DAY 20 - EPCOT - The Cheesecake Factory
Woke up this morning to an unusual rain storm, this was quite heavy and didn’t look like stopping soon.
We decided to head over to EPCOT and have brunch there. By the time we had parked the car, the rain had eased off to a slight drizzle, but we still wore our ponchos, as no tram was in sight and we were quite away from the park entrance. We entered the park around 10 o’clock and our first port of call was to collect Soarin’ fast passes. We then headed around the corner to ride Spaceship Earth. The lines were moving quite quickly and we were on the ride within 5 minutes.
As we came out of Spaceship Earth, the rain came again in anger, so out came the poncho’s once more. A quick stop off in Innoventions to hook up to the free wifi on my iPhone and then it was a tour of Mouse Gear. I quite like this shop, simply for the wide selection of merchandise and everything is well spread out. Thirty minutes later, we were ready to eat, so made our way across to Electric Umbrella. The selection available did not appeal to us, so we returned to our regular eating place at Sunshine Seasons.
Emma: Sweet & Sour Chicken with noodles & rice + Chocolate Cake + Monster energy drink.
Sue: Sweet & Sour Chicken with noodles & rice + Carrot Cake + Water
Nigel: Cashew Chicken with noodles & broccoli + Fruit Cup + Monster energy drink.
After our meal had settled, it was time to ride Soarin using our fast passes.
We still had a good 10 minutes wait in the FP line, before we were guided to the boarding area.
I am not sure if it is due to the number of times that we have ridden this now, but I seem more aware of the dangling legs above you, if you do not manage to get on the front row!.
The rain had now almost stopped when we left the ride, but the skies were still very dark and threatening although it made a nice backdrop for some photo’s.
We headed to U.K. as Emma was looking forward to the Kim Possible mission. As we collected the secret agent’s phone, the rain decided to join us again!. During the next few hours we made our way around the world, calling into each country along the way, to dodge the showers.
We left EPCOT at around 4:30 and headed back to OKW.
We had no ADR booked for tonight, so decided to visit one of our long time favourite offsite eating places. For those who have yet to visit, The Cheesecake Factory located in Mall at Millenia is a place we have frequented since 2005 and have never had a poor meal in all of our visits.
The only issue you may have here is the choice of food. The menu is a spiral bound book, with an unbelievable range of foods to suit all tastes, including of course 30+ varieties of cheesecake.
Armed with fleeces and sweatshirt, a quick trip along I4 and we were soon on the mall car park. The check in area of CF was heaving as usual, so we were given a pager. Sitting outside on the bench, I noticed that those kind people in the valet parking hut had provided a free wifi hotspot.
Depending where you are seated, we have found the air-con in places, would not be out of place on an Austrian ski slope in December.
Our pager was flashing within 5 minutes and we were quickly shown to our table.
The choice was far more difficult here than at Disney, so after 10 minutes our orders were taken.
Emma: Filet Mignon + fries and onion rings + diet coke
Sue: Filet Mignon + fries and onion rings + diet coke
Nigel: Crispy Spicy Beef, shiitake mushrooms, onions, carrots with rice + diet coke.
Our meals were served quickly and tasted delicious! I managed to clear most of my plate in anticipation of the finale, but at the time of reckoning, we all bottled out!
We could not visit the CF without having cheesecake, so ordered three ‘to-go’
Emma: Tiramisu (collapsed in transit
)
Sue: Fresh Banana Cheesecake
Nigel: Tiramisu Cheesecake
The cheesecakes were packed in their own individual boxes ready for the journey back to OKW, but unfortunately Emmas collapsed.
Sue and Emma quickly demolished theirs as soon as we got back to our room, but I showed a little restraint and put mine in the fridge, to eat later.
