We checked in yesterday for our 10 night stay at BC. I had originally booked Garden View, and had requested first floor and done online checkin.

Imagine my total shock upon arrival yesterday to learn that we has been upgraded to Club Level for our stay! I was in tears in the lobby.

Our room has a gorgeous full balcony overlooking the front of the resort. We can see Spaceship Earth, Illuminations fireworks, and MK fireworks from our balcony. We are a short walk to the lounge, which we enjoyed three times yesterday.

I am overwhelmed at this incredible amount of pixie dust we have received. I would love to understand their upgrade algorithm so I know how we got so lucky. Thank you Mickey!

That is fantastic!!!

Enjoy your trip.

Hi y'all!

Will you please add me to your BOG list? We are staying at the YC for the first time for a quick weekend birthday celebration for DD and DH - Aug 1-3! Thank you for all of the wonderful information and pictures!!! :goodvibes

:welcome:

Happy to add you to the list.

:cool1:

Had to rescue us from page two! Never had to scroll to page two :)

Dreaming of SAB on this rainy day

What is up with that?!?

Doesn't happen often, but thanks for taking care of us.

I have been a major lurker here for a while now - I did post forever ago with our dates - but have been reading reading and reading some more since then. Only 21 days until our BC trip ! This will be our third family trip - in 2009 we stayed at POFQ and in 2010 at CBR. Had to wait this long to be able to afford a deluxe :) I think I mentioned in my other thread how excited I am to be so close to the UK Pavilion and the fish and chips (I'm from England, but have lived in South Dakota for almost 18 years). It'll be me, dh and our almost 11 year old son. Our first trip, in 2009, which we saved for 5 years for, was when our boy was almost 6 - at the time, my dad, back in England, was very sick (cancer). The day after we arrived at POFQ, I got the dreaded call from England to say that he had passed away. My mum and sister insisted that we stay at Disney - and, knowing my dad, he would have agreed. They arranged his funeral for the following week - so we did stay. Yes, it was very strange and surreal, but we celebrated his life during that week. I flew back to SD after our vacation, then immediately flew to England for his funeral. Oh - and that week at Disney, I swear it rained - poured - all day, every day. A tropical storm stalled over Orlando, and it was just...wet.
So - we just had to go back the following year - our "do over" vacation. We had a wonderful time at CBR, and nothing terrible happened - the weather even stayed nice !!
This year - I am anticipating warm - but not too hot - weather. No phone calls from England. Fish and chips. Lots of pool time. Ice cream and milk shakes. Walks around the lake. Fun in the parks - of course. More fish and chips. And - basically - the best vacation ever !! Now I just need the next 21 days to go by in a flash, I can hardly stand the waiting !!!

3 more weeks!!! :banana::banana::banana:

Hope the trip makes up for the heartache of the past trip.

:cool1::cool1: I was overwhelmed as well when I was upgraded to CL. I stood on my balcony overlooking SAB and was like " is this for real?" Enjoy

30 days until we are back at the Beach Club:cool1:

So looking forward to this trip with my grandsons and celebrating Brady's
5th birthday.

How often do people get upgraded? Should I not book club level in advance?

It happens, but not very often.
If you want club level then book club level. :thumbsup2

I agree that it doesn't happen that often. I've been to the YC a few times. Once we were upgraded to water view, and I just about cried for that. One other time we were upgraded from garden view to Club Level. That was a total shocker and the best ever.

The key point is if you do want it, you should book it. Never expect anything, but if it does happen, you can :cheer2: I think just staying at YC/BC is still dreamy enough for me...

On the very first page of this thread - the very first photo of the BC - whare exactly is that part of the BC ? If the photographer turned around and faced the other way, what would they be seeing ? I have this pic as my background on my desktop - and imagine myself sitting on one of the benches. Just don't know what I'd be looking at ! LOL

You would be looking at Crescent Lake. This is the "main entrance" lake side. Go to Bing Maps and type in 1800 Epcot Resorts Blvd, Orlando, FL. Yes, you have to use Orlando even tho it is Lake Buena Vista.

I've been checking for Lagoon/Water view rooms at the YC for our stay (already booked w/ Garden) and today saw that there are NO rooms available when we go 10/19. The hotel is fully booked already!

Well, after a few very tumultuous weeks, it's hard to believe we'll be checking into the BC in 2 days. My FIL passed away on Sunday, after months of at-home hospice care, suffering from Alzheimer's. Last week at this time, we were considering cancelling our trip, not knowing how things were going to pan out. However, we've been told by everyone that now that he's gone, we should continue on with our plans. While everyone is saddened by his death, we are all comforted knowing that he is no longer suffering. We're looking forward to making magical memories next week, and we'll celebrate FIL's memory as best we can while there. Very much looking forward to warm sun, palm trees and Mickey Bars.

Nothing gets combined/put onto the Magic Bands. All your passes and reservations are linked/entered into your MDE account. All of your Active Magic Bands will have access to everything linked/entered in your MDE account.

Think of the MB like a debit card. We have 2 checking accounts (1 for bills, 1 for everyday stuff) and 1 savings account with our bank. The money in those accounts is not loaded on our debit cards. Our 2 debit cards, wife's and mine, can access the money is all 3 of those accounts. That is exactly how the MBs work. Our money in the bank is just like your passes, tickets and dining reservations in your MDE account.

Thanks, Dan. Very clear and concise easy of putting it. I like the comparison to a debit/credit card.

Lagoon/H2O rooms unavailable for our Presidents Day week 2015 stay, too. I assume it has something to do with the renovations at BC. My guess is that when they tell Guests they are being moved from BC to YC they want to give them a nice view for their trouble. Just a guess, though. The other guess is that they'll have started upgrading those Lagoon View rooms at the YC but somebody posted on this thread earlier they think that's not the case.

dansdad is correct- this is not a common occurrence.

My understanding is that it sometimes happens if certain room categories are oversold, so they have to move guests "up a notch". Or sometimes when the resort is not fully booked, some lucky guests will get "pixie-dusted" with an upgrade. But lately, the Beach and Yacht Club have both been close to fully booked, so pixie-dust upgrades are less likely.

If you want to be guaranteed a club level room, you have to book it. If you wait until you check in to the resort with the hope that you can just add club level when you arrive, you could be disappointed if the rooms are sold out (this is especially a risk as some club level rooms will be taken out of service during the renovation process)

:)

This is exactly what you would be looking at. (Except those 3 handsome young men will probably not be in your view) You can see Crescent Lake about midrange in this picture and the Boardwalk resort and shops beyond that.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. I think you are getting some great advice about going forward with your trip plans and honoring your FIL by making your own family memories in the healing Disney environment.

Wow. Maybe a big conference that weekend? Planning on going May 2015. Hoping that club renovations will be done at BC but wondering if I have to book earlier than I usually do to get the club level and view I want

I agree that you should enjoy your plans with your family. I went through an almost identical situation with my father only we were living in the Orlando area at the time. The next day we went to Disney- it's a wonderful place to help you heal and remind you that even when something sad happens there is still so much joy in life. Have a wonderful trip and I'm sorry for your loss.

So on a happier note, after spending the last few days reading the 200+ pages of this thread I'm finally caught up:cool1: Thanks to everyone's contributions on here, it has made learning about the Beach Club lots of fun! I'm a former CP (Blizzard Beach guard), CM (studios entertainment), and Orlando area resident so I know a ton about WDW, but we moved back to Jersey a few years ago and now it is up to me to plan Disney trips for my family:scared: I've stayed all over Disney, but never at an Epcot resort! We're super excited to be staying at the Beach Club for the first time- August 10-17. I'm hoping (and my DH is insisting) that I can enjoy the resort this time and be less of an OCD commando!
