There has been a huge debate over whether or not FB will be the end of disboards meets.

Personally I will join the FB page, but i'll do my posting on disboards as it is a disboards meet. Our last cruise had a FB page and we encouraged any non disboarders to join disboards and they did. It did get confusing at times as some people only posted on FB.

We had FB on the last Transatlantic cruise and it was good. We did however do our postings on dis and also asked everyone to join if they had not. All activities had to be signed up for on Dis board. I can see where there could be some issues if some people didn't join disboard but I think it actually helped some people find and sign up for dis as well.

SECRET MICKEY

Please let me know if you are interested in the Secret Mickey. This is much like a Secret Santa at Christmas. It is a really fun activity, especially for the kids. Anyone wanting to sign up needs to send me by PM, your names, cabin # and some info about each person signing up.... info could be .. age (if a child), favorite character, color, interest, sports, etc... This gives your Secret Micky some idea of what to get for you.
I will close sign-ups for Secret Mickey on August 15th. This will give time for the names to be assigned and everyone to go shopping....

Good morning fellow cruisers!!!!

I love summers in Alaska--with over 15 hours of daylight and all of the amazing things to do outside, however I could go for some warmth and sunshine! It has been nothing but chilly and rainy so far this summer. We've had a chillier than usual summer, after all, there is still some snow on the mountains! If someone could please either send us some warmth or turn the clocks ahead to September, that would be awesome!

Ohh that weather sounds good to me! We should trade homes for a month or so in the summers.. I want to do one of the Alaska cruises. Have you done one yet? Just the saying Alaska makes me feel a little cooler. for a little warm weather for y'all.

We haven't done an AK cruise yet, but we are thinking about doing the last AK cruise next year followed by the west coast repo back to San Fran.

Don't get me wrong, I love the weather! It sure the beats the 100+ from Houston but I could use some temps above 50s.

Wow .. you are still below 50. Ok I have to admit... that's just too cold for me. I'll send you some and a little warmth from Texas. Now what's a Houston girl doing in Alaska? I know it is beautiful there but .... wayyyyy too cold.

I have started working on my FE gifts. I sure hope the list gets longer.

This cruise still has a about 35% of the cabins empty. I was hoping the Galveston cruises would sell. I would like to see them stay in Galveston for awhile.

We are in the 50s, hopefully back up to the 60s soon. We've a few days of 70 and more days 60s but we've have a lot of days in the 50s. The sun decided to make an appearance this morning!! Maybe a bike ride will be in order after church!

I'm hopinf to starting making FE gifts today, and i sure hope more people join our meet!

Speaking of a cruise meet, do we want to have a disboards meet whike cruising?

I have a tad bit more info on our cruise if anyone is interested.

formal night is 23rd
pirate night is 25th
semi formal night is 27th

So I changed my dummy date cruise to a real, we-will-keep-it date for a four day on the Dream for next summer. I'm super excited! Only drawback is I just paid off this one and now I have another final payment date hanging over my head. LOL

OK, as for the fish extender gifts, I'm not signed up to do this, but it sounds fun. My only reservation with it is that I work 50 plus hours per week and I'm recuperating from major surgery. I am a perfectionist and don't like to halfway do anything. I'm wondering if this would add stress. How many of these are homemade and how much time does it take? Any ideas of FE gifts that are not overly expensive and not homemade?

Fwiw, my FE gifts likely won't be handmade either. No talent or time for crafts being a "working housewife" but will figure something out

I have done both, purchased and home made, FE gifts. I think the purchased one are less stressful, and they can be inexpensive or expensive. The homemade variety tend to be more stressful and ca n go expensive or inexpensive. They are also more time consuming. Both types of gifts are special and enjoyed!

Homemade we have done-photo frames and this cruises (i'm not sharing what they are yet)
Purchased-keychains, magnets, pirate stuff.

Thanks for the info on the special nights. Yep.. it always help to know for booking Palo's.

As for the FE gifts I have made some and bought some too. My daughter ordered pirate playing cards for one of her cruises. Not sure how much they were but she said they were reasonable. Some people use candy. Point being you can buy or make. They are all special. We don't have many people on the list yet so I'm thinking it won't be expensive to participate.

Lisa !! Glad to have you on our cruise. How old is your grandson? Where are y'all from? I am Jill, from Fort Worth. Hubby and I are about your age. We have 8 grand-kids between us (me 5, him 3) and another on the way.
