Hey, guys. I could use some major pixie dust.

I might have to cancel my upcoming December vacation! Again! :crazy2:

I've already canceled 3 trips in the last year (this past August, February and last December)! :sad1: Agh!!! I go with two of my three sisters, and we split the costs. Even if I could afford it, I wouldn't really like a solo trip. We are all trying to get dates and finances straightened out and nothing seems to be working!! We all miss the Grand Floridian so much. Even if we have to downgrade to another deluxe or a moderate, I'm still okay with that. I just can't believe this is happening again!! My little deposit just keeps following me right along...:rotfl2:
Sorry to hear this, but hopefully it will all work out. Even if you don't stay there you can visit GF lots, lots, lots!

Officially booked my DS' graduation trip at the VGF for June! So excited! So a few questions, we booked a lakeview studio. Any room recommendations that I should request? How far are the villas from the main building and buses/monorail? Also, we will be arriving via DME. hoping that I just get a text with our room # before we arrive like I did this past Sept when we stayed at POR. But if that does not happen, where do we check in at if we are staying at the villas? The main building or the villas building? Thanks!

We haven't yet stayed in the villas, so I cannot comment on the room -- they are a distant 35-45 second walk from the main building and the monorail -- although you must go into the main building and up to the second floor for the monorail. For that I would add an hour's time as we never seem to be able to make it directly to the monorail without stopping at the shops first! Congratulations on booking the trip - no pressure on your DS, lol. I've promised my DN that she gets to go to Maui as a graduation present from high school. One week for graduating, two weeks if she graduates with honors --I'm such a mean uncle setting such high expectations according to her! Her sister did it, so no reason she can't!

LOL! I'm positive I will be in the same boat with the little one and having to stop in the stores before we actually make it to the bus/monorail! Very excited. He really wants the POLY, but I want the Grand. Torn on if we stay put or if we move to the Poly at the 7 month mark if its available.

The Poly will still have significant construction ongoing then.....stick with the Grand!

Oh my gosh - it sounds like everyone has a trip coming up soon!! Blue and Tom - congrats on the single digit countdown!!!

Does anyone remember reading something about Disney testing out free taxi transfers for CL guests to certain signature restaurants? I tried searching the Dis but can't find where I read that...anyone at GF SL or RPC get this as an option?

I was there earlier in the month and wasn't told about that option. But I also didn't have any signature dining meals scheduled. If you are in CL email IPO to ask them.

Another restaurant question for my GF experts! From a menu perspective, are Narcoossee's and Flying Fish Cafe too similar? I want to make sure we have a lot of diversity in our meals and I now have a dinner opening one night and I was thinking of giving Flying Fish a try. It gets great reviews but when I look at the menu it seems pretty similar to Narcoossee's...thoughts?

I don't find them similar other then the fact they're both seafood. Enjoyed meals at both places. Narcoossees has the view of the castle and Wishes with music piped in if you time it right.

Thanks Sue! So you would do both in the same trip and feel like you had enough variety in your meals??

loveshak22 -- we really liked the dinners we have had at Flying Fish. Just wanted to let you know that they are closing it for several months for renovations (not sure what your dates are and if it will be open when you are there). If it is open, I think it's definitely worth a visit.

We're there in November and I did see it's closing for 'reimagineering' in January so we should be good.

So far it looks like two thumbs up for Flying Fish! Thanks mmmears!

As a side note, I did email IPO about the free taxi ride from a monorail hotel to Jiko, Artist Point, and FF. Looks like after the testing phase in the summer it wasn't continued. At least not at the current time.

Hey guys...I haven't been on in a few weeks so trying to catch up on the thread. I was wondering if anyone had any photos of the remodeled one bedroom suites. I learned from here that they were being done and that is what I have booked for our trip next year. Just curious to see how it is and if I want to keep. We are reserved for the main building club level. Thanks for the help!!!!

uber is what I would recommend then! It is half the price of a taxi and they are usually so clean. I can send you a code too for a free ride if you want too! :) have a blast!

Lisann, so sorry you have to cancel your Dec. visit. :sad2: I like to go with my sister too, and besides saving some money, it's such great fun to go and share Mickey with someone as Disney-crazy as I am!
