20th Anniversary Trips: "Saying Goodbye to Muppets" Disney World Edition (An April Trip Report)

Our last full day - Making the best of the last day!

Today, being our third day in a row, we decided to not rope drop! It was def needed. We woke up probably around 8:00?

Andy and I grabbed breakfast from Spyglass Grill. Which we were super close to and I really appriciated that being there at the far end of the resort!

Morgan requested a Bounty Platter and Gwen requested a Chocolate croissant. Andy and I just went with Coffees. And then we snacked on Morgan’s left over Cuban Sandwich. Which was not bad cold.
Today's "cheat" sheet by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

The plan was to hit some rides in Hollywood Studios first then MAYBE try to get on Guardians of Galazy IF we felt up for it.

Roach Trap by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
At some point, one of the girls noticed a cockroach in the room. We trapped it under a cup like any self respecting girl would do. It looked like it was mostly dead, but we put a half drank iced tea on top of the cups for good measure. You know, just in case… We live in a 100 year old house so bugs are not unusual for us. Gross but it happens. we have seen them in the deluxes also, it's florida and swampy. It happens.

We headed out of room after our big trapping.

We were on the Skyliner a little after 9:30.
Morgan was not happy about riding the Skyliner this morning but she tolerated it. It was slow this morning and she was def getting over being in a tin bucket in the sky.

She survived the ride but wasn't happy about it. We were off the skyliner around 9:45

I made Gwen pick the line to scan in. I have become the worst at picking the lane. I always end up with the slowest line.

Since our window of Slinky Dog was open, we headed into Toy Story Land

And right to Slinky Dog.

And we were on the ride right at 10:00!

I was happy we were riding this again. The girls said we could skip it but I insisted on us riding!

I love Slinky Dog but for some reason the girls are meh on it. I don't know..

We had some time to kill before our LL for Toy Story Mania, So we decided to just wait for Aliens.
Alien Swirling Sauciers by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

It was a posted 20 minutes maybe, maybe 30. But we waited under 15, which is an acceptable wait.

Gwen and I rode together and decided to do the feet and hand up challenge. We slid all over the place and def made it way more fun!

Morgan was “stuck” with Andy and couldn’t slid around. It was more fun that we remembered. It is fun just not worth waiting forever for.

We were off the ride right at 11:00. We hit all 3 rides in Toy Storyland in one hour, not bad! Thtat was all we had wanted to do in Hollywood Studios. We talked about doing Falcon but everyone was just ok with skipping it. So, we decided to try and hop over to EPCOT and grab a few food booths and then maybe head to Guardians....

Morgan wanted to try and get the shirt she saw the other day, so Andy and Morgan headed to the store where she saw it.

Gwen and I stopped to get Num Num cookie and met them outside the store.
Jack Jack by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

They did not have Morgan's size for the shirt. Andy and her had asked a CM and I guess it was a super popular version of the baseball shirt. She got super upset and then got upset that she was upset because she knew she shouldn’t be this upset over a shirt. I think she was just tired. We had been going pretty hard the last few days. And the tour at SCAD was probably a lot as well. It just hit her all at once.

We met up and headed out of the park. Our plan to ride Guardians was looking less likely. But we pressed on.

Morgan and Andy going to Boat by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

Once outside of the partk, Andy and Morgan decided to take the boat, as she was NOT in the mood to take the Skyliner. Gwen wanted to take the Skyliner so we said we would “race”

Gwen and I taking the Skyliner by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
On first portion, we got a cab to ourselves and Gwen ate some of her cookie.

And then our second portion we had to share and Gwen felt weird eating the cookie.
Getting off Skyliner by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

Gwen and I won the race. Andy said Morgan was really upset on the boat. And you could tell when they got to us.

The plan in EPCOT was to get some food and then suck it up and wait to ride Guardians. Morgan said she still wanted to try...

It was just about noon, so we needed to eat something anyway, so we headed in.

We saw Daisy as we walked in.

And checked out some of the topiaries as we walked towards our first stop.

Grabbed Violet Lemonade for Gwen. Morgan wasn’t in the mood.

And Chicken and Waffles for Andy. He really wanted to try it. Andy really enjoyed them. He said they were good.

He really wanted to try it. Andy really enjoyed them. He said they were good. Andy, Morgan and Gwen all tried that while I got in line for the thing I still wanted to try.

Over at the Yacht and Beach Club booths, they tried to find a table.

Waited at Yacht Club booth. It was a slow moving line for whatever reason. They weren’t really making anything there.

I got the sparkling wine flight and chips and dip (no picture of the chips and dip sadly)
Untitled by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

I loved the dips. It was a simple thing but I enjoyed it. And just wished I had more!

While sitting at the picnic table in the blazing sun.... we realized it was some sort of Dapper Day. Gwen enjoyed seeing everyone in there fancy outfits.

We sat and enjoyed the snacks and discussed what we wanted to do. Morgan wasn’t really coming out of her funk. And we were all hot! So, we decided to just head back to the room and relax. We said Guardian will be here next time. So it was ok.

I took a stackler like photo of this family, they had a retro stroller and the baby was dressed up it was adoable!

I asked if Morgan was ok taking the Skyliner back and she said yes.

We were on the Sklyiner around 1:00.
Skyliner Back by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
It was slow again and it was melting Morgan down. But she made it.

Back to the Room by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
Morgan was just ready for some alone time... she walked back to the room in front of us. Andy and I talked to Gwen about her going to swim with us for a bit so Morgan could have some alone time. Gwen said that was fine.

We got back to the room, the 3 of us changed into our baithing suits and headed to the quiet pool for a dip.

Morgan took a shower and relaxed in the room while we did that.

After the dip in the pool, we grabbed snacks on way back to room, again at Spyglass.
Just some Chicken Fingers, drinks and chips and salsa. It was all basic stuff.

We shared all of the stuff in the room. And between the rest and food, Morgan was in a better mood. So we made the right move. If we had pushed she probably would not have made it for the evening.

We all chilled in the room until it was time for dinner.

Up next Dinner and more evening fun!

I lost all my quotes for goodness sake! Poor Morgan :( I hate when that feeling of disappointing and being overtired and hot just puts you in a funk. She's lucky to have a family who understood that some rest and alone time would do the trick! I hope the rest of the night was better.

Your MK evening sure was perfect! I have actually never been on the Tomorrowland Speedway! It's kind of a running joke at this point that I just don't go on and Rob and Jimmy go themselves. Rob loves to try to time it during the fireworks. Jimmy is sad that Buzz will be closed when we're there in December, but I am so glad they are refurbing it!! I hope my accuracy will improve with the updated technology and targets....but I'm sure that isn't likely, LOL!

Big bummer about the food at the pool bar being so meh. I hate when that happens because that should have been such a quick easy answer to the where do we eat problem! At least the rest of the night was great. And I love that your kids still take their shoes off to walk back to the room. :)

I would like to hear about San Diego too.

Really enjoyed your MK day. I love when my family will do the classics with me. Peter Pan is my favorite Fantasyland ride and I don't always get to ride it when with the family. I enjoyed Tiana's but Splash Mountain was better. The queue for Tiana's is better than it was for Splash.

Riding a ride while fireworks are going off is the best! We were riding 7 Dwarfs while they were going off in July and it was Magical.

I'm bummed to hear dinner was so disappointing. All those dishes sound like they would be really good and full of flavor. I heard jalepeno cream cheese and was immediately interested. :rotfl:

Managing kids' emotions feels like a full time job sometimes, and it's tough to do it at WDW. Because you're tired and hot and want to be short on patience but you have to pull patience out of somewhere to keep them going. It sounds like taking that afternoon break was the right call.

love that Dipper hat that Morgan’s got on! I love Gravity Falls too.
She gets so many compliments on her hat! Everyone also asks where we got it.

have actually never been on the Tomorrowland Speedway! It's kind of a running joke at this point that I just don't go on and Rob and Jimmy go themselves
I remember you saying that!

I don't know if it was just a bad day or if the food quality has gone down there but it was a bummer cause we have had good meals there in the past.

I enjoyed Tiana's but Splash Mountain was better. The queue for Tiana's is better than it was for Splash.
I agree! Maybe Tiana's will grow on us...

We were riding 7 Dwarfs while they were going off in July and it was Magical.
Big Thunder Mountain is my favorite to ride during fireworks. I just need it to reopen!

Right? They all sounded so good.

I hope the newly refurbished Buzz is easier to figure out what the heck we are hitting on there :rotfl:
Andi always rides Peter Pan for me, I just love it and it is such a WDW experience one of the best OG dark rides.

The convenience of the Skyliner to DHS can’t be beat. Disney can definitely be overwhelming especially with all the teenager hormones ::yes::

I stayed in Trinidad and loved having the Spyglass snack area for Shakin Jamaican iced coffee, yum! I never used the bus the whole time I stayed there, haha 🤣 Lyft or Skyliner it was really nice!

The Grand Conclusion of our Trip

I left us off, with a rest in the room. We needed to make a better dinner decision than the night before. I suggested we go to Disney Springs to go to Eet, since Andy wanted to go for his birthday and we didn’t get to go. So it was a post birthday dinner. We all agreed!

We were on a bus to Disney Springs around 5:15.
On Bus to Disney Springs by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
There was a family that got on with 2 little girls and the girls looked to be about the same age difference as the girls. And I was having serious "my girls are teen blues" watching them. The younger one too had serious I can do anything my big sister does. She kept trying to stand like her sister and the mom just knew she was going to fall.

We arrived to Disney Springs at 5:30.

We stopped in World of Disney, I forget what I was looking for but didn’t find it. Gwen debated on a plush but just didn’t know. So, we just moved on.

We got to Eet at 5:50.
Eet by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

Eet Menu by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
There was not too much of a line. Which actually always worries me. This place is great and I don't know if it is getting the love it deserves.

We ordered our food at the counter and found a table to sit at. They give you a pager and bring the food out to you.

Gwen ordered a Mango Lassi to drink.
Mango Lassi by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
Gwen said this was good. Not sure if there is alot of variation in these, but she enjoyed it.

Morgan went with one of hte housemade lemonades, Dragon Mist.

Morgan said this was really good. And you could tell that they made it homemade.

Gin and Tonic for Andy
Gin and Tonic by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
They gave Andy a small bottle of the tonic to mix in to his liking. Which Andy made a mess when we did at the table some how. (which is why there were all the napkins in the picture.

I went with a Spicy Marg for me
Spicy Marg by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
I had this last time and it is really good. It had a nice spice to it.

It didn't take long before our food came out.

eet Bread Service with Pimento Whipped Paneer

buttered naan, garlic naan, pimento whipped paneer cheese, masala vegetables sticks, indian pickle, coriander honey, chutneys
Naan Bread Service by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
This isn’t as good as the sanaa version but for quick service version it’s great! The dips are very different than the sanaa ones. The whipped paneer is really nice, it reminded me of a pimento cheese.

Tikka Poutine
chaat masala fries, tandoori roasted chicken, white cheddar curds, rich tomato butter sauce
Tiki Masala Poutine by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
This is also a great starter indian meal. So good. If you aren't sure about Indian food, this is a great first thing to try! The butter sauce is fairly mild and the cheese curds and fries really mellow it out. Good flavor without being too spicy.

Chicken Pakora
Pakora battered tandoori chicken house made goan honey dipping sauce.
Chicken by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
We ordered 2 of these because Andy wanted to and it was his birthday dinner. These are so good! The batter is a light chickpea batter (i think), it just makes the chicken crispy on the outside. And then the dipping sauce is sooo good. I have tried to find reciepes on line with no luck. Also, highly recommend!

They were doing a special Indian burrito that Andy almost ordered as well. But there was no way we would have eaten all of that! Thank goodness he decided against it.

We actually had a perfect amount of food. Gwen even ate all of the puffs that came with the chicken pakora. We enjoyed all of the food and it was a much better dinner than the night before!

During dinner Gwen decided she was sad that she didn’t get a plush this trip. Sigh. So, we headed into Once Upon a toy since it was nearby.
Once Upon a Toy by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

We headed into Once Upon a Toy around 7:00 PM.
I didn’t have high hopes for the selection in there but they had what Gwen was looking for! Morgan decided on the microfoam baby simba doll. We said she could get it as an early birthday gift because she had ZERO things on her list… And Gwen went with the Meeko Big Footie.
Simba by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

With purchases made, I asked if we could buy a reusable bag, so that it would be easier to carry. They didn’t have any but they sent us across the way to the pin store to buy one.

With that done, we did are quick stop into Goofy’s Candy Shop to get some snacks to take home. But I don’t think we ended up getting anything.

Since we were on the far end of Disney Springs, and since they don't have buses to the parks, we called an uber. we were picked up at 7:26 PM and arrived at the Poly at 7:41.

When we got to the gate, Andy said we were going to Trader Sam’s and the girls were ‘shocked” that we lied.

Untitled by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

We all used rest rooms by Ohana while we were here and then headed to the monorail.

We were on the Monorail right at 8:00
Untitled by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
Andy went through security first, he said he didn’t want us to leave him again. (see our Spring break trip on how we left Andy by mistake...) Which wasn’t an issue, since we had to wait a bit. Not too long.

We arrived at Magic Kingdom, a short 5 minutes later!

We had on our 7 Dwarfs shift, so we tried to get a pic on main street. It was a bit crazy but we grabbed a person with no one in line. When we asked if she was doing pics. She kind of had an attitude about it but we just went with it.
Untitled by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

We had a handful of LL stacked to use this evening. And it was a best of kind of night. As we were leaving tomorrow morning.

We headed into Haunted Mansion
Untitled by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
This time we were held as the first folks to go in next time and we were able to claim our usual spot by the doors. And there was significantly less people in that room this time.

The Grand Conclusion of our Trip

It was 9:00 at this point. LInes were not bad this evening for most items. I grabbed a Magic Carpets LL that wasn’t needed but we used it.
by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
And there was no one, so we each got our own carpet. And it was super fun! We all agreed it was more fun than we remembered.

After our spin on some carpets, we headed towards Fantasyland.

Fireworks were going off now, which probably gave us some shorter lines.

We headed to Winnie the Pooh. I think we had a LL

Pooh wasn’t not fun but not as fun as carpets was. I feel like I always get off the ride thinking what did I just see?!

For some reason we headed to Barnstormers next.

Andy’s decided to ride with us, I mean how bad could it be, it's just a little kids ride..... He said it was the worst ride of the trip! It really agrevated his back! But thankful it is so short he survived.

At this point, we had a plan for the remaining of the night. We headed to Buzz around 9:40.
Buzz by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

we used a LL for this, and were on in no time.

It’s good they are refurbing that ride. I really think my gun wasn’t working. We stopped at one point and was shooting the exact same place and only got points the one time. It was fine, I suck at that ride so I don’t really care what my score is.

Next on our last must dos for the night.... the People Mover!!!

People Mover was nice and relaxing...

And then we finished the hit off with the Carousel of Progress. It was 10:15 when we went in. We had decided to do this last as we knew it was going to make us sleepy.

There was like one other family in there with us

Andy and I packed up as much as we could as we had to leave the room fairly early the next day.

We finally got to get a little before midnight.

Travel Day Home: Sunday, April 27th

Today was just heading home. The plan was to get a fairly early flight home so that we had time at home to rest before going back to school and work the next day.

We had to leave the room to mee an uber at 6:27 AM.

We were headed to security at 7:12 AM

Security was crazy even at the early time!

We were boarding our plane at 8:33

And we landed in Philly at 11:37 AM.
One of our bags was the FIRST bags to show up! Woo Hoo. It was a painless travel day home, thankfully!

It sounds like it should... We will see!

I think if you are ok not needing the main area that much, it really isn't bad anywhere you get a room.
