and around 10:30 and grabbed a taxi to the port. Talk about having butterflies.
Upon arriving we were given a boarding card -we had No.3. They were actually the same as the ones that they used in the carribean. If I had known that I would have brought my No2 one from last year
To be honest the whole waiting in the terminal is kind of a blur to me as I was just soooo excited. It was really great seeing Tif again. ( we cruised tigether last year)
after what seemed like an eternity we were able to board and we walked down the red carpet!!!
Once on aboard we went straight to the spa to make our reservations - I booked a scalp massage and blow dry for my night @ the monte carlo casino and dave actually booked a hair cut for that night. After the spa we went down to guest services and booked the wine tasting for the first sea day and martini tasting for the last.
We then decided to chill in the prom lounge and have a welcome on board cocktail (Strawberry daquari sp?) It was so good to be finally on the ship 18 months of planning was over and time for enjoying.
We decided to have lunch in Parrot Cay. We figured as everyone was boarding and being taken up straight to deck 9 it would be a lot quieter. It was and the other bonus you had a lot more room for your bags.
Lunch was finished by 1:30 and this meant we could go straight to our rooms. I had ordered Dave the Bon voyage package so we spent the rest of the afternoom chilliing and drinking the champgne. I must say that I was quite tiddly when it came to the life boat drill as you can probably see in the pic
After the drill we napped and changed for dinner. We had the 8:30 seating. In the past four cruises we had never had a problem with that seating and we were always out of the dining room by 10pm @ the latest. However this trip was bad. Our servers were nice people but not speedy. We had arranged to sit with fellow disboarders - which was great (thanks guys) we chatted a lot which was good as we were not eating. We did not get our main courses until gone 10. Sadly we missed the sailaway party. We did not leave the dining room until 10'50pm and it was nearly bed time!
