I just heard on the news that 25 US troops died today in Iraq in one of the bloodiest days during the war for the troops.

Regardless of your view on the war, I think we need to all say a prayer for these brave men and women and their families (and the countless others who have sacrificed their lives already and who are fighting over there).

:sad1: I don't know how much more of this I can take

I am worried. I have a co-worker whos in the guard flying blackhawks into baghdad. We have sent him emails (thats our only contact) but havent heard anything yet.

DS called me as soon as he heard about the crash. It happened in Baquba which is where he was stationed when he was in Iraq. Even now everytime I hear the word Baquba my blood runs cold. My prayers are with the families and soliders.

"No More" by Bob Seger
Are you sorry when the lights begin to fade
Are you sorry for the promises you made
for the burden of the ones who had to fall
When you didn't see the writing on the wall

It was forty years ago and I was young
and the jungle not the desert heard the guns
Someone said they had a secret plan
and the rest of us were told to understand

Well I don't want this, no I don't want this
I have had enough no more

Tomorrow is the price for yesterday
A billion waves won't wash the truth away
Someday you'll be ordered to explain
No one gets to walk between the rain
And I don't want this, no I don't want this
I have had enough no more
No I don't want this no I don't want this
I have had enough no more
No more

:sad1: My heart and prayers are with these brave soldiers (and families) who paid the ultimate price while volunteering to serve our country. Godspeed ^i^ with much appreciation for their sacrifice from a proud American.

My thoughts and prayers are with our Hero's and their families.

This is very sad.. My newphew is in Iraq. :( I am.. and always praying for those troops that lost their lives and their family/friends that they have left behind. Also... praying for the ones that are still there in Iraq.. especially my nephew Cpl Roy Villareal USMC

"Eternal Rest Grant Unto Them, O Lord, and Let Perpetual Light shine upon them. May they Rest in Peace."

I know not everyone here is a believer, but that's the first thing that came into my mind when I heard this news.

Your nephew will be in my prayers as well.

Heartbreaking, just heartbreaking. :sad1:

My father's an ex-Marine who did two tours in Viet Nam. There aren't many things that bring him to tears, but the tragic loss of his fellow soldiers has been weighing so very heavily on his mind as of late.

Regardless of one's position on the war or beliefs of a higher power, please say a prayer or take a brief moment to reflect on the ultimate sacrifices these men and women are making every single day. I for one, am not brave enough to walk a mile in their shoes, and I thank them over and over.

I did get an email from my co-worker and all is well with him. A great relief to us. I hope they get to come home soon!

My thoughts/prayers go out to the families. I am lucky right now as DH won't deploy again for a few months. Last years Afghanistan deployment was hard though since one of my little cousins (some of ya'll may remember him from my spider story) was killed in Iraq 3 days before my birthday. I wanted DH to come home (wasn't gonna happen of course) and I wanted to go home to FL to be with family but we couldn't afford it. I hope all the familiy members have someone close by to turn to when they get the news..getting it alone sucks.
