2018 Member Cruise announced

So it is looking like this member cruise will be our first ever cruise. I know it may be pricier than other DCL cruises but it seems like it would also be super fun. How quickly do these sell out? I'm an over-planner so I plan to be on the phone August 6 at 9 waiting on hold I imagine.
You may have to hang up and redial hundreds of times...THEN you may be on hold for awhile. But I hope you are successful!pixiedust:

( Maybe just 100 times, but be prepared! )

Thanks! Getting a wee bit worried that we won't get in. I'll make sure all phones are charged and ready to go. Now I'm off to research categories....feeling overwhelmed :worried:

Just start early (I think I was able to get in line about 2 mins before 9am last year) and use all your phones and just keep dialing! Make sure you have cabin #s and 1,2,3 category preferences ready to give them so it's a lot shorter time from them asking you the questions to them finding you an available cabin.

Thanks! That's the plan, although we won't have cabin numbers, just categories/types of rooms. We've never cruised anywhere before so I'm just going to research and go from there. Thanks again!

Same here! I know I want a family stateroom with verandah but don't know much more than that!!!

I think family staterooms with verandas are pretty much mid ship. I really do not think I would be unhappy with any of them!

Do you have particular questions?

Do you have particular questions?
Is deck 10 (I think that is the deck directly below the pools) noisy? I've read that it can be very loud and that there can be noise from above. Are some floors or areas of the ship quieter than others? I'm not sure noise is a big deal to us but I was just trying to get a sense of the ship.

I found a thread that lists the rooms and capacities, so that helps me on the sleeping 5 question. Is there a thread that gives advice on other aspects of location? As Capang asked, we're interested in reducing noise, etc.

Things are subjective, but there are stateroom reports you can look at.
Once we had a guarantee stateroom that had been described as noisy, but we certainly did not feel it was.

To show how subjective things are. Here are two reports of the same location on Deck 10. Truth be told, I would probably avoid the deck because of possible noise, but the one report says how beautiful the view was, so I will always miss the view.

We have been members since 2009 when we bought our BLT points before it opened. We have thought about the members cruise for years but it never fell at a convenient time of the year. So while I was reading this thread I noticed that those who have been on previous members cruises really enjoyed it and are anxious to go on another members cruise.

So now I have to ask, what is it about the members cruise that makes it so special and making you anxious to go back?

Here is a thread that talks about it. I have not re-read it, but I am pretty sure I participated in it.

I love cruising. I enjoy cruising DCL, even though in many cases it is more expensive than another cruise line. I am a senior citizen and have been on 50 cruises, 23 DCL.

I especially like the special EXPERIENCES offered on Member Cruises. The Broadway singers they have had on the previous 3 cruises, ( not all same singers, but each year some singers) have provided a most memorable show on the last night.

Last year when I first noticed Joe Rojde on board, I knew we were in for some excellent talks about Animal Kingdom. Besides the talks he gave, there were special recorded programs featuring his travels accessible on the TVs in the room.

Moana was featured, the lovely actress gave a presentation with prepared questions and answers. I was impressed with her poise.

We saw Born in China before its general release near this year's Earth Day.

I enjoy the camaraderie of being with others who enjoy the DVC experience as much as I do.

They are expensive, they are a charter cruise, so gratuities are included in the price.

I think this will be my 6th Member Cruise, it is my husband's third, I enjoy them more than he does. However, when he chooses not to come, I can find cabin mates.

I GIVE AWAY much of the bling, gifting them to friends who enjoy getting the things. I keep and use what I want.

I imagine it's like going to "A Party for the Senses" or a D 23 convention.

I love listening to and watching Stasia Martin draw. She is a gem, excellent presentor. Will she be on this year's? I don't know, I always hope she's there.

I have never left a Member Cruise feeling like I was cheated, I have been satisfied.

Best wishes to all as you decide! I am not planning to go on next year's. We are hoping to go to Aulani at 7 months, and we also have a DCL cruise, Italy to Barcelona in June.
