DAY 15 - Aquatica - EPCOT Stroll Around The World

Today was a day that I was not looking forward to. Emma was looking forward to visiting Aquatica for a long time, but being a long time fan of Typhoon, I had other thoughts, having read of little or no shade from the sun etc., and however, we decided to give it one try. We arrived about 10 minutes before rope drop, and after going through bag check, was left standing on a bridge, wondering which way to go. We headed somewhere over to the right and managed to get 3 loungers beneath a large parasol. Having no idea of the park layout, we decided to work in an anti-clockwise direction. In a very short time we had done 3 or 4 different rides and checking on a park map, realized we had covered quite a lot,

I had seen a lot of hype about the water ride that passes through the Commerson Dolphin pool. The queue for this was about 15 minutes, so we decided to give it a try. I must say, that for all of the promotion etc for this, it was a total disappointment. The speed at which you travel down the tube, very little is visible!. A much better viewing of the dolphins is on their version of a lazy river.

Here you travel through a tunnel which has a large glass panel which is part of the dolphin pool. A much better ride involves a tube in which you eventually end up going down a large plug hole. Another ride which we all liked was a lazy river type feature only this time with a fast flowing strong current. It is advised to wear a life jacket on this one (of which there was a plentiful supply of various sizes) and the current carries you around the route at quite a speed!. The wave pool, when compared to Typhoon is no comparison, in both size and effect, but maybe it’s unfair to compare the two. I think we caught the park on a relative quiet day, and due to this, managed to cover a lot in a short period of time. I would imagine in peak season, ride wait times would be horrendous. We left the park at around 3 O’clock and headed to Port Orleans Riverside food court.

Tonight we were joining up with Wayne’s & Martin’s families for a stroll around the world (showcase) at EPCOT. At 6:15 all families met at the nearby bus stop in OKW and used Disney transport to EPCOT.
Once inside the park, a few of the party rode Mission Space and after that we all headed for Nemo ride.

Next, was a first for me, despite have been to EPCOT many times, I had never seen Turtle Talk with Crush. It just amazes me how this all comes together! We then started an anti-clockwise world tour, with a stop off in Britain, at Harry Ramsdens to sample the Fish & Chips. We managed to grab a few tables in the Rose & Crown beer garden and as time was pressing on, we decided to stay put and watch Illuminations from here. This is one of the best vantage points in EPCOT to watch the fireworks. After that, we moved from country to country, with an odd drink fitted in here and there.

As tonight was EMH the world tour was completed, with just enough time left for a lap on Test Track.

We exited the park around midnight and got the bus back to OKW.

RETURN TO TRIP INDEX

Another great day. We're not big fans of the water parks, but Aquatica looked like fun. You can't beat an evening in Epcot to finish off the day too ::yes::

Never tried Aquatica but it does look good, I love turtle talk with crush I always try and do it when we go.

Weve never tried Aquatica as were not really waterpark people, but it looks as though you had a lovely day:thumbsup2

I adore Turtle Talk with Crush - one of my favourite shows, I could watch over and over again!

And I agree about the dolphin slide @ Aquatica, did you find this quite uncomfortable also? We found were they'd joined the tubes had little ridges and rubbed our backs somewhat :confused3 I was highly disappointed!

I agree about that Dolphin Plunge or whatever it is at Aquatica, I didn't even relise I'd gone through the tube under the water already - very naff!

We're not sure about Aquatica either but I really enjoyed reading your report and seeing your pics! :thumbsup2

looks like another great evening for the extra hour. love the drinking round the world evenings
