Everybody is so sweet ... spoiling me and Jeanne and Lily and even Bob.

And your support is so wonderful.

Just returned from the Lung doctor (specialist). Absolutely loved him and feel I'm in great hands. Unfortunately not the best results. I have COPD and probably have for quite a while. Obviously there is no cure but he really feels he can get it under control and assured me if I do what he says, I'll be around for a long time. He said I have to stay away from sick people as much as possible. I laughed and said, "I work at Disney and do volunteer work at an elementary school." He said, "Well, don't hug and kiss sick people ... but you have to keep living your life." He's got me started on some things to get my current situation under control and then meds to take to keep me under control (twice daily forever).

He said I can go to Jeanne's on Wednesday and loaded me down with meds "just in case I flair up while there". Hopefully I won't have to use them.

I have some lung tests when I return down in Davenport.

I'm scared but feel with this new doctor things will be ok.

Sending good thoughts to you my dear!!! You will be fine. Dear Lord look what all you have been thru and you are stronger than ever....Looking forward to your smiling face in June in the BC Lobby!!!!

New revised forecast - we are now getting another 5 inches of snow tonight, on top of the 12 inches we got today!

Teena - are you missing the PA/NJ area???

Teena - you take care of yourself. Sounds like you have a top notch doctor. Follow his orders and rest!!!!!

NO I AM NOT MISSING THE PA/NJ AREA right now. However, in the summer, I do miss it big time. I hate Florida corn and tomatoes!!!!!

I can't rest. Today I took my last heavy steroid dose so hopefully tomorrow night they will be out of my system and I won't be so jittery and I can sleep more than 4 hours a night. Then watch out ... I'll probably sleep all day Saturday. I'm going to work Sunday and Monday, rest Tuesday and fly out Wednesday. I started packing ... so excited to see Jeanne and Lily! Tonight is a VD dance at Jeanne's school and Lily and her Dad are attending. Jeanne is a chaperone. If she sends pics, I'll forward to Dee to post here. She of course is wearing her Minnie Mouse red and white dress!!!

Here's my personal feeling on on-line check-ins. And remember, it's just my opinion as a guest, not as somebody that works there.

If I want to chat with the CM at the front desk and ask stuff like "I realize my room isn't ready yet, but could you give me an idea of what the view is or what floor it's on" and depending on the answer, I might say, "oh my, I really hate the first floor and requested a room not on the first floor ... is there something else available today?" ... then I would definitely NOT do an on-line check-in.

However, when we stay at the cabins, I honestly don't care where the cabin is and only thing I want is a ready room, so I check "ready room" as my only request and I do the on-line check-in ... so it's quicker. I don't need to talk to anybody about where it is or anything ... please just give me my packet, tell me my cabin number and off I go to get my golf cart.

So in your case, if you don't have any questions or you won't be making a change to the room that was assigned to you because you don't care about anything except getting a room (like me most of the time), then do an on-line check-in. Quick and easy!!!

However, if you want to chat about your room location, etc. and perhaps make changes (if there is anything else available that day and if not then possibly setting up a room change for when your "desired location or room" is available), then for sure do NOT do an on-line check-in.

Hope that helps.

Good advice, Teena! I am the chatter type so online would never work for me. I like to analyze my choices etc. And believe me I am all about the view on a room - as Teena well knows!!! So online check in wouldn't work for me as honestly if my view isn't pretty it would really put a damper on my vacation....

Hi! We hard heading to BC 4-20 to 4-26. It'll be me, DH, DS 13 and DD 11. This will be our first stay at the BC. In our previous stays, we've been at CSR, so we are excited about trying a new resort and staying at one of the Deluxes.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1

:woohoo:

Speaking of upcoming trips.....I am working on trying to get back! What is the typical weather and crowd situation in late April/ early May?

That's great to hear. I haven't stayed at that time of year, so I can't answer from experience. I think as long at you are not close to Easter or spring break, the crowds should be ok. Weather- who knows? Could be gorgeous, could be rainy, but it shouldn't be as hot as the summer months that I know and love!

:goodvibes

Can't wait! Going April 4-12..We have never stayed at YC...staying CL...Has anyone ever rented boats...etc...my kids are very excited about this. :) :)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:yay:

Are you talking about the water mice or a big ole boat? I think I have some reviews from other guests on Page 1- the ameneties/marina post, either Post 4 or Post 5.

:thumbsup2

Hi YC Experts,
For many years, my family has stayed at the BC or the GF, and although we have always enjoyed walking through the YC and eating at the CG and YS, we have never stayed there. Until this April! I have some questions that I'm hoping you YC fans can answer for me. We have a CL pool/lagoon view room. (1) I read on the disboards that the CL lagoon view rooms do not have two queen beds + a day-bed as an option, but on the WDW site, it is an option. Is it an option? (2) We would really like a room at the end of the fifth floor overlooking Stormalong Bay - is that enough detail for a room request or do I need more for the room assigner? Do those rooms have at least 2 queen beds? Are these rooms a long walk from the lounge? (3) I read somewhere that they are experimenting with new CL offerings. Any word on how long the experiment is going to last? Has anyone been there recently to try the new things? Thanks very much.

:welcome:

Teena gave you good answers to your room questions. KerryCM posted about some of the new offerings at CL this past week. Maybe 7-10 pages back.

:)

Well then, Can't wait to meet you in August!

:welcome:

I don't see you on the Be Our Guest list, so I will add you for August.

:cool1:

Last I heard and it was from other CMs ... nothing official ... was they hoped to start soft openings in March and an official opening sometime in April. I can't wait. I'm hoping it's "mild" so Lily will like it this summer.

I hope that time frame is correct. We are there May 5-10

The board has been getting busier lately!

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm with so much snow this year! Winter is dragging on here, but it is relatively normal. I can't believe how much snow is happening south of us!

Teena - I hope the sight of your girls makes you feel better. The COPD diagnosis sucks, but you've beaten so many other challenges in life, so I'm sure you will learn to live with the COPD. I bet Lily is adorable at the VD dance!

Happy trip planning everyone! SAB dreams are a wonderful way to deny the snow outside.

Never too busy for a Dis Friend!!!!!!!!!

:cool1:, We will be staying at BC from 5/23-5/26, I will definitely be on the look out for you and say hi :goodvibes

The Cape May Cafe is a bright, airy buffet restaurant. The decor is reflective of the beach theme. The outer rim is ringed with colorful canvas beach umbrellas.

Cape May Cafe New England Clam Bake Dinner: Unlike the usual buffet set-up, this restaurant features a central island where the selections are displayed. There are large steam trays that are continuously filled with snow crab legs, clams and mussels. These popular items are always available hot and freshly prepared.

Other offerings on the buffet:
Carved Roasted Pork Loin in addition to the carved Top Beef Sirloin / Citrus Couscous Salad / Chicken Arugula Pasta Salad / Tomato Cucumber Mozzarella Salad / Quinoa Shrimp Salad with Hearts of Palm / Green Mussels with Spicy Seaweed Salad / Sautéed Beef Tips with a Gourmet Brandy Cream Sauce / Tortellini with Lobster Sauce / Seafood Pot Pie / Hand-Battered Fried Tilapia or Cod (Sundays and Fridays) / Fried Calamari (Tuesdays and Thursdays) / Fried Shrimp (Mondays Wednesdays and Saturdays) and Kids Fish Nuggets.

The above list is from 2010, so I don't know if the rotations have changed. Sue, which day did you dine there?

Can anyone else who has been there recently confirm any of the rotation items?

I would love to find out when the ribs are served, too!

:thumbsup2

Well if everything is true with the rotation, we will be there on the night that they have fried shrimp . I am going to have some very happy family members....between the friend shrimp and the snow crab legs....we are going to be in Heaven :cloud9:.

Teena- sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I agree with the Doc. You have to keep living your life:hug: It's all about managing it the best that you can. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

When I am done shopping I call Mears Taxi service (Disney approved provider) on my Cell phone 1 407 422-2222 and the cab picks me up at the Walmart in about 15 mins.

~NM
Thanks, NM. You have perfect timing. I was going to search for that taxi number, but you saved me the trouble.

Do you know how long it takes for a cab to arrive if I call from the BC around 7:30am?

The last time we stayed at the BC was the last few days of April and first few days of May in 2011 and the weather was gorgeous. It was sunny and in the 80's. And best of all, it wasn't too humid. We loved it.

:cool1:, We will be staying at BC from 5/23-5/26, I will definitely be on the look out for you and say hi :goodvibes

We ate at Cape May in January and fried shrimp is served on Sundays and Wednesdays now. When we were there on a Saturday in December there wasn't any fried shrimp.

I just wanted to tell you - a few years ago my mom kept having a chronic bronchitis every winter, went to pulmonologists and was diagnosed with COPD. Then she got better, it came back again the next winter, and after other doctor visits, it turned out she would have asthma that was brought on by her bronchitis, not COPD. She now keeps it under control with a medicine and an inhaler - singular - that she uses when things get uncomfortable.

Anyways my point being, don't freak out, diagnoses can change, and either way there are a lot of treatments! You wouldn't even know my mom has anything wrong at all!

Teena, sending you lots of hugs from our family. Thought of you in Newport last month - we found a new fabulous beach house rental right on the beach where it's flat and shallow - much like Huntington. Yay! So sorry to miss you next week - we're arriving Thursday, February 20! But it's for a good cause - have a wonderful time with your girls! :)

Thank you. I'm hoping the inhaler, tudorza pressair, will get me under control. At the price per month, it should have me doing cartwheels in the lobby every Sunday and Monday. If this keeps every sinus infection I get from turning into bronchitis, I'll be a happy camper. The sinus infections I can handle but when it goes into bronchitis (like it does a few times every year), that's rough. Coughing all the time and wheezing ... so scary when you can't breathe right. I'm so happy to hear about your Mom. Gives me hope!!

Oh I want to hear all about the beach and the house. We're hoping for next summer and was only going to look in Huntington. When you have time, email me details about the house and mostly the beach and ocean. You know my concerns!! Jeanne is still afraid of going into the ocean in California after I had to go in and pull her out ... yep, at 64 I pulled out my 31 year old. Didn't know I had it in me but she couldn't get back in by herself and she's a strong swimmer. That drop right down ... it was over your head twenty feet after going in.

I'm so sad I'm going to miss seeing you and spending time catching up!

Teena... sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I hope the inhaler helps you to breath better and you start to feel better soon. Listen to the Doc and rest as much as you can. Seeing the girls I'm sure will help you feel a lot better!! Stay away from all those sickies no hugging.. fist pumps instead!! :cloud9::cloud9:

Glad you have some answers Teena! I will keep praying for continued improvement. Have fun with Jeanne and lily. :-)

Well, I'm the fixed BC part-time greeter .. almost ten years now. We have three roving part-time greeters that rove between the BC and YC (Al, Dave and Gene). The full-time greeter at the YC is Richard ... he use to be the full timer at the BC. Then the fixed YC part-time greeter is Gary. Gary is super friendly if you happen to be there the two days a week he works. You'd love him I'm sure. Right now we are in the process of getting a full-time greeter at the BC. I believe Al might be going for it and there is a chance Richard might come back to the BC. I'm just a talker (I love my BC guests) and love everything Disney and want everybody's vacation to be the best possible and if I can help you with plans or problems, that's all I want to do!!

You're awesome and one of my favorite parts of our Disney vacation was talking to you! Georgia still talks about her pins!
