2015 Amazing-can-do-Attitude April WISH challenge! ALL welcome!

I'll share the funny story about the infused water I made for DH. I made the cucumber water one morning as I was dashing out of the house. I told him it was there in the fridge. When I got home I found my broccoli "juice" (I keep the water leftover after steaming broccoli to use in my soup stock) container sitting empty on the counter. I thought maybe he had spilled it. NOPE..... he DRANK it thinking it was his cucumber water!! Said it tasted pretty icky (and YES, it was labeled.....he just didn't bother to look at it). I'll be chuckling about that (and teasing him about it) for a long time to come! :rotfl:

OMG, I could totally see my DH doing this, label included. Men.

Not a good day... Tomorrow will be better. I am not getting my eating and snacking under control...

I too did terrible on the snacking today. I stopped at the store and was hungry and bought a small package of Oreo peanut butter cookies and proceeded to eat half the package WHILE cooking dinner. Should've know better.

On the positive side, I did get over 12,000 steps in so far today.

The day is not a TOTAL failure.

I really think the combo of holidays and bad weather have been tough on everyone.

I have been MIA lately for 2 reasons: 1) I have been SUPER busy with Easter and all, 2) I have not been doing well, diet and exercise wise, and that always makes me withdraw. Starting when we had our crafting weekend a couple weeks ago, I started indulging in treats or quick foods more. I also lost momentum with my running, because of being super busy and tired. I got back on track the past couple of days, but it was def. harder to run having slacked off and eaten badly. Wow, it's amazing how fast you can fall back. I have also avoided the scale, knowing it would just upset me more, but I think I am getting back to where I was, at least. We'll see tomorrow.

On the plus side, I was walking through Target yesterday and resisted the urge to buy a bunch of the 1/2 price Easter candy. Instead I bought some stuff to keep at my office for "treats": Kashi cherry chocolate granola bars, Boom Chicka Pop popcorn, and Pretzel Crisps. Hopefully these will keep me away from the chips and candy my office keeps in stock for their employees! :thumbsup2

Also, I have had to repeat some days in my 5k training plan, but I can now run for 6 minute intervals! Never thought that would happen... :woohoo:

Not a good day... Tomorrow will be better. I am not getting my eating and snacking under control...

Sorry.... hope today was better for you. Anything I can do to help??

NO DAY is a TOTAL failure if you got yourself up and moving and breathing!! Great job getting that many steps!!

:rotfl2:omg the 'broccoli juice' story......bahahahahaha!

Knew it would make you chuckle!!

:welcome: back Susan! i'll add you to the list!

so sorry I mean to post Woohoo Wednesday last night before I went to bed, b/c I knew I wouldn't be on the comp this morning. and I totally forgot after I left b/c I was very focused....a friend and I took a road trip today to the Vera Bradley Outlet sale in Ft Wayne, IN. that is such a fantasticly crazy and chaotic but amazing thing to do, if you love Vera and happen to be close enough to IN. anyhow, we just got back at 5 p.m., I'm trying to log my food into MFP but it's being so slow and I'm hungry for dinner! hope I have some calories left after being on the road!. I did think of you all and forced myself to take a walk around my long (1.2 mile) block when I got home to let Piper stretch her legs after being crated all day, and to finish out my fitbit step goal for the day. I think I might fall asleep right here sitting at the computer! it was a long but fun day!

Does sound like a fun day!! Do they sell the Disney Vera at the outlet??

Pamela -- what state do you live in? that it's snowing...omgoodness I feel ya! no more snow!!!!!!!

I'm in New Hampshire. We had about 2-3 inches of wet icky slippery snow, but not enough to delay school (although many schools North and East and West of us had 2 hour delays). Still snowing lightly right now.... hasn't really fully stopped all day!! It was supposed to be opening day for the local minor league baseball team, but that has been postponed. And DS's first track meet of the season next week has been postponed a few days also.

Magdalene -- tomorrow WILL be better!

AGREE!!

@pjlla I got that today then it turned to hail then rain. Don't you just love New England?

Pretty tired of New England right now!! I'm ready to CRY about this snow!

It's been rough at work this week and I'm luckily too stressed out to stress eat! So I've been happy about that at least this week! One positive!

Sorry you've been stressed!

OMG, I could totally see my DH doing this, label included. Men.

Yup.... MEN!

I really think the combo of holidays and bad weather have been tough on everyone.

Sorry it has been hard to get back on track.... but we've all been there and you KNOW you can do it! Great job on the 6 minute intervals!!

**************************

Hey all! Less than delightful day at school after they pulled me to fill in for a 2nd grade teacher who had to leave unexpectedly (she had a sick child). Plans were helter-skelter and kids were not exactly on their best behavior. But I put the hammer down and put on my "Mean Old Lady Anderson" face and showed no mercy! I am expecting to be in there again tomorrow, but I will be better prepared for the non-stop chatter!

Eating has been good this week (although I'm having trouble getting all of my PPV every day and that may come back to bite me on the scale), but I'll be honest and say the exercise is (as per my usual) less than impressive. No good excuses really other than sheer lack of motivation to get out there.

Men are off to robotics in a bit, so I just warmed up some soup for DH and packed a warm dinner in a thermos for DS (he will eat in the car between track practice and robotics meeting). I will be having some roasted carrots and an egg white omelet with cheese. As far as fruit is concerned we have exactly ONE apple and a few servings of frozen berries left. The berries will be for yogurt in the morning and the apple will go with my soup and cheese for lunch tomorrow, so no fruit tonight. Looks like I will be grocery shopping this weekend..... maybe even have time to hit Costco!

I'll be pulling some new recipes tonight in anticipation of my shopping and meal planning this weekend. Any suggestions??

I have plans with a friend to go see a musical tomorrow night! When have you EVER heard me say I have "plans with a friend"!!?? I don't have any friends IRL that I hang out with, visit with, etc.... so this is a HUGE thing for me! She is a nice lady that I work with.... her DD went to high school with my DD and they (she and her family) actually attend the church that DH and I used to attend. She mentioned on FB how much she liked the music from Godspell and I mentioned that it was playing locally this week. She told me about a half price ticket offer online and I offered to buy the tickets if she would go with me..... so I have PLANS WITH A FRIEND!! Excited about the musical too!

Off to check on my carrots in the oven..... even though it isn't 5pm yet, I'm hungry! TTY in the morning!.......................P

I've fallen slightly behind and don't have the energy to comprehend this late...so posting for Fun Friday then will be back to report in after the gym. Pixie dust to all the LOSERS who are choosing to WI this month, just simply post and report your +/- status for the week

FUN FRIDAY --- favorite Disney movies in live person, animation and Pixar. Tell us your favorite in each category and if there is a fun story please share!!

*** my desire to be cute and post that in Mickey colors makes it hard to read but I liked the idea...it reads "live person, animation and Pixar" couldn't make the yellow pop!

WHEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weighed in at my personal trainer tonight - I am down from 300 lbs to 291!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congatulations!! That is wonderful!!

Pam, have fun at your musical - and how wonderful that you found someone to do something with!! I hope this lady does become a true IRL friend!!

--

Thanks for all the cheering everyone! Yesterday was a much better day. I stayed mainly on plan, had healthy food and went for a 30 minute run in the evening. So all around a success in my opinion. I even managed to go to bed at a normal time and not as late as the previous nights. Today starts my new WW week and even though I am still not weighing myself, it lets me start fresh with my weekly points and hopefully that will give me motivation to get back to conscious tracking!

Weigh yourself. It may not look pretty, but you can then see the progress. Jabbering done ww I understand,

FUN FRIDAY --- favorite Disney movies in live person, animation and Pixar. Tell us your favorite in each category and if there is a fun story please share!!

Totally forgot to answer this!!

live action: Pete's Dragon (the German title is Elliott das Schmunzelmonster, which translates to Elliott, the smiling monster). It was my favourite filme growing up and I had no idea that it was a Disney film until I saw the Main Street Electrical Parade on my first visit to Disneyland.

animation: Cinderella - mainly because this was my mother's favourite film when she was a kid, so lots of nostalgic value. Otherwise I think Aladdin.

Pixar: Ratatouille!! Ok, that kind of is a bit emberassing that I pick the one film about food... But hey, it is all about enjoying food and savouring it and not just stuff yourself! Wall-E is a close second.

Those oreos sound delicious so I'd say totally not a failure. ;) As long as you aren't doing it everyday, it's fiiiine.

Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast and Tangled. If I could, I would just say Tangled, Tangled, Tangled. I love that movie so much.

Congrats! That's an amazing feat! It's great to see the scale go down like that. :)

Guys, I have not being doing well in April. I'm not beating myself up over it, and I'm still in maintenance range- but my willpower has really been lacking, my lifts aren't progressing and my nutrition game has been awfully weak. We're having people over tonight so I know I'll be over my calories for today as well. It's just so frustrating.

I'm also a bit nervous that Disney is only a week and a half away- I was really hoping to be down to the lower end of my maintenance weight so that I wouldn't have to worry about putting on like ten lbs or something from all the eating we'll be doing at the parks (I know, water weight and all that, but it's still scary). I think either starting tomorrow or Sunday I'm going to have to put myself back on a real cut (~1700cal a day down to 1450 or so) which really stinks.

In better news, I renewed with my trainer today for fifty more sessions which should take me through the next year or so. It's not cheap, but we get on pretty well (he listens to all my whining, that's basically a friend, right?) and he's gotten me this far, so I figured it was worth the cost. Also convinced a coworker to sign up for a learn to run clinic at work (I talked about this briefly in the exercise thread, sorry if you're reading about it twice). It seems like a modified c25k program to me, and it runs once a week on Thursdays during lunch. Both my coworker and I hate running, so we figure we'll try it but if we hate it, it's free so we can drop it anytime. I see so many runners around here on the WISH boards and am feeling a little left out. ;)

Good job at Target! I had a similar victory at Meijer, I walked around the marked down candy three times and didn't buy anything! yay for us!! and cyber high five on your running progress!!

:grouphug: we've all been there, in fact I yo-yo between doing great and feeling terrible about my choices. 10 days is still enough time to flush out those fluffy pounds and leave home feeling down in your range. and renewing with your trainer shows your commitment, so cyber high five!

---------------------

ok, my update, I lost my vaca fluff! yay!! I haven't WI for 10 days, but I had a whoosh and the extra vaca weight is gone. so that was actually -3 lbs for me! I tend to whoosh and then hold steady, rinse and repeat. so I need to keep the mojo goings and hit my goal for this month!!

Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, and Pixar is so very hard to choose for me, but today I'm going to say The Incredibles, I just  Edna Moe

Well I'm back down to 158 -so happy about that. They hired another meat cutter at work to replace the meat mgr. so I'm pretty sure they are all moving up and I get to keep my co worker as second most likely, with him cutting when they need it. He has been trained but just never got the time in needed to step in as a full time meat cutter. They did hire a kid going to school which works as a third--nights and weekends and he's great too so that's all a relief. We'll have our first meetings with Haggen starting today. Next week I'm working 6 days so probably won't be on much. There were 4 shopping carts full of mark downs yesterday 1/2 off + buy one get one free got to take a little break and paw through some stuff found a couple meat thermometers ( I kill those frequently) and some easter paper plates. Glad I organized the cupboard because I knew what I needed--and what I Didn't lol. Usually I don't do stuff like that at night because there's just too much noise and I can't listen to music but the kid was out and husband asleep so I just put on my mp3 player and rocked out lol. The cats were certainly looking at me strangely--they're just glad I didn't make them dance with me lol.

Live action: Mary Poppins (Swiss Family Robinson close second).

Animated: Little Mermaid (Tangled close second).

Pixar: Toy Story

No fun stories.... just my favorites.... the ones I can pop into the DVD player any old time and just watch over and over! But I'm sure there is one out there that I am forgetting.... like I really loved the recent "Saving Mr. Banks" and the most recent live action "Cinderella".

*** my desire to be cute and post that in Mickey colors makes it hard to read but I liked the idea...it reads "live person, animation and Pixar" couldn't make the yellow pop!

That's fantastic! I hope you two have a great time together!

Thank you!

Don't cut back too much or your body will shut down (just ask me.... that is what I am going through right now.... :( ) . I find it more beneficial to drop the carbs VERY LOW and stay at my normal "losing" number of calories/PPV. For example, I get 26 PPV a day (when I am losing, not maintaining). When I am going full-bore on an "emergency" weight loss, I stay at 26 PPV, but virtually eliminate all carbs (except some fruit and veggies).....no rice, no potatoes, no pasta, no cereal, no breads (not even the low carb kind), etc etc. It is a hard thing to do long term, which is why I only do it occasionally. The longest I've been able to do it and STICK WITH IT was about 3 weeks..... I ate a lot of cheese, egg whites, and peanut butter those 3 weeks (and hit the gym HARD), but it worked! It isn't dangerous or crazy or leave you starving.... but it can be REALLY hard if you are used to eating lots of carbs (even healthy carbs like oatmeal).

In better news, I renewed with my trainer today for fifty more sessions which should take me through the next year or so. AMEN!!!!!!!!!

Costco! yay baby!!

Kind of excited about it.... and DH won't be there to throw anything and everything into the cart! I might get out for $200 or less!! That being said, it is an hour drive each way.... not sure I feel like doing that on top of my regular grocery shopping. And I'm trying SO HARD to stay out of stores these days and one of my favorite thrift stores is near the Costco.... it would be hard to just drive right by!!

******************

Hey alll!! Gotta be quick here. I'm leaving in 40 minutes to pick up DS at track practice and then I will drop him at home, allow him to make himself a frozen pizza  and I will dash out to meet my FRIEND for our drive into town! Right now I am burning daylight, as I SHOULD be ironing and packing for DS as he has an overnight Model UN conference that leaves early tomorrow morning~!

Scale was not pretty this morning and I KNOW it is because, other than Easter Sunday (when I didn't really track) I didn't actually hit my PPV target a single day since March 27. I've been way under, as low as 16 PPV several days and only hit into the 20's 5 of those days, with a high of 23 once!! I know.... STUPID! I need to start planning bigger breakfasts and lunches because I am getting to dinner and beyond and realizing that I still have 10+/- PPV left to eat!! And this does NOT count ANY of my 49 weekly PPV or any of my (very few) activity PPV that I have earned. I KNOW I've been waaaaayyy under eating and it has meant a stall out (actually a tiny gain) on the scale this week, which is frustrating.

I've done the math and if I have about 7 PPV for EACH meal and plan on a 1 PPV snack sometime during the day (usually a WW cheese stick) and a 4 PPV snack after dinner (my treat time) that will effectively use up ALL of my PPV each day.... and if any meal during the day ends up being MORE than 7 PPV, I will just take those PPV away from my evening snack OR pull from my 49 (which I rarely use, other than the occasional splurge meal).

Routinely, looking back, my breakfasts are between 3-5 PPV, lunches are anywhere from 3-6 PPV, and dinner is all over the place (depends on what I made and how hungry I am), but very often is 6-7 PPV. For snack I try to NOT eat more than 3PPV at night (preferably before 8 pm also).

Anyhow...... I'm just really thinking out loud here. Just trying to make a plan for next week. Any other suggestions?

GOTTA DASH! TTY tomorrow.....................P

I don't know anything about WW points but I've been trying to increase my breakfasts too... I've been finding overnight oats pretty handy recently. If you haven't tried them, there's plenty of recipes online. I usually do oats+milk+vanilla greek yogurt+chocolate protein powder and whatever fruit I have lying around. It comes out to have a pudding-like consistency and then I top with fiber cereal and more fruit if I have it. You might have to fiddle with the ratios, but mine comes out to something like ~300cal and 40g of protein. I've also made it with vanilla protein powder+cinnamon+a bit of maple syrup and it tastes a bit like a cinnamon roll. Maybe go for a morning and an afternoon snack to help you use up your leftover points?

Thanks for the support, guys. I was a bit frustrated this morning when I posted. Things will work themselves out, though!

Sorry it has been hard to get back on track.... but we've all been there and you KNOW you can do it! Great job on the 6 minute intervals!!

Thanks! I hope the play was fun! I love musicals, but DH is deaf, so between that and the cost, I rarely get to go see one. :P

Oh, dear, that is tough... I refuse to pick only one in each category.

Live: I love Newsies, Pirates of the Carribean, Enchanted, and the 1961 version of The Parent Trap. I actually loved a lot of the Live movies Disney made in the 60s and 70s, esp. the ones with Haley Mills. Also, does the Muppet Christmas Carol fall into this category? 'Cause that's awesome.

Animated: Probably Beauty and the Beast. The Disney rebirth was at it's height, and she was really the first Disney princess with a brain. The score is also amazing. I also ADORE the artwork in Sleeping Beauty. I've seen a lot of these movies for the first time in a long time now that we are introducing them to DDprincess:. She is currently obsessed with Sleeping Beauty, since it's the newest one we've bought.

Pixar: Oh, Pixar, how do I love thee... Monsters, Inc., the entire Toy Story Franchise, and Finding Nemo are probably my favorite. I haven't cared much for the Cars franchise, for some reason. Excited for Inside Out to come out... It looks really promising. :)

So I finally weighed myself today... up 1.5 lbs since the start of the month. I haven't been very careful, and once you throw in a holiday... *sigh* On the plus side, though, my running program is going well. I even made it the full 8 minutes on one of my intervals today! I think I need to just use the elliptical tomorrow, though, as my knees are starting to feel the strain. Not pain, but not 100% either. Slow and steady wins the race!

happy Saturday everyone! fly by check in, quick stop at home after a hanging basket class at a local nursery then off to my parents for delayed Easter gathering ....hope everyone is doing well!

So, after having such a pity party earlier this week, I think I managed to get my act together! I went for a nice run on Thursday and then yesterday evening I felt like I needed to move and decided to get out my Jillian Michaels DVDs. I bought the Body Revolution last year and followed it through 6 (or 8?) weeks until my cruise. It did tone my body, but I did not lose weight... I decided to skip her cardio workouts and instead run on these days. I hope that this way I will keep a good running schedule and still tone my body. Thinking back I now realize that I did her program around this time last year - i.e. in winter. If I had the same vitamin D and thyroid problem that I am having right now, the reason for not losing any weight then might not have been the program, but my body chemistry! Hmm, that would be interesting. Anyway, I am feeling great for having started to do some other exercise besides running. I need to get a stronger core and that was one of the things I loved about the program then: I started to feel less floppy, not just in the sense of a muffin top, but kind of feeling that there was purpose to my body and it was able to hold itself in place.

Eating has been good today so far. Hopefully I will survive the evening without too much snacking!!

Hey all.... just a fly-by so I don't miss out on posting today. I was up early to take DS to meet the bus for his Model UN weekend conference. Then off to the market to the tune of $300! Then home for HOURS of cooking and food prep.... but I"m feeling good about all I did! Made stuffed "confetti spaghetti" squash for dinner (yummy), and then prepped all of my veggies and meats for the remainder of the week, plus made a huge batch of lentil soup for lunches and a big batch of applesauce for DS.

Still having trouble getting enough calories in today, so I splurged on a light beer.... cause that's the PERFECT way to get your calories, right??? ;)

I'll BB tomorrow to chat!...................P

FWIW, Points Plus Values (or PPV) are just a different way of counting calories (kind of). The WW PPV system kind of "rewards" you for choosing the calories in an apple over the calories in an Oreo. It takes the health benefits of an item into account, rather than just straight calories. But however it is counted, I have definitely NOT been eating enough lately!

I have an "overnight oats" recipe sort of like yours, that I often use for my dinner after work on Tuesdays. I can make it up and toss it in the fridge in the morning and have it waiting when I get home about 8pm. I've never tried it with yogurt though. Mine is just oats, almond milk, applesauce, pinch of salt, cinnamon, and stevia.

So glad things are looking better!

It was VERY nice.... singers were terrific, choreography was fun!~

Sounds like your mind is getting into a GREAT place!!

*************************

Morning all! Guess everyone is sleeping in today? I was up at my usual time, but allowed myself the luxury of laying there checking out Pinterest for an hour or so. Then I folded a MOUNTAIN of laundry before making a new pumpkin quinoa recipe for breakfast. It was pretty good, but it won't be taking the place of my beloved oatmeal.

Sunny day here today, so I will definitely be doing SOMETHING outside. I did make it outside for about 20 minutes yesterday for a bit of raking and picking up some sticks (we lost some HUGE limbs this winter). Hoping to hang a load on the clothesline soon, make the beds, and then heading outside to rake around the remaining snow piles!

I'll pop on again later to chat!..................P

hello everyone! quiet here this weekend, hope that's b/c everyone either got to sleep in as Pamela said (I did today :teeth:) or is outside enjoying some nice weather

my mom is coming over for an overnight soon, for her bi-annual doc appointment in Columbus. so I won't be able to check in tomorrow morning, or go to the gym. I'm trying to get my steps in today, made it once around my long block for 1/2 my daily steps, and just asked DH if he'd walk it with me again in an hour or so. sounds like we all need to BAN together and pull our collective mojo and give April another heave-ho! we have nearly 3 weeks left of this months LOSERS....we can make that worth it and a giant leap towards our goal!! we got this!!

for Monday, I thought I'd post a QOTD (question of the day) and get this party re-started

QOTD Monday Apr 13, 2015 --
What are the warning signs for you that you are maybe starting to lose your way on this lifelong journey? Is is eating more? Not journaling your food? Skipping workouts? And the more important part of this.... HOW DO YOU GET BACK ON TRACK?

Hey all! Hope you had a great day! It was WARM and SUNNY here!!!:sunny: SO EXCITING! Got two loads of wash hung outside and raked flower beds for about 90 minutes! It felt good to get so warm in the sun that I had to take off my sweatshirt!!

We had grilled cheese for dinner tonight, in honor of it being national grilled cheese day! Mine was Laughing Cow cheese and WW string cheese with baby spinach and caramelized onions on a low carb Sandwich Thin with a side of roasted green beans and steamed broccoli and a small dish of homemade applesauce for dessert! I'm STILL not getting enough PPV at each meal though.... today I had 5 PPV (well, technically 4.5) for breakfast, 4 PPV at lunch, and another 4 PPV at dinner. It is already 7pm and I'm trying REALLY HARD to CONSISTENTLY not eat after 8pm, so that means I have 13 PPV left to eat in the next hour....:crazy2:. Guess I'll indulge in some nuts.... but certainly not 13 PPV worth!

Well.... I've got to grab the last bit of laundry from outside before the dew settles. I answer the QOTD tomorrow! Thanks to ohMom for thinking of us ahead of her busy day and getting it posted early!!:lovestruc ..........................P
