It's actually a package with free dining
5/31-6/7 and 8/26-10/1
Wow...I've never seen a FD BB before?? Honestly, that's scary because FD isn't as good a deal as a good discount at GF or other deluxe resorts...scary because it further supports the idea that Disney is slowly phasing out discounts:(
Congrats on booking your next vacation, however! It always makes leaving GF easier when you know you are going back:)

That was the only option I saw in the book in the room. We went and upgraded the package to deluxe. We're weird we prefer the deluxe over regular.

I just remembered a few cons: lighting in the shower area was so/so. Also the safe didn't fit my 15 inch computer. Also kind of missed the dimmer lights the contemporary has.

We are going to experience our very first stay at GF tomorrow!! Tomorrow cannot get here quick enough
Would you please check if you have a chance if there are 1/2 gallons of organic milk for sale in the store. I'm coming in a week and need to determine if I Should pack ind ones or not... :)

Well, I did it. I read (or at least glanced at) all 193 pages of this thread before posting. I'm SOOOOO very excited to say that we will be staying at the GF for our next family vacation in only 347 days! Can't wait to try this beautiful resort! I'd never considered the GF, but after a somewhat disappointing Yacht Club stay a few weeks ago, I'm excited to try somewhere new. Thanks for all the great info!

Our first visit to GF was in August and we loved it! A beautiful resort, pools are great, wonderful lobby to listen to music and people watch. This thread was so helpful Happy planning. :cheer2:

Girls wanted Nemo!!!

I think I better book my GVTR before I forget! Girls will love visiting The Grand :)

Well, Trisha, hopefully we will both "find Nemo!" I bet it will be a wonderful experience for both of us! We watched that video you linked (both in Maryland and multiple locations in CT at the same time via conference call) the girls were loving the room and the mystery appearances of "there's the mom, again" - Apparently I get the table bed. "It is closest to the door and you are a big man, so people won't get past you to get to us."

Hi everyone! I haven't checked on here since Aug 22 (I'm on page 172!)...Can someone tell me if there are any updates or closures upcoming for GF? We check in 12/5...I am making my way through the posts.

The GOOD news is, I started my own business so the GF most likely will be an annual thing instead of "Oh my how are we going to do this?"...We moved over from WL. Maybe next year we will be able to do SL :) Not sure I can bring myself to spend the money on the Main building lol.

Hey veterans, can I get some help with a room? I have a deluxe garden view booked, and there aren't very many rooms in that category. Most pixie dust comes from an upgraded view, but that can't happen here because all deluxe rooms are garden. And to me each building has their pros and cons so I don't really care where I end up. Do I even bother with a special request on my reservation? I'm really okay with the room I booked, and in any building. What's the worst that can happen to me?

Some rooms have a balcony and others do not. If you want one, request one. Otherwise I think any pool view you get will be wonderful.

I'm still here for another few days but have downtime if there are any questions that I can maybe answer.

Thanks so much for taking the time to check in and answer questions too!! Very GRAND of you! :goodvibes

I know exactly how you feel! GF will always be my favorite, but I am starting to like trying out other resorts too! For many years, we stayed nowhere else, but then we realized that other resorts have nice features too (like SAB at BC!) so we've started stepping out of our comfort zone for the past couple of years...which actually has allowed us to afford more trips per year:)

BTW, I think AOA looks really fun... Plus I like the price of their suites!

You know we are GF fans tried and true...but am surprised at how much we have enjoyed our stays some of the other WDW resorts too...:thumbsup2..But of course...we always look forward to our GF trip the most! :lovestruc

About 37 hours until we arrive! Can't wait!

Woohoo!!! :flower:

So true! We just returned from a great stay at Poly, enjoyed it very much. But, next year it's back to GF, lol. Must replenish my chocolate stash :-)

Welcome back Sue ...:goodvibes We missed you around here! Glad that you enjoyed your Poly stay....and that you will be back at the GF next year...yep gotta keep that chocolate stash going! :mickeybar

Thanks! I don't have any experience with BB offers, do they usually release a RO offer at a later date? Or if they do a RO offer do they release it with the FD?

Typically the the offer that comes out each summer is for FD the following fall...room only offer is usually available about mid October for the following year....My fingers are crossed that it will be available for our fall trip...I have no interest in FD...but would love to book a RO BB for 2016! Disney planning..Disney logic..you all get it! :rolleyes1

Bet that you are having a grand time already! :cloud9:

Don't fret my friend...the summer early fall BB is generally for FD the next fall...as I posted above...Be sure to check your welcome folder...hoping the trend will continue that the RO BB for the following year will be available by then...If not it def will be available when you go to the world in December....

I would suggest same as Trish...balcony and pool view...:thumbsup2..that whole courtyard area is so lovely....Not sure if Sago has any deluxe rooms..if so you could request a marina view..?? Maybe someone will come along that know the answer to that...there are a few Sago fans here....

image.jpg Just got back from a week at the Grand for the first time. It was amazing!!! It's so beautiful and the room was just gorgeous and spacious. We were in 8123 of Boca Chica and we were able to see wishes (with a tree blocking) but still awesome. The room was always either freezing or hot. I just couldn't get the handle of the settings haha. We only ate at the pools and gasperillas but I enjoyed the food. I'd rather more options but the steak ceaser salad at gasperillas was amazing!! Both pools were awesome and that slide was pretty neat. It seemed more crowded than usual for us but still pretty slow. FP+ for me is a love/hate thing. It makes rides that were once walk on a long wait but the app for me worked flawlessly with changing rides and times. The monorail worked for us most times except for one morning it was down but the bus came quick. I prefer a bus to Epcot and didn't have that option a couple of times that was disappointing but overall the hotel is gorgeous and awesome and everything I dreamed. I hope I get to go back :)

We really liked our stay at AofA (Nemo) - perfect for 5 of us. Love the 2 bathrooms. Our DG had the table bed and thought it was very comfortable. Enjoy your stay.

Aw, you are making me blush! Thanks Blue -- we are going the MNSSHP on the 29th, can't wait to see the headless horseman ride up main street. The last time we were there, he fell off his horse the previous parade (we were at dinner for the early one) so we missed that thrill!

Tom

We got back from VGF on Saturday. It was the most amazing trip ever and I am so in love with the GF! I was so worried that after wanting to stay there for 20 years that it wouldn't live up to my expectations, but it definitely surpassed them! I cannot wait to go back and I can't imagine staying anywhere else ever again. Now I might be able to answer some questions on this board :)
So glad you enjoyed it @Ismo
