For a studio (DVC), do I have to make a special request to get a separate shower? I saw it mentioned on here separate shower & bath and have seen photos of it. But wanted to make sure if it is the same for all studios at VGF or if I have to special request that. One of us has a bit of a mobility issue and separate shower would be fantastic.
There are pictures of the floor plan out there. Take a look at one it will help. The bathroom has one room with the shower and one with a tub/shower combo. Both have a sink but only one has a toilet. They are beautiful too!

So when using touring plans you can "look" at each floor. It is helpful so see where the dormer rooms are. Usually top floor AND the rooms towards the ends of the floor below. So mostly 5th floor plus some of 4th.

I have been making these maps for myself so when I get the room text or check in I know if it will work.

For this trip I really don't have a major concern. I would prefer the rooms ending in "30's" because they look like better water views.

Feel free to "roll your eyes", I know not everyone is so peculiar about their planning:rotfl:

Oh, I'm not rolling my eyes!!! I'm peculiar too or I wouldn't be asking!! :jumping1:

so, do I just fax over my room # requests or call GF directly??

You can't actually call gf. Just call the call center where you book a room and ask to put a request on your res. for non dormer room and that should work.

Can we talk about views and requesting views/rooms?? We have reserved an outer building, deluxe room, garden view room and I realize there are only a few of these rooms in each building so my choices are limited. I've seen the various views on Touring Plans and (before really researching) on our reservation (online) I requested either Sago Key or Conch Key and checked the box saying early check in took priority over my room requests..

and then I realized we won't even land at MCO until 12:30pm (if the plane is on time) and that means probably not at GF until 2pm - which is only 1 hr prior to check-in time so my "need" for early check in should not take priority over my room requests. And I can't change my room requests online anymore - the boxes are greyed out....dang it!

A few of the room views I've seen (like BPK) are of the next building or I think even in Boca the view was the back of a tree! Is there still way to fax/email the hotel and put in a different room/view request?

I really just want to request: "NO dormer room, 3 or 4th floor and requesting a nice view - NOT of the side of a building or the back of a tree"....

the specific view doesn't really matter - a water view would be nice or the pool would be fine too - I just don't want to pay this much for a view and it be the side of the building next to me or the backside of the pool pump equipment and that's all I see!

Thought/suggestions??

As you mentioned with the deluxe rooms there are very few of these. All of these rooms face inwards for lack of a better description. None will have a "bad" view. However not all of these rooms have a balcony so personally my request would be balcony followed by whatever building I preferred. Just call the main reservation number to add specific requests to your reservation.

Which rooms would not have a balcony?? I never realized that? I would LOVE one of those!! How would I figure out which ones have one/not have one?

Pretty sure that all buildings have balconies on floors 2,3, and 4.

Deluxe rooms on the fourth/top floor don't have balconies because they are next to suites which use the balcony space. Those are the only rooms I can think of without them.

So the 4th and 5th floor don't have balconies, I thought it was only the 5th floor that did not have them ?

We were in SL on 4th floor with turret room and balcony so thought all buildings were just no balcony on the 5th floor.

Oh ok, my understanding is top floor deluxe rooms don't have a balcony but perhaps I was misinformed. SL only has 4 floors so maybe they took some balcony away from the suite next door to add to the tower/deluxe room

*edited to add this photo, is the balcony for the fourth floor tower room on the other side?

Sorry, daughter says I was wrong we were on 3 (I think I thought it was like RPC with 5 floors) Our balcony was to the left in the photo. But I think for OP as they are not CL the rooms with balconies would be on 2,3 or 4 since all the other buildings have 5 floors (I think).

I would still just word my request as: balcony, and what building you want. Listing the most important request first.

Can't wait - 31 more days!!

What is a dormer room?
Sorry to ask a stupid question.....We have lagoon view....want a balcony, with a decent view...

Whats the best house , floor ..in your opinion.

Hi guys! Random question... Is the gingerbread house and the other decorations up by the week of Thanksgiving at the GF and the parks? I know the Magic Kingdom decorations go up right after Halloween.

Planning ahead for a possible Thanksgiving week 2017 trip now that our eldest daughter is in "real" school!

Dormer rooms are usually on top floors, both room and balcony are smaller, and balcony has solid wall instead of railing, so sitting in chair you can't see out. Have to stand to see over wall. Some people like them. Ceiling is vaulted. I don't care for them, it's a personal pref. I also feel room is darker, less light comes in because of solid balcony.

I believe it was finished sometime around the 20th of November last year. We are going just after Thanksgiving this year to make sure we can see it.

OK so I've looking over all of the available room views for the "outer building, deluxe room, queen beds" and I know that my #1 request would be "balcony" because I do NOT want a dormer room!

I"m assuming I should then suggest buildings I would prefer (I'm assuming in order of importance) - BUT do you think that there is any reason why I can't put down as one of the buildings I would prefer as the Main building even though my room type specifies outer building?

I mean, could I request: "Balcony, Buildings #4, #7 or #5"

or is that totally wrong and inappropriate? :rolleyes1
