Just finalized a split stay between the BC and the Poly for August!
I'd really love to have a balcony while at BC. If that's the only request I make, will it be honored? Is that usually a hard request to have fulfilled? I know the YC is a much better chance of a balcony, but I just really love the feel of the BC!

So excited. We just changed our plans to do a split stay and booked 4 nights at the Yacht Club. We stayed at the Beach Club last year and LOVED it. Can't wait to try the Yacht Club and spend time at Stormalong Bay again.

Stormalong Bay is one of the reasons we chose the BC for our first stay (as well as the resort's proximity to Epcot).

Here are a few questions about Stormalong Bay:
1. How crowed does that pool complex get?
2. Are you required to use a tube in the lazy river section?
3. We plan on returning to the BC during the afternoons to rest and swim. Does everyone do that?

The pool area can get pretty crowded during peak season.

You are not required to use a tube in lazy river. I go without them all the time, as do many.

A lot of people come back in the afternoon to swim. 12-3 seem to be the most crowded times.

It depends on what time of year you are going.

In the summer lots of people go to the pool in the afternoon. The heat is just way too much. But when we were there in June a couple years ago, we never had trouble finding a few chairs and always had a nice spot in the pool. Lots of people were at the pool but I wouldn't say it was overly crowded.

I don't think you need a tube for the lazy river. I didn't see any tubes when we were there but I might be wrong.

Enjoy your first visit to BC. It's a beautiful resort.

After everything I read on the boards, I expected it to be really busy so I was pleasantly surprised when we went last fall. Because the pool is so large, it felt less crowded than the pool at the Poly or BWI and we were always able to find chairs somewhere. It's probably busiest in the afternoon between 2-5, but we never found it unmanageable. You do not need to use a tube in the lazy river, but part of it is very deep.

Look for us. We bring our own really nice plastic wine glasses with us!

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Can't wait EasternshoreGal! Might need to up my game with the wine and bring plastic this year.:cool1:

Booked our flights and hope to finalize the hotel tonight woo hooooo :cool1:

I bought a dress last night that made me think of the Yacht Club, I hope this all comes together!!! http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1616529/speechless-chevron-dress-juniors.jsp

Yeah! That dress is great!:cool1:

So fun! I wish I was at SAB right now with a cold fruity beverage.:woohoo:

We are getting our roof replaced today. Sooooo loud. Can you say Holy Ibuprofin!! We had a hail storm a few years ago and luckily it is all covered by insurance.:cool1: Would hate for anything to interrupt my Disney plans.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sounds great, thanks.

I'm so excited about this trip and staying YC CL. Adding NSSHP and F&W festival to that, I may not want to leave!

To get to MK do you usually go through Epcot and monorail over to T&TC, then on to MK monorail? Providing you have hoppers of course.

Best way to get to Magic Kingdom is via bus. It takes longer to go thru Epcot, unless you were planning to be there first anyway and then hop to MK.

Maybe I'll do this, too. I usually put it in one of the refillable mugs. It's sort of unpleasant, actually, because I think the plastic absorbs the flavors of what else I've had (especially coffee).

On the subject of the refillable mugs, I'm not sure whether to get them or not. Our last trip, we didn't bother but had water delivered to our room. This time, we're staying CL, so I don't know that it makes sense to get a case of water for the duration of our trip. Since I imagine we'll be spending a good bit of time at the pool (being there in mid-August), I wonder if it would make sense to get them - at least for the kids. I'm not all that excited about the design, and it annoys me that they can't be reused from one trip to another (as in, you bring back the old mug and pay to get it re-charged for the next trip).

I still have 11 people to add to the BOG list from yesterday, and a few more below, so don't panic if you are not on it yet!

:goodvibes

Can't believe we got it going. :woohoo:
We are coming to celebrate my daughters high school graduation!
Arriving Monday June 9th and staying till the 14th.
My big splurge is to not only stay at the Beach Club (I love writing that:cool2:) but also added in Club Level! :yay::yay::yay:

I would love any advice you can give me as we have never stayed here, I've just admired from afar a never thought we'd ever stay.

YO

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:cool1:

Make sure you know what and where the secret entrance to the BC is. See the BC room post (Post #8 on Page 1) to read about it.

100 days until our very first stay at BC, 6/6/14-6/9/14! We've been there for breakfast and just to look around, but have never stayed there. We're super excited for Stormalong Bay!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:woohoo:

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Woot, woot, woot! It's time for three bananas - Imma coming back to the BC!

Dee - Please add us to the list, we just booked a SV room at the BC from August 17-23.

This will be our first no kid trip, leaving the teen at home to fend for himself. :thumbsup2

Now I'm entering panic mode since we are in our dining window and I haven't begun to plan the menu yet! Time to get cracking and learn this MDE thing.

Ooooh, can't wait.

That is so exciting!!!

:banana::banana::banana:

Consider yourself added.

I disappeared off the face of the earth, but I am back. Not sure if anyone remembers me?! My kids, sister and I ended up staying at POR this past December. We ate dinner at Yachtsman and we were all remembered why we love BC!! My sister loved her first trip so much, she asked when we were going back!!!! My DH said we could not go back until he and I went somewhere first!! Sweet, bring on F&W Festival this September!!! Our first trip away from the kids, well, it's our first trip away ever from them, DS (11) and DD (8) and we will be celebrating 16 years this August!! But I need help!! BC/YC or BWI? I have been reading bit on here and I saw the word refurb., do I stay away then?

Don't worry- we all have long memories around here!

:welcome: back!

Are you asking the lions whether to have a salad or the gazelle?

Teena provided some insight about your question about the refurb

If you book at the BC, let me know and I'll add you to the list.

You will have the best chance of getting a full balcony if that is your only request, but unfortunately, it is not guaranteed. It will depend on how crowded the resort is while you are there.

August is going to be a pretty busy time!

Personally, if I checked into the BC and the CMs told me I didn't have a room with a full balcony, I would ask it was possible to switch rooms, or maybe even transfer to the YC. Doesn't hurt to ask!

I guessed I miss something, but why does the thread title say "January / February"?

Did it always and I just miss it?

Congratulations! We are 115 days out, but counting down with great anticipation. We have done everything we can do at this point, but I wish there were more activities, choices, videos, whatever, to keep me in the Disney mode until FP+ choices are open on My Disney Experience. DIS unplugged and DIS boards are helping, but would like more. Any suggestions? :confused3 I think I have found all the relevant informational videos on YouTube available at the moment.

There are a bunch of links to Trip Reports, Videos, Photos, a Bing Map and lots of other BC/YC/Disney overload on Page 2 of this thread

:thumbsup2

:offtopic:Almost time to blow this popsicle stand... aka NYC!! I'm headed south where the temp will be triple what it will be here on Friday!! Come Friday and Vero Beach!!:beach:

~N :)

Have a fantastic trip!!!!

Play Ball!

We go through pages pretty fast here! When we reach 250 pages, the thread closes down and I have to start a new one. The Jan/Feb label helps us keep track of the current thread, which started in January. I"ll add March to the title in a couple of days.

Hope that helps

My hubby and I will be at the Yacht Club March 14-17 to celebrate my 40th (which is really July 6...but I don't want those crowds and weather)!!! We are staying club level and the kiddos are staying home! Don't feel too sorry for them, as we leave for a week in DL in May! Since this trip is adults only, we are doing the Keys to the Kingdom and Behind the Seeds tours. We have never stayed at the Yacht Club, so we can't wait!!!

Hey, did someone here try to PM me?

For the record, I DO have room (1 message) and I show that I have 1 unread msg but I can't access it.

If you sent the message, you may want to try emailing me at beachclubdee at yahoo

Ok thanks! Is it common for them to switch people over to the YC to accommodate requests?
Well be there aug 24-27th!

I'm so jealous that you are going to be there for St Patrick's Day ::yes::Just this morning I was telling my son about all the cool things happening at DTD and Raglan Road to celebrate:) Enjoy :goodvibes

^ Agree with this. Bus going to be quicker to MK pretty much every time. But we walk through Epcot a bunch of the time just for the fun of it (we have APs). YC/BC location is just so awesome!!::yes::
