2017 Senior Package ?'s

My oldest was a senior last year-class ring sophomore year. Yearbook (we did 1/2 page B&W ad), Cap and gown. Did the announcements through Jostens with the foil seals, tissues etc (looked at doing it through shutterfly but decided it was worth the money for someone else to do it:) Fall is VERY busy around our house).
Our neighbor (photographer for the college) did her senior pics for a great "friends and neighbors" discount-we printed what we wanted from shutterfly and included a wallet size photo in the graduation announcements. The Jostens announcements came with thank you cards - made it quite easy for her to write her thank you notes out. She also got an extra tassel for her car in the package. She didn't want shirts or sweatshirts-had plenty over the years with band.
Some of her friends did what she had, and several did the photo cards. Most of the party invites were on the photo cards. A few of her friends-whose families were good friends-did a photo card evite to a joint graduation party with each of the guys pulling open a shirt to reveal a superhero costume underneath. It was very funny and fit the guys personalities well.

Waaaayyyy back when I graduated it was much more the formal announcements, but I like the photo card announcements alot!

class rings are purchased freshman or sophmore year - mine was 2,000 (my dad insisted that I have 24 k white gold)

we did the package you stated above - but our school doesn't do "tickets" for graduation

I would do the package and then if you want to do photo invites for the party you can

Looking at package and trying to figure out what to get. There are packages with announcements, photo card bundle with foil border name cards, announcements inserts(?)m envelope seals, address labels, Thank you cards, Senior pullover hoodie, 2 pk shirts, tassel, key ring and cap n gown

buy ring (around $300)and get free cap n gown

There' also buy everything indivual

Whats the norm to send out to family? Whats the difference between Official School Announcement vs. official announcement?

My daughters school only hands our 6 graduation tickets

The announcements give the info on graduation and time so would people think they are invited to the ceremony? Only 6 tickets are given so if that's the case I was just going to include grad party info.

Would like some info on what everyone is doing. Are you buying through the school Jostens or other company? When I graduated I didn't ask for any of this or senior pictures. My mom was a single parent and I didn't want to bother her with it. For my daughter she's worked so hard and we can afford it so want to do this :) TIA!

We bought the cap, gown and tassle, which were required, and totaled $19.

The yearbook was $65, discounted from the regular $80 price because we ordered it early. I think she paid for that.

We bought the smallest package the photographer offered for her senior pictures (2 5X7, 1 8X10 and some wallets) which was about $150, but the yearbook teacher would have done a simple shot at school for free if we wanted.

We didn't buy any of the other things. We didn't need to send announcements...people who know her knew she was graduating. We couldn't invite people to graduation anyway, only 6 tickets per student. We didn't even have a graduation party, her choice. The few people who sent her gifts got thank you notes written on note cards from the dollar store ($1 for 8).

Everyone here does the picture invitations from Shutterfly, etc. I don't know yet whether the gowns are rented here. We'll have to buy cap and tassel I'm sure but that won't be till spring. Thank you cards can be from Dollar General or the like.

We did senior pictures with my nephew who does it as a side job. We'll order some prints and probably a photo book from Shutterfly.

We buy a yearbook every year which is $35. Class rings are done sophomore year. We got DD17's at Walmart for about half the price of Jostens. Fewer choices, but DD was okay with Walmart's offerings. She rarely wears it.

I wouldn't buy the things such as hoodie, keyring, formal announcements. Not necessary.
