Can I say again how much I love you all? Grr to all the arguing and nasty posts on the WL thread

Yep I agree it got pretty nasty of the WL threads ... I myself was disappointed but geez some people just got unreasonable. This is a more civilized group for sure : ) When is your trip planned? I think of missed your details since I've been in Las Vegas for 5 days. We are staying at RP CL November 19-22 after a stay at AKL CL for 10 nights. I've switched things around so many times since the WL pool closure. We wanted to stay there for our something new since we normally stay at GF for the past 20 yrs, so AKL is now our something new and GF is our all time favorite : )

When we stayed last year they had shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion.
When we stayed at Poly we also had the Solar Gel. I'm wondering if GF has it too? Would be nice for August!!

AKL had that solar gel in May as well. I loved it! Hope they have it at GF for my fair skin!

Is it just me or is it next to impossible to digest info on this thread due to the way users multi-quote recent posts. It's like reading transcripts of a couple people having conversations with each other.

Yes, I would love to be chillin' at a Disney resort right now .....even in the heat and humidity....I'd find a great spot pool side and spend the day .

I see there is a discussion about robes. I will just be happy for any robe! We have always enjoyed that perk when we stay at PBH so I am looking forward to enjoying the same at GF. My FAV is ordering room service and eating in the room while lounging in my plush robe. Makes it REALLY feel like a vacation

Quick question, where are the lifejackets kept at GF? Are they at the marina only or do they have bins at/near the pools?

I've only seen life jackets at the marina, but then, we've never tried to find any at the pool. I feel they must have them nearby - perhaps at the pool houses?

Looking for some help to decide. We're staying at Gf for the first time mainly due to the poly construction but looking forward to it. Due to arrive next weekend.

Have booked a theme park view room and currently trying to decide if we should request ground floor or top floor. Anyone have any suggestions. Are the balcony/patio areas bigger on the ground floor?

Last time we stayed at the poly had a great large patio area on ground floor with a theme park view. Really private on the lagoon edge. Would be great if we could get something similar at Gf.

Sorry you have to move from the Poly, but I think you will love the Grand. So close!!

I can't help much on the size of the patios, but wanted you to know - they are enclosed, not open like at the Poly. I'll post a photo so you can see them. We prefer upper floors, as we like an overall view of the courtyard, but your family may prefer first.

Yes, glad I'm not the only supply hoarder here, lol! I was just using a Sea Salt lotion from last years visit, getting in the Disney mood!!! I had asked housekeeper for extra, and she came back with a huge bag full!!!

Yes, they do have solar gel at the GF. It is not always in the regular (i.e., non-CL) rooms, but I'm sure you can request it from mousekeeping.

Love using our stash of GF goodies, brings it all back, doesn't it?!

Somewhere on here I'm sure I read they are refurbishing RP lounge ... What is the completion date? Also if anyone is staying main building club level after completion I'm hoping to see new photos : ) we will not arrive until November but curious what the plans are for RP? I'm hoping they will be adding a restroom but I guess it depends on how extensive the rehab is?

They haven't given us completion dates for any of the buildings, as they don't want to commit. But, each building has taken roughly one month, so I assume the Main Bldg. will be the same. I believe baler31 posted they had finished SL and moved over to RPC this past week.

AKL had that solar gel in May as well. I loved it! Hope they have it at GF for my fair skin!

Nope, it's just you! J/K. Welcome, I see you are new to the DIS. The multi-quote is quite prevalent, it's an easy way to answer a lot of posters in one go, instead of having to quote each individual post. Keeps the thread from speeding through to the 250 page limit too quickly.

Hopefully, you will get used to it and can skim through posts that are not relevant to your interests.

I feel the same way. I was trying to plan my first stay at the BC a few years back and that thread is horrible they "talk" about everything but the YC/BC and don't answer questions for newbies to those resorts

Agree multi quote is necessary, unless you absolutely want to answer everyone individually

I wish I could meet meet him! Loved him for a loooooooong time. Closest I got to him was show in Philly a gazillion years ago when Jon climbed thru the crowd so a fan club member could ask his girlfriend to marry him.......Just thought the pic was appropriate since it contains 2 of my fave things

As k&a&c'smom posted, the patio is enclosed with a railing and landscaping (and you can't leave the patio and enter the grounds). I also think the patio looks to be the same size as the balcony. I would choose an upper floor over a patio, but that's just because I don't like first floor rooms .

I agree with k&a&c'smom that multi-quoting is an easy way to respond to several posters at once without having multiple posts. With that said, I hope you are able to gather any information you are looking for; if not, feel free to ask any questions you may have as there are a lot of very informative (as well as friendly) posters here .

Happy 4th everyone!!

So I survived DD's sweet 16 party along with my other DD's b-day...been an exhausting week for sure.

Today was a complete wash out for us with the lousy weather but we did manage to do a little outlet shopping . Picked up a few more moisture wicking tops and shorts for me & the girls (a definite must for August weather) and now my oldest has proclaimed she is bringing out her suitcase tomorrow .

Regarding the pool chairs...I was so hoping this wouldn't be an issue at the Grand. As much as I do love the BC and SAB, the whole chair "hogging" there is ridiculous but I do admit that I am another who will not hesitate to move towels if I see no activity for a while.

k&a&c I'll be in SL first 2 days, hopefully Solar Gel will be there. It was in regular room at Poly, but that was a few years ago. I don't remember seeing in my GF room last year. Good to know I can request it.

many thanks for the photo. It's a great help. Have decided to request an upper floor in conch key. Hopefully will get something nice plus the upper floor should reduce any possible noise from people walking back from the boat dock... I hope!
