(2014-2020) Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA + VILLAS Information & Questions

Hi everyone! DH just greenlit a June/July trip, his only request was GF! We've never done a Deluxe before, Mods usually with an occasional Value thrown in. I have a few questions. We'll be there over the 4th of July. I'm guessing we won't be doing a park that day, so should I spring for TPV? And if not, are there really any bad views? Garden on Lagoon? WWYD?
The resort really doent have a "bad" view. If you can swing it get a view of the water the fireworks and EWP are fun to watch. Or save the money and walk to bait dock and watch from there.

I'm new to the DIS (but not new to GF/Disney) so forgive me for replying to an older post. I just found this thread. I wanted to say thanks for the info on 4422! I didn't realize it was a Deluxe! We always request 4320 when we go with our kids and have been fortunate to get it every time, so far ( I hope I didn't jinx myself). We would be ok with 4319 too, but I'm afraid the lounge noise would be awful in 4419 and 4420. My kids are 16 and 11 now so they sleep really late! I think I would be ok with 4422 ( if it's not that much smaller). My husband and I were in 4421 last month (king turret room), and it is so nice and quiet, but I wonder if that's because of the hallway that leads back to the turret room which takes you away from the noise a bit? We've been in 4421 before and like the convenience to the lounge, but 4021 (5th floor king turret room) was SO quiet because there aren't any rooms above you. It makes me sad that my girls won't ever get to enjoy the king turret rooms because they won't allow 4 people. I'm talking about the spectacular 180 degrees of windows in the room with a dead on view of the castle ( not to mention the walk in closet with the built in dresser). It does have the big garden tub (like 4320), but we all love bubble baths, so we like the tub!

Hey Dispro1! I'm resurrecting one of your older posts as I can't sleep and I'm going back through all the posts on the turret rooms!

I was going to call tomorrow to update my room request and specifically ask for 4021 or 4421 - it sounds like they both have castle views? Is there a stairwell near 4021 from the 5th floor to the lounge or just an elevator? Is it a long walk? I like the idea of quiet but also like the idea of staying on the same floor as the lounge. But if it's just up and down a few stairs and not like a long set of halls and elevators I think I'll ask for 4021 as my first choice, then 4421, then any king deluxe turret on the 4th or 5th floor - haha pretty specific right!

The staircases are very charming! The king turret rooms are on one side of the oval that makes up that section of the main building CL. The stairs are on the opposite. So walk around a corner and a few steps and that's it.

I ran up and down the stairs and didn't use an elevator myself. It felt more GRAND:goodvibes

Thanks Trishadono!! Would 4021 be your top choice for the king turret rooms? Obviously I will be ecstatic in ANY room they put me in though!!

We had 4030. 5th floor has huge ceiling!!!! This one was towards monorail so views mostly of VGF and pools with poly in the distance. The other row of them would have a better view but the rooms are so gorgeous that any would be great.

As always - thanks!!

Hi Everyone! Just back from our second stay at the beautiful GF! This time we stayed in the Villas. This was the first time staying there since we bought points. It was well worth the wait!!! DH declared that we can no longer stay anywhere but VGF - :yay:. I think he was hooked when DS5 woke up early and he was able to take him into MK for an hour or 2 during EMH and come back for a 9 am breakfast. SO, I am anxiously awaiting my 11 month window so that I can book next Easter week! We were there for 10 days (4 at VGF, and 7 off-site)...You cannot go from VGF to off-site, I don't care how big the condo is :) So next year we will only be there for 6 days, but to be honest, we were dragging by day 6, then dd8 got sick and her and I spent a whole day in the room (off site). We are very excited for our next trip!!

One question. Does anyone know if the coffee pots in a VGF studio turn off automatically? DH and I have this inside joke about not turning off the coffee pot (quick version: he remembers as a kid his family went on a road trip, 45 minutes away his Mom freaked out about the coffee pot being on, they got in a fight, turned around to turn it off, when they got home, it was off). So, we are sitting at O'Hana for breakfast and suddenly I realized - I didn't turn off the stinkin coffee pot!! We were going to Epcot for the day and wouldn't be back until LATE. I couldn't leave it alone...I could not be the one to possibly burn down the VGF!!! I knew it wouldn't start a fire, but it would be a mess when we got back, and you just never know! So, that dear sweet man called VGF for me and had mousekeeping unplug it :love2: Actually, he was just calling to ask if they did or did not turn off (we had a bet which we never figured out because it doesn't say it on the pot whether it does or not), but instead they sent someone to unplug it. So can anyone help me win my bet? HAHA!!!

Good morning. Yes, both of those turret rooms have castle views:) As a matter of fact, I just booked a deluxe king room for our anniversary next year and requested these room numbers also. I hope both of us get what we want. As I said before, we have requested these rooms three or four times and have always gotten one of them, so...fingers crossed! The fifth floor room was my first request, but you do have to walk to the other side of the floor. It's not a very long walk (width of the lobby), and then one flight of carpeted stairs like you would find in a house. Either room is great.

Hi, just booked 1 night at GF, Outer Building, Lagoon View. We'll switch to CR the next morning but opted to check out GF for our first night, since we are eating at 1900PF anyway. So, tell me about buildings. Is there one that is a favorite over others? We are heading out to AK the next morning, will be letting bell services handle the luggage transfer so close to boat launch won't be an issue. No strollers or scooters so no worries about elevators and don't need ground floor. Don't even need early check in above all else since we arrive at check in time. So, when I do room requests I can concentrate on building. What about Dormer Rooms? Do folks typically like them or don't like them?

Hi I read on another page that the kids area at GF was under construction. This is the first place I saw it. Has anyone heard anything about this? Thanks

I can't find anywhere that anyone has actually posted it but we are here and the splash pad is closed. Stinks! Anyone know a timeframe?? By the looks of the gates around it this isn't an overnight fix

Fingers crossed for sure! I have asked for those two rooms as my first preference and then any 4th of 5th floor turret. We're there the week before Thanksgiving, which I've read is typically a slow week so maybe we have a better chance of getting that request - plus I made the request 8 months in advance so hopefully that counts for something - LOL! I'll keep hoping :hyper:

I think we'd be fine walking from the 5th floor as long as there were stairs and we didn't always have to wait for an elevator. I just really, really, really don't want the 2nd floor kings because of their location and having to use that second elevator. I mean at that point I think I'd even rather have a standard CL king on the 4th or 5th floor but I don't think I can request a whole different category of room if I don't get a turret room...that'd be nice though!

That's it, they like them or don't like them:rotfl2:!
I wouldn't mind it if only 2 people cause the space is a little smaller or if it was a colder month and I wouldn't use a balcony as much because of the enclosed style vs open ones.

The ceilings would be charming, just less space in room and on balcony.

Ya, I read it on another post too. I can't remember the dates but wasn't for too long. That being said, if it was my trip I'd be :(

Yea definitely a bummer since we have a 2 year old. Can we hop legally or illegally to the new poly pool or does it have locks like blt? Even if we own at blt but are staying here am I not allowed to hop to blt? Does the contemporary have a nice pool area with splash pad?

PM-ing you.

I don't know about the rules regarding hoping but I did want to mention that WL has a splash pad just like the GF one. They just finished it this past December. Themed slightly differently than Mad Hatter but otherwise the same. They do have a fence around the pool (all pools on property are getting them) but when we were there it's not controlled access, just a garden type gate that you open and enter.

Thanks! That tells me NO to the Dormer room. I don't like club level at WL due to the enclosed balcony.

Does anyone know or have experience with having a garden view in an outer building on the first floor but that can still view/catch glimpses of wishes from balcony (patio?) ?

I definitely want first floor but would love to be able to see wishes even if it's just a little piece of them.
