Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Every day included ham/turkey/2 kinds of sliced cheese, hard boiled eggs, bagels, breads, pastries, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, juices, milk, soy milk too.

Even though desserts were mostly the same each night, they were different than we are used to seeing at BC and Poly, so we were happy. Also, each night the chef made one different "special" dessert - each night it was very good!

More great pics yay!! Nice room views. We love facing the pool. Great people watching in central courtyard/gardens. Sometimes we saw Cinderella's carriage with the bride in it going by.

Sorry you didn't enjoy POR very much. It's our fav moderate. For my (adult) daughter & I the room size is fine. I can see how it would feel cramped with a family. If we aren't in a deluxe, POR is our go to resort. The grounds are beautiful. And love their make your own pasta bar. Even when I'm staying at a deluxe I've been known to go there for the Pasta :-).

Seeing your pics is making me even more excited to return to The Grand in August! It sure does spoil you!!

We are getting closer to our August trip so now I'm thinking of room requests... We are booked Outer Building Garden View - we lucked out with a LV upgrade the last time we stayed on a GV reservation so I am not expecting that again. Are there king bed rooms with daybeds anywhere in GV rooms? It is myself, DH and DD5 - she loves the day beds! I don't really want a pool view (when we had one in SL it was louder than we liked) but are there any GV rooms that don't look at the pools? Thanks for any thoughts you may have!

TJA - thanks you for sending the pictures from your GF stay. The food at RPC looks so appetizing. I think the food has been upgraded since I was last there and since reading about the food offerings there recently. I think I remember reading that the GF has a new chef. I could be wrong. Can't remember much lately. It's the lack of vacation and old age setting in.

Nevertheless, thank you for sharing and I hope you get back to the GF soon.

We are only two weeks away! I emailed our TA about room requests and if she would be faxing our request for us, and her response was "I don't know what you are talking about. That isn't how travel agents make requests." I just dropped the issue - she has been super weird about room requests! I understand she can't guarantee what location we get, but geez she doesn't have to be rude / short with me. So the question is - do I just fax it myself or do I have faith that she is taking care of us?

@TJA - those pictures are absolutely fantastic. 3 weeks from now we will get our GF stay!!! Not RPC, but you know, I think it will do. :)

Thank you for reminding us of the joys of the Lounge, TJA! Mmm, I have a tub or two of strawberries in the fridge and the recipe in the Delicious Disney cookbook. Strawberry Soup here we come! Of course, it won't taste the same as when you carry the tiny cup to your table and slowly consume the pink lusciousness while enjoying the view of the manicured gardens, the sun beginning to dip below the palms. *sigh* Thanks for the memories!

TJA, those pictures are amazing! It's making me excited for our first GF stay, it's still a good while away but still getting excited, we aren't booked in the RPC but your pictures sure do make it tempting!

Conch & Sago are away from the pool. And from what I've heard they have nice marina views. And if you look at resort map, the end of Boca Chica near Narcossees is far enough away from the pool. We had a room in Boca Chica just a tad past pool, but with balcony closed we never heard a thing. I like staying near the pools. Ive had rooms in RPC, & Boca Chica looking out at courtyard pool & courtyard. And lagoon view in Big Pine.
We were given a room in Boca with a King and daybed, but we wanted 2 queens. My adult daughter didn't want 2 weeks on a day bed, so they moved us. The king room seemed smaller too. I can't remember if it was a GV or Lagoon view.

Thank you for this information! I would love to have a marina view... I'm going to start working on our request... I have to figure out what is most important to us... king bed? no dormer? away from pool? marina view?

Your travel agent works for you, and you have the right to question how she is making your requests. Mine has our requests noted on our reservation. When you do online check there will also be one options to tick. Building, floor, can't remember what else. Some resorts look at faxes, notably the POR resorts. Not sure whether GF does, but you're welcome to try it, usually 4-5 days before arrival.

I always agonize about room location! No Dormer is high on our list!

Agreed! We had a dormer a couple of summers ago and it just wasn't for me! I see you are also going in August to GF - have you done your room request yet?

Can I ask why you don't like the dormer room? I was thinking of asking for one because the vaulted ceilings looked nice. Maybe I should rethink it?
