I am sure that this has been covered a million times, but is the same type of refurb being done at BCV that is currently being done at BC? If so, what kind of refurb is it - I think there are two different kinds, hard goods refurb and soft goods refurb? YC is completely finished, right? I ask because currently we are booked in a studio at BCV for the middle of September and received a letter stating the resort would be under renovation. I am slightly concerned about the noise as we are late sleepers (no kids, just us two!) and/or mid-day nappers. I am thinking about switching to a monorail resort or to Club Level at YC. Any thoughts from anyone?

Marketplace: do they have oatmeal or boiled eggs for breakfast?

The have oatmeal on the menu but not hardboiled eggs, not sure if they have some hardboiled eggs in the take and go section. Are you staying CL? If so they have both the eggs and oatmeal.

I draw the line at Bippity-Boppity-Boutique, though. Those tight buns look painful.

It helps if you can manage to convince the children they are going to go bald and look like Mr. Clean. Some kids have experienced fall out spots because of the tightness of some of those hair do's. I'm not just talking about getting those hair do's at Bippity Boppity either. There was an "incident" when we were planning out our hair do's for the Stormalong Bay Synchronized Pool tube team in 2014. Common sense took over and we decided to go with the flower petal bathing caps.

Check out the very first post on the first page of this thread.

The Cliffs Notes version:

BC is currently undergoing renovation. Floor 5 (club level) and Floor 4 are done, 3 is being worked on now, maybe half-way done, not sure.

BCV will start when the BC rooms are about 3/4 done. Slightly different, but similar type of renovation- rooms only and possibly hallways as far as I know. If work starts soon (like maybe June), I expect it will still be happening in September.

YC work has not started. It will commence once the BC rooms are completed. We anticipate a start on the YC in the fall, but we don't know that for sure.

Hope that helps!

As there are no Apps at Beaches and Cream, does anyone know if you can get a side item as a replacement on the Deluxe Dining Plan?

We'll be staying BCV, studio in mid June, it may be too late for you to decide to switch to Club Level at YC for a report.

I know in the past we have stayed while they have refurbished the rooms, we were not inconvenienced. They take rooms out of inventory that they refurbish, and they work during the day, I understand what you mean about noise, I mean, 7am for noise here in our town seems early on days I want to sleep in and the lawn services begin arriving at the neighbors!

The refurbishment of the Polynesian has gotten a lot of notice because it is a BIG deal, and it is a LOT of noise, I don't get the impression that the Villas will be getting that kind of refurbishment - but, if you want to switch to YC Club level, you probably can be enabled by reading the Club Level thread!

 Hi Everyone!!!

Remember me???

Been busy with work, volunteer stuff at the middle school, my dad (going well, but lots to do at his house and getting him to appointments) and DISNEY planning. I spend most of Mother's Day booking fast passes for our group and then reviewing the work to make sure everyone was all set- found a few mistakes with the groups. Then booked more FP Monday and Tuesday morning. Today I made the listing of the passes for the 13 groups. I have been working on information about Park Hours, Show Times, Counter Service restaurants and more. Fun, but time consuming!

I also have had meetings or other events every night for the past few weeks.

I don't think I have gotten this behind on the thread unless I've been on vacation! I will gradually try to work my way out of a deep hole.

Thank you so much to everyone for keeping up with answering questions.

We are going back to BCV studio 12/11-19...only stayed in 1 Bdrm so excited to have new room type and hopefully new refurbished room too! Hoping also that construction is over by then but, too soon to know for sure. We did not fall in love with BCV last stay Nov 2015. It was just feeling worn out, very little quick service options, plus weather was too chilly to really use the pool much. We were spoiled the previous year at VWL, 80 degrees, and that ambiance of holiday time at WL. Crossing fingers for a better time around at BCV in December....

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

Just got back from a stay at the Beach Club. Got one of the updated rooms (and a pleasant surprise of an upgrade to the club level). The updates are very nicely done. I'm actually glad to see that the Swan and Dolphin are getting an update too, but the Beach Club's was much longer overdue. Looked like the current construction was on the 3rd floor (we could see into a couple rooms in progress from the balcony), so they're making good progress. No comment on construction noise; we were never there during those hours.

Not sure if you posted before your trip, so here is a :welcome: just in case.

Thanks so much for your review.

:thumbsup2

I am currently at the BC and very surprised to see/hear construction work today, Sunday. Sitting on a balcony, overlooking the courtyard, I can see/hear a worker apparently manually scaping old mastic from the floor. He had the balcony door open -probably for fresh air and ventilation. It looks like he just left, a few minutes ago.

Still working on third floor.

Thanks for this info!

::yes::

Thanks! Its always nice to "meet" another potter-phile :thumbsup2 BTW I love your trip reports!

Gennie

I appreciate the kind words! I hope to get back to posting some new chapters on my current reports soon.

I kind of mentioned in another post that we are putting our Universal APs to the test with a quick trip in August before my solo visit to Disney for the BC/YC meet.

:wizard:

Dee,
I hope everything went well with your Dad. DH's parents are getting to that point as well. Tough on everyone.
Mary

Thank you! Still lots of decisions to make!

We just got back from our 1 night stay at the YC Club level. We were last there In September and noticed some increases in the breakfast offerings, with cold meats, make your own yogurt/granola/strawberries combinations.

The cm's were all very friendly, we checked in late and the club level addition was a surprise for my parents and sister. My parents were given an upgrade to the commodore suite which is a beautiful room, we were able to watch illuminations from the three(!!!) balconies that room has which was a perfect end to the night after a very long 12 hour flight (due to technical issues, plane had to turn around and be fixed, before we were back on our way).

It was my sisters first visit to Disney and a fab introduction to it, she was amazed by how friendly all the cm's were.

Congrats on the upgrade!!!

Thanks for reporting about your trips.

Good Morning!

Got back last night. I got to meet and chat with Teena yesterday..boy, we have a lot of common opinions on parents and kids! hahaha

We had room 5708 that faced the bus area, although we couldn't see the buses for the trees, it was a fantastic room and very quiet. It was a walk from the lobby and ice machine, but I think I will take that over the constant noise around the lounge area.

Rooms are gorgeous and I found that weird bedside table perfect for various phones, ipads and glasses.

I even had a fantastic Mousekeeper (are they still called that) who offered the plush robes and VIP shampoo for us. Came back to our room and they were waiting for us with chocolates and even slippers. I wish I had seen her, she would have gotten a fantastic tip!!

We appreciate the feedback about the construction. Glad you got to meet Teena!

The last I heard on BCV was that construction was to start the middle of this month and complete a couple of weeks before Christmas. But, of course, we all know how plans can sometimes go awry, so, we probably will have to depend on first-hand progress reports.

Has anyone had luck grabbing a Beaches and Cream cancellation? I can't find any availability for our trip.

Now you know what it's like to be a TA! ;) HA HA :D

When we ate there a few years ago and were on the deluxe dining plan, they actually had (surprisingly really good) chicken noodle soup that we had as the appetizer. Not sure if they still have it or not. They may only have tomato soup now.

Dee & Erika: don't know how you do it!!! Planning trips used to be easy-----then FP+....... I can't imagine how time consuming that must be!!!

How many of you use a car service that comes with a grocery stop? We usually order from Garden Grocer, but I was thinking maybe this time we could get some breakfast items, water etc. (read Good Wine) rather than ordering what is avail online. BUT, I'm a routine type person so just thinking about not taking the ME bus makes me sweat.......Any tips?

Thanks so much - sorry I missed that!

When I mentioned DH and I sleep late, I mean we can sleep as late as 10:00/10:30 and not roll out of the room until 11:00/11:30 which is well into the construction time sent on the letter they sent me. So if anyone is around at BC in the next couple of months around that time of day and could report back on noise that would be great!!!!
