We are just back from our first stay at BCV! I was not expecting to love it as much as we did, but our location was perfectly situated for getting everywhere except the pool with a view of Illuminations to boot. Sadly we only got to swim in SAB once because of the cold but at least the weather made the parks seem very quiet. Overall, it was a wonderful time and reinforced that we are happiest somewhere, anywhere, within the BC & YC resort complex.

It was nice to meet you briefly, Teena, in our drowned rat state! Thanks for showing us the towels! :)

Would you mind to share what type of villa you were in and where it was located? Was the room in good shape? Did you make any special requests?

We were in a studio. Room 327, to be exact which was just two doors from elevator but the way the villas are arranged it was not noisy at all. My requests were higher floor, woods view, and we received exactly that. Room was admittedly worn...bathtub was chipping, wall corners had chipped paint, carpet had deep wear in main walking paths and our safe was broken. And, in the words of my 7-year-old: Mommy, I like the room but that is the UGLIEST couch I have ever seen! BUT the public areas of the Villas were beautifully and impeccably maintained. I would stay again as is, since I rented points and paid much less than a standard room at the BC resort but the refurb, I am sure, will make the place gorgeous and I look forward to it.

Thanks for all the good thoughts everyone. It has finally stopped snowing & streets are getting cleared. Now we have threat of flooding coz temp is supposed to be near 60 by Monday with a few inches of rain predicted.

The carousel was my fave of all the big gingerbreads on my last December visit. Do they make it at the hotel or mold it at another location and assemble it in the lobby? It is torment at my job when 20 pizzas arrive and I am hungry and smelling then, I am picturing CMs standing there smelling chocolate as they melt it in place.

They make it in our bakery department ... it's behind the kitchen behind Cape May. Then they bring it all out in pieces (gingerbread) and assemble it in the lobby. Takes about 10 hours to assemble. It's so much fun to watch!! I've been told they start baking and working on the horses in the summer.

Katesdad and MickeyT, thanks for your reply. It took me so long to decide on BC, but it was a toss up between BC and YC. I'm going to look into YC again this weekend. I think both cost the same so at least I don't have to figure out money :)

Couchy & focusondisney stay safe! Been watching your weather on CNN here, :faint: crazy weather and now rain coming and the melt, yikes. :sad2:

I'm up in the middle of the night, husband got up at 3AM and as he was running out the door called to me to phone 911 :confused3 now I'm running after him asking what to say and why am I phoning. Apparently there was a 20is yr old crack head going thru the back yards and garages that are open in the neighbourhood. Ugh. Husband went out to chase him off our property. Well, I'm up now. 5 police cars showed up and are going thru neighbour trying to find him. Yup, no sleep for me now :rolleyes2

Let us know what you decide. I'm a YC guy as I like the looks and the feel of this side of the resort, but you can't go wrong staying at either place.

Could someone share or PM me the YC manager's email address. Regina on CL really made our stay special and I've been remiss about recognizing her.
See page one of this thread. The address for the GM is posted there. Manager for YC is the same as manager for the BC. It's all one big resort.

Hope all of you are safe. I appreciate the fact that your DH took the initiative to try to keep your property and others safe. Not enough people do that these days.

Yikes! That doesn't sound like fun.

Fortunately we all have the DisBoards to turn to when we aren't able to sleep.

My DD (17) and I will be staying at the YC March 13th-15th. This will be a recovery portion of our trip.;) I am one of the chaperones for her high school band trip. I picked the YC hoping it will be peaceful after the other portion of the trip. My DD and I are flying in on March 5th and staying at the Poly while the rest of the band takes a charter bus from Texas to MK. We will meet them at MK March 6th and then stay at an offsite hotel that the band director is keeping a secret. I am truly frightened to see where we are staying. I am just trying to ignore that part of the trip and dreaming of the YC.:cloud9:

Don't blame you ... that "secret" would drive me absolutely bonkers.

The longer he goes with out telling us the scarier I imagine the hotel. I was just going to book the first night at the hotel but he is refusing to tell anyone where we are staying. I finally just booked a night at the Poly because it is close to the TTC. I am assuming they will get dropped off at the TCT and I can put my luggage on the charter bus when it arrives.

Thanks. I doubt the kid will be back here. 5 police cruisers were out looking for him. Perhaps he'll go elsewhere. Husband thinks he was on drugs. Ugh.

Yikes! That doesn't sound like fun.

Yup! I finally got back to sleep around 5:00  did my FP+ today for January trip. And online check in for ️POR.

Yikes! I can only imagine. My kids have gotten totally spoiled staying at Disney. We're staying in. Hyatt Place near NYC so we can visit friends in the city today. It's a nice place and my oldest thinks they're the only acceptable alternative to Disney. We stayed at a Candlewood Suites a few years back and it was really horrible. AC didn't work at first (this was in mid-July), the room smelled horrible - like BO and cigarettes. They moved us to a better room, but the damage was done at that point. Whenever Thing 1 is being particularly tweenish, I threaten to book a room at the Candlewood and make her stay there, doing nothing, for 24 hours.

First off, sending warm hugs, positive thoughts and admiration to our friends in Western New York! Hoping that now that Elsa has left the area, issues and damages will be kept to a minimum.

After receiving a pin for 35% off room rates for spring of 2015, I was able to talk my husband into moving our April 2016 trip to May 2015! We plan on surprising our girls with the trip on Christmas. May 16-21 garden view at the Yacht Club. I have always wanted to stay at a boardwalk resort and am so excited to be having another Disney adventure.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Let us know if you have any questions and please post back here after the Christmas surprise!

:santa:

This has probably been answered, but will the resort do something special for Christmas and/or New Year's?

BUMP!

Yes- but I have never been, so I don't know what the special activities are. There is usually a separate activities list with holiday activities but I can't find one from previous years. Does anyone have this from past December trips???

I want to say that Santa is in the lobby of either the BC or YC (maybe both) on Christmas Eve- can someone confirm?

What else?

:santa:

Hello. Long time reader of the forum, but I just signed up so that I could post. Greeting from the Bay Area in California!! :)

I'm an annual pass holder for Disneyland (I go a few times a year) but this January (end of Jan into first week of Feb) will be my first time going to the FL parks. And let me tell you, I'm soooo excited!! I booked an 8 night stay at BC but I'm still far enough out of my reservation that I can rebook somewhere else and cancel BC without losing any money.

I guess my question is... Should I keep my reservation, or switch it out for another hotel that is not undergoing construction? With the money I'm spending for the stay, I would be very upset if I was disturbed because of noise, etc.

This is a solo trip (ya, all of my friends think I'm crazy) so I want to stay somewhere I can walk to and the Epcot area hotels really appeal to me because I can walk there and to DHS.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be wonderful!!

Thanks!

:welcome: to this forum and posting on the DIS!!!

A solo trip to the World sounds wonderful!

As others have said, check out whether a stay at the YC would suit you.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list and you can confirm the dates and resort when you get a chance.

:woohoo:

PS- my family visited DL for the first time in July- we had a great 4 night trip on our way to Hawaii.

Just booked for 8 nights in March of 15!! Is it time to get excited yet???

:welcome:

Totally time to get excited!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Does anyone know if the BC marketplace has a microwave for guest use. I usually stay DVC so we are in a regular guest room.

Yes it does. We used it to heat up my sons milk bottles before bed.

Yes, as Gillespie says there is a microwave in the Marketplace. There is a limited supply of microwaves available for use in guest rooms as well. You can request at checkin or from housekeeping when you arrive to see if any are available.

:thumbsup2

Wow! That is super scary! :scared1:

I am so glad you are ok and I can see how that would be disruptive to your sleep.

Love your recovery plan and I sympathize! I will be chaperoning my second 8th grade class trip (130 13 and 14 year olds) to Disney in June. We stay on site at one of the AllStars- I can't imagine not knowing where you are booked! I was going crazy last time not knowing our flight info or what parks we had classes in until May, but this time around I am helping to plan the trip.

Here is the info from the "Other Useful Info Post" (Post 14, Page 1 of this thread)

After you have returned home from your stay:

email wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

or send a letter to:
Walt Disney World Guest Communications
Executive Offices
Post Office Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-0040

When you write or email, please include your name, address, phone number and email address.

If it is a comment specific to the Yacht & Beach Club, you can write to the General Manager of the resort (perhaps copy Guest Communications as well):

Mim Flynn, General Manager
Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
1800 EPCOT Resort Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Another excellent way to be heard is through exit surveys. Surveys are sent to every guest by mail or by email after a stay.

The surveys are reviewed at the actual resort as well as WDW with a fine tooth comb!!! It's the perfect way to get your comments (good or bad) about the resort and/or cast members and/or experiences during your vacation.

If you were given incorrect information from the Central Reservations Booking Office, or if you miss resort-specific merchandise in the gift shops or if you want to recognize a CM who went out of their way to make your trip magical, this is a very effective way for the powers to be to see your message!
