I wouldn't choose a TPV at gf because the TPV rooms at CR have an amazing view. At gf you can see the castle and fireworks buts it's not as awesome as Cr. Gf I choose for food and hotel ambiance.

However if you truly plan on being at the hotel for long periods and will watch the fireworks from your room etc. then you would enjoy it.

I have stayed in the deluxe king both octagon and the2nd floor TPV rooms. I did not miss the balcony in the octagon because I sat in the lounge instead. There are 2 very large patios on the 3rd floor that are rarely occupied, you could sit out there too.

If I ever go back with dh I would do deluxe king because bed size most important for him. With dd I wou do a std because I think it wouldn't matter for her.

Sounds like a great birthday trip! Enjoy
I loved the 3rd floor patio kinda facing Poly, good for watching our Electric Parade from :-)

Four years ago next month was my first trip back to WDW in over 10 years. We stayed POR in AB 14 - the preferred locations -- it was less than a minute to the River Mill or the bus stop and it was a lovely resort. Every morning while the teenagers slept a bit later than I did, I'd walk over to POFQ and get coffee and beignets and eat them on the way back....they never knew what they missed sleeping in!!! We had no problem with buses (POR and CBR get bashed for too many bus stops), and had a very nice vacation.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Tom
Lol Tim, that was very bad of you!!! Hope you wiped the sugar off your face before going back to the room!

I could drive them over :) And finally meet you in person.... I am sure one of my girls wouldn't mind taking a ride over to the Grand with Mom :drive:

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I received a letter stating the pool will be closed MLK weekend (when we are staying). It will be going through routine maintenance and will remain closed January16-19.

Well, time to get re acquainted with this thread!! I just switch us from AKL CL over to GF because there will be construction while we are there. We just have a garden view outer building.

What suggestions do you have for building requests? :)

We are back from our stay-we had connecting rooms in Boca Chica, was supposed to be a garden view, but we had a view of the fireworks, which was fantastic. The rooms were a great size, we had all of our requests easily accommodated (crib in the room, microwave, adjoining rooms). We had a pretty big delay getting checked in because of magic band issues and as a result were given three fast passes to any ride on two consecutive days! well worth the minor inconvenience (we didn't complain or anything, they just did that). The pools were great (although the pool bar closes really early) and the convenience can't be beat.

The biggest negative for us was food related-we are not the type to book meals six months in advance, or even guess when/where we will eat-which makes this somewhat hard-we just find it very hard with five young children to know where we will be at a specific hour for dinner that far in advance. It was virtually impossible to get in to dinner anywhere other than the cafeteria. our one saving grace was finding the bar at citricos to have dinner late at night (with grandparents in the room with the kids)-otherwise we ate more French fries and chicken nuggets than any one person should in a lifetime! We went to Disney springs two evenings and were able to use an app to book tables easily. But on site eating was a challenge for sure.

I like Boca Chica. Looking out at courtyard pool and main building. Central location and close to Beach pool too.

We love the main building, especially a room overlooking the main lobby. But we also love a theme park view. Do any of the rooms overlooking the main lobby also have a theme park view?? I'm looking at a map and thinking probably not....

I believe there are some King deluxe turret rooms that do. I don't believe it is as clear a shot as the ones on the 2nd floor, but I could be wrong.
