So I've priced up a trip for Oct 2020 a package holiday with TUI. I'm just holding back from booking to double check on school holidays. The price appears to have gone up 14 quid each in the last couple of days which is a bit of an odd number to me. Is it worth waiting till later in the year for sales? ...or do you think there will be less sales in packages now due to the demand with GE? Also I've chosen the cheapest Disney budget hotel so wondering if these will sell out first....arrhh don't know what to do! Flying from Birmingham also narrows down as not all airlines fly direct from Birmingham...annoying.

First off wait for the 25th when the U.K. free dining comes out. Even at a participating hotel/room type of value you’ll get breakfast thrown in, actually I understand it’s a quick service dining credit so better used for lunch of dinners in park.

Maybe even consider if you can upgrade to moderate and have full quick service plan, so 2 quick service credits and 2 snacks per night.

As for prices package holiday companies change their prices all the time. Some people say it can be die to cookies and if you keep searching they think they’ve got you hooked and put the price up. I’m not so sure about this personally but hey it’s Possible. Can also just be if bookings are made and ahead of where they expect sales to be they’ll yield the price, I.e. put them up.

Really bar odd £100 quid off type promos I don’t think you often see much sales so to speak. A lot nearer time of travel is different, if stock left (seats on plane and/or comittited rooms) then they’ll reduce prices to shift the ‘stock’.

If you book direct with Disney then the room rate is usually fixed. You’ll be able to lock that in, but won’t be able to book flights until later in the year. If you book through a travel company you’ll be able to book flights as well (e.g. Virgin or TUI which have their own airlines) but won’t have the same certainty around actual hotel part of the booking (as illustrated by some others’ comments where hotels were switched out later on - though probably the exception rather than the rule). If you can wait until 25th to book then you may be able to get free dining.

But is that really a good deal? I mean the "free" dining comes at a price. Normally or most or the time you can get discounts to Disney's rack rates. The discount is normally 25% or more.

So you see the "free" dining is really not free, you just forego the discount on a room.

This is why I dislike 'free' dining so much.

I’m sorry but it is just about the best deal you can get. Here is an example. 16 nights in Carribean Beach resort is £3568 for a room for 4 then you get the free quick service dining plan worth £2559. To make this the worst comparison possible the food is 41.5% of the cost of food and room. Or you could say the food is 71% of the room. Ok on top you’ve got to buy tickets but you’d be doing that anyway.

I’ve just do not see how you can not say this is a cracking deal.

If you book separately, and closer to the time, it's actually cheaper to book Flights, and a Direct Hotel, Ticket package, and even pay for a DDP if you know you'll smash all the credits and always drink Alcohol.

For example our trip this year we booked last week. Flights with Virgin, hotel, tickets and DDP with Disney. The same trip next year is forecast to come in at 1.5 times the price we've paid with 'Free' dining.

Thanks for all your comments we are defo only doing budget hotel we are not big eaters so won't do ddp and the free breakfasts after our arrival date.

we are looking at all stars sports for 2020, only ever stayed at AoA. fly from Birmingham mid october. The price search on tui fluctuated over Easter and is back down again now. I'm keeping at eye on it as I've booked 12 months out but not this early.
