Anyone hear any rumors or have a thought if the same great DVC discount for APs will be offered again for 2015?

I couldn't swing them for my family last year and am delaying buying for 2015 February trip hoping that they will have similar offer....

I suspect if they do it again it won't be until 2016. I know that they waited until all the special priced passes were used before they offered a deal again. In this case the last of the time the passes could be started is Dec 2014 I believe so I suspect it won't be until 2016 that they would offer the again if they do offer them.

Actually anyone still holding a voucher for the last promotion has until January 31, 2015 to activate it. We normally go in January but decided to not go this coming January so I passed on the promotion. My husband has a voucher that he will activate in October.

Ok so I'm new to DVC and a little confused...what's this about vouchers? Do you no automatically get an AP discount when your a DVC member? Thanks!!

When you buy an annual pass by phone or online you don't get the actual pass. You get a voucher or will call # which you hold until you get to WDW. When you exchange the voucher for the actual pass, your year starts.

Thank you so much for the info!!

So if I order online at dvcmember.com, I get a voucher that I can link to my MDE account (so I can make FP+ reservations), but the clock doesn't actually start ticking on my 365 days until I activate the pass when I arrive. Is that right?

Correct. For new APs, the pass is active and the clock starts ticking when the CM hands you the actual pass at either a park ticket window or guest relations location.

As DebbieB stated, you have a choice of either a voucher or a will call number.

Vouchers are sent to you in the mail and there is usually a $3 mailing charge (though some people have reported they were not charged). Your voucher (a hard plastic card) should arrive in 3-5 business days. Once it arrives you can enter the number that is on the voucher into your MDE account. You must bring that physical voucher with you to WDW and exchange it for your pass. You will also need your DVC member card and a photo ID.

If you opt for "will call" you get your will call number during your purchase transaction. You can enter that number into MDE right away. When you go to WDW, you give the CM your will call number to get your pass. I usually print out the confirmation and give that to the CM because it makes it a bit easier for them to pull up the information and issue the pass. As with the voucher, you must also provide your DVC member card and a photo ID.

I believe the discount they were mentioning was the one that was offered earlier this year where you paid the standard DVC discounted price ($485) and got the premium pass (normally ~$600 with the DVC discount), which included the water parks, DisneyQuest, and Oak Trails.

As far as I know (and please, correct me if I'm wrong), the normal DVC discount which you can currently participate in is a standard offering to DVC members.

If you opt for "will call" you get your will call number during your purchase transaction.

Is this when making the DVC AP purchase by phone, or does it happen when you're buying it online as well?

I purchase my APs online so yes, if you opt for Will Call, you get the info you need online. If purchasing by phone, they should give you the Will Call number as well since you need it to pick up your APs at WDW.

Maybe I'm missing something but why not just renew the annual pass. As a DVC member it would cost $435. I don't remember what the actual cost of the deal was last year but think it was near $435.

I thought the breakeven on an annual pass was seven days with the hopper feature. If you go more than seven days a year why not just renew the AP?

It depends on how the dates fall. My current AP expires in November, I have an October trip. I'm considering a May trip next year. If I renew, my new pass will expire November 2015. If I buy a new pass next May, it will expire May 2016. If I'm not going from November to May, half the year is wasted on a renewal.

Just wanted to point out, since this wasn't explicitly stated. There is a DVC discount for an AP ($485 vs $634) and a discount for the Premiere AP ($605 vs $754). However, this past 2 years (maybe prior years too) they had a discount on the Premiere AP, 2 years ago it was $425 and this year it was $484. So pretty much they were letting DVC members buy a PAP for the price of a regular DVC discounted AP. These special promo priced vouchers did expire (although I recall a thread somewhere where Disney credited the buyer back on an expired voucher towards the purchase of a pass, ymmv). So you had to activate it's 1 year use prior to the expiration date of the voucher.

If you buy a AP/PAP voucher that is not a part of this promo price (DVC discounted or not), it does not expire, so you have forever until you activate the 1 year use. Some people (DVC or not) will buy multiple vouchers at today's prices knowing that each year the price will go up. So in 20 years, when APs are like $5000, they will be using a AP that "only" cost $485.

The $199 offer says it's only good until May... What happens if you can make it before then? they just expire and you lose your money?

Most likely they would allow you to apply the money towards another ticket. There were posts from the fall 2012 promo that some people got refunds who could not go in time.
