2017 DISNEYLAND RESORT HALLOWEEN TIME / MICKEY'S HALLOWEEN PARTY THREAD!

We don't get snow here (Toronto) but we get rain sometimes and always cold enough to need our winter jackets! Last year we started a Disneyland Hallowe'en tradition and my favourite part is not having to figure out how to get a winter jacket under the costume!!!

Anyone have their costume ideas?

I'm doing a candy corn thing and my fuddy duddy husband will wear that Mickey shirt. I ordered these ears from Grim Grinning Gear's Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/GrimGrinningGear?ref=search_shop_redirect.) I ordered from her last year too and I loved them. I'll probably keep my outfit simple; white t-shirt, orange shorts and yellow knee high socks. Still up in the air what the kiddos will settle on!

I'm excited to see everyone's costume ideas!!

Reusing the Halloween Minnie ears, shirt and tutu I made/wore for the party we went to in 2015. My friend is wearing my DD's.

DD choose to make a t-shirt to wear. Not sure yet what my friends DD is going to wear.

The kids are going as Vanellope VonSchweetz and Lightning McQueen. Since they're both racers, DH and I are their crew. We're wearing basic Pit Crew t-shirts, and I painted two baseball caps for us, a Vanellope one and a Lightning one. I'm done with all the prep at this point and I'm so antsy! We've never done MHP, and the kids still don't know we're going to DL at all. Three weeks to go!

We are last minute joiners for the October 3rd party. Anyone else going to October 3rd?

We are thinking of dressing up. We are loyal MNSSHP attendees and always have plans to dress up, but then our night is inevitably too hot (and humid...it's alway humid in FL) and we all abandon costume. Can anyone tell me...is it hot typically at DL in the beginning of October? If yes, I'll likely do my Minnie Disneybound outfit (which is really just red shorts:). If not, maybe we'll try for Up costumes.

On a completely unrelated note, can anyone explain how the WOC Dessert party would work on a Halloween Party night? I was surprised they offer this package on a party night.

We are!

You would need to leave the party at Disneyland and head over to DCA to attend the Dessert Party. Also, you would have to buy a MHP ticket and pay for the Dessert Party as well, so it's not a great use of time or money to try to do both in one evening. It's my understanding that DCA gets pretty crowded during MHP because lots of people who don't have party tickets leave DL and head over to DCA when the party starts, so there would be plenty of people to enjoy WOC and the Dessert Party while MHP is going.

Yes is it typically hot in early October. Last year my party was the first week and my son refused to wear his costume that day because it was too hot and, even though I warned him when I saw the costume he picked, and his costume was long sleeves and pants.

My costume and my niece and nephews costumes were light weight with short sleeves and we were Ok thought I remember being sweaty and that all the red hairspray was getting dripping on the back of my neck from all of the sweating- Pictures Here. But if we had gone to the Friday party (I think Friday of Columbus weekend last year was 93 degrees) I might have still ditched the costume for something even more comfortable. Early October can bring anything from high temps to cool and breezy to even some drizzle and light rain but with the summer we are having my money is on high temps and sunny skies that week.

This is probably a dumb question, but do you bring your own treat bag or do they give you one?

Also, Thanks for starting to post costume pictures.. We (family of 4) are going to the party on 9/29 and I'm trying to think of festive party attire without having to schlep everything around all day or bring/pack on the plane AND remain comfortable (weather, rides, etc). I am not creative! I do feel like this is our first time, we should try to do something special w/dressing up.

They do provide one but its small. most prefer to bring there own bag

IMG_1103.JPG IMG_1104.JPG We bring our own bag. The bag is a little on the small side and if you go to every station it won't all fit. That being said it's still quite a bit of candy. You do get larger items like bags of cookies, apples etc if you so chose and that will take up more room. I found these pictures I took in 2015. It's kind of hard to see scale since it's laid out on the hotel bed. The bag pictured was the one given to us by the park.

We are planning to be there Oct 11-12. What is the window for booking tours? I guess I would have thought it longer than what you are suggesting like 30 days at least. But I do not know.

:wizard:

Like Geemo said it is a 30 day booking window. We will be attending later in our trip. If you choose to book the tour do so the first day you can, preferably when they open. Last year (or maybe the year before?) we made the mistake of deciding to go a couple of weeks after it opened. When I called to book the lady laughed and said they had been sold out for a while now. She didn't even bother to check. Since spots are so limited they go fast.

This has been a rough year for us. I'm going through a divorce, among other things. I haven't been able to get excited for this trip. I haven't even started my daughter's autograph book... we arrive October 3rd.

I did find two cute Halloween Disney shirts for her a Target. Yup. That's as far as I have gotten.

I feel so lost! Is there a Halloween dinner at Blue Bayou this year?

Sorry to hear about your situation...
Tough times are a hard time to get motivated to do the things you need to.

October 3rd is coming fast! We arrive in Burbank on Oct 2nd for a day at USH.

This link will take you to a page for BB.
Review the info and you will see Mickey’s Halloween Party Dinner Package

I have done tours before at DLR but never HH. As I understand, you can't cancel the reservations, right? If I can't cancel and I need to book at 30 days (for me, tomorrow), I will not be able to find out the details of the tour before booking.

That is correct. It's like a MHP ticket, they do not refund. They just assume you are going to love whatever they do;) I am not sure where I got my 9/16 date? I rechecked the calculator and I need to book on tuesday. ‍♀️ I have also heard them say that they change it up some every year. The web site mentions a visitor which historically is Master Gracy. For me it sounds different enough I am going to take a chance. Plus the Disney debit discount doesn't hurt. You could always see what the CMs say when you call to book. I don't know how much if any they know but there is no harm in asking.

I don't have photos but I'm doing Perdita from 101 Dalmatians. I got a polka dot dress, black & white jewelry (I just don't have any blue in the right shade!) and will be doing my nails blue. Accented with black, but super comfy, heels I'm hoping for fun and cute! And then my BFF told me how all-out she is going with her outfit so I ordered some Dalmatian ears to go with it. I'm not keen on those but do I feel I need to make it a little more costumy vs Disney boundy :)
