We are staying the BC March 5 to 8. We have 2 adults and 3 children (11,11 and 9) and wanted to know two things:

1) Is CL worth the extra $100 per night?
2) Will the renovations to the Lazy River be done? I was told they are to be completed by March 3, however, wasn't sure if anyone has first hand knowledge.

Thank you for your help!

Eric

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

Sounds like with a family of 5, the convenience of breakfast every day and snacks when you are around will be worth it. The convenience of having access to the lounge is great!!!

According to everything I have heard so far, the work is on schedule. Someone called last week and spoke to a manager at the Y&B Marina and was told they thought the work would be done in time, but the work is being done by outside contractors, so they didn't know for sure.

:)

That's what I was told after we made our booking too, I'll be there on March 3 and I'll try to pop in this thread and post an update on the lazy river if nobody has beat me to it yet but no promises as I'm flying in from CA on a red eye!

:welcome: and thanks for offering to let us know when you arrive!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for March.

:woohoo:

Thanks for the welcome and the Captain's Grille info. I'm just like this member- read a lot, don't post so much;) You did welcome me last year when we stayed at BC for the first time. Thanks to all the wonderful info on here we had an amazing trip. One of the pieces of advice we took was breakfast at Captains Grille. We really enjoyed it and figured it would be a nice meal for DM and 2 DDs while my husband and I are at Yachtsman. The podcast really scared my DM and me:scared1: Thanks for the response. I know I can always get great friendly advice here! We are staying at YC this Aug 15-23 GV so if you could add us to the BOG list that would be great! So excited to be going back:woohoo:

Will do!

Hey everyone. New here. I am planning a special trip for end of October/beginning November this year. My husband passed away last month after a year battle with cancer and my 12 year old and I need to do something fun. He will turn 13 in October so figured we would go celebrate it and Halloween at Disney. Also taking my Mom and his best friend. My son has only been to Hollywood Studios, my Mom has never been at all and none of us have ever stayed at a Disney Resort. After much thinking and time on internet I am ready to book Beach Club for our stay. However wondering if paying more for the water view is worth it? Are they rooms better located? TIA.

:welcome: to this forum.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband, and my thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

:grouphug:

I am hoping that the trip with be a healing one and enjoyable for all of you. The Beach Club is a great resort because it is so easy to get to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

Someone else just asked about the value of water views and my comments are in the response to that question.

Check out this thread of Beach Club Views to see some samples of views from rooms in the different categories.

Beach Club Room Views

:cool2:

Pray for us everyone!

We just booked our next Disney adventure, August 16-22 at VWL. However, I REALLY would love to come back to my home BCV fo that week, so there is waitlist with my name on it. Anyone that's going that week and has a 2 BR, help a brother out, will ya?! lol

Fingers crossed for you that you are able to make it back "home"

Yes,YC is 2 options
Beach Club is also two options.

Once I completed online checkin, there is a link where I can modify options. It will not let me delete the ones I made, but I can add more. I just added upper floor to see if it would let me have three and it does. So now I have three requests, upper floor, balcony, near elevator. Not that it matters, my room requests never get honored, lol.
I'm also checking in March 3rd, I'll post an update on the pool if I see no one has done it yet.

That is good to know! Thanks.

I assume they still have the language that goes something like "Let us know if you want us to disregard your requests if it means having a room ready when you are checking in"

MickeyT-

After one of your recent trips, I think you posted a picture of the Beaches & Cream take out menu. I have looked for that post and picture and can't find it... Can you repost?

Thanks!

I've tried figuring out when renovations are scheduled, but apart from every not knowing exactly, and that YC and BC are both in this thread....I'm confused.

I'm thinking of staying at YC August 17-23. Are renovations done at YC or what are the chances of renovations during my dates : at the YC, pool, or dining location at the combined YC/BC?

Dee, I don't know if this is the current menu:
(Sorry it's so BIG! I didn't know how to reduce in size (I guess like the calorie counts of the selections:) )

Let us know if you book a stay at the YC and I will add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

All of the information we have about the renovations is in the very first post on this thread, covering the current work on the Beach Club rooms and the upcoming rehabs of the BCV and Yacht Club.

We believe that the work on the Beach Club rooms will be finished sometime in the summer if the work remains on schedule. The work on the Yacht Club rooms will start AFTER the BC renovation is complete. So the YC rooms will NOT be finished (and may or may not even be started) by the time of your trip. Chances of a renovation on the pool in August is VERY LOW- I think the only reason there would be work at the pool in the summertime would be if a problem was found and an emergency repair is needed. We have no knowledge that refurbs of the pool or dining locations are part of the current renovation project.

:thumbsup2

Sheri - my deepest sympathies to you and your son. I am sure that all on this thread hope that your upcoming trip will be fun and magical.

If I may suggest two things? I highly recommend reading the first page of this thread. Dee (Natebenma) does an incredible job maintaining this thread and Page 1 is a great place to start. It's a combination of FAQ, photos, secret tidbits, and latest refurbishment updates.

Second, since you are going in October, I would recommend attending Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. The dates for 2015 were just announced this week and tickets go on sale in April. MK stays open late and practically everyone dresses up in costumes (both park goers and Disney characters). There is a special parade (with Disney villians), fireworks, trick-or-treating, special photography shots (the hitchhiking ghosts near the Haunted Mansion), and character meet and greets that are not usually available (Jack & Sally and the Seven Dwarfs).

Although I am still waiting to take my first trip to BC this Fall, I have been lurking on this thread for almost a year. This group is friendly, funny, helpful, and honest. You shouldn't hesitate to post a question or ask for an opinion if you need it.

Take care!

We arrive May 7th for a quick weekend trip!!! DW and DD's were not happy that we had to move our annual "long" trip from May to August for school reasons, they all LOVE Flower & Garden. SOOOO, I surprised them with this trip! Yeah me!!

Check in to Yacht Club May 7th, Check out May 10th!

First time posting here! We are arriving at the BC tomorrow and staying though 07 March. I've been lurking here for a few weeks in preparation for our trip, just wanted to say thanks for all the amazing info!
Enjoy yourself!!!

You can add me to the BOG list for 3/21-25. I have been lying to my family, I told them we are staying at All-Star Music, so when I drive up to the Beach Club they will be surprised. I'm not sure how much my mom and kids know about Beach Club, so they might not realize at first of how much an upgrade it is.:flower:I am trying my best to keep my secret for 3 more weeks.

I always admire people who can keep surprises like that! I just about explode the minute I book the trip! Have a great trip. You check out 3 days before we check in!

Hi everyone!! Just popping in to say hi!!! Unfortunately, my hubby couldn't get the time off in May :( So we rebooked for November. Our dates weren't available at YC, and BC was almost booked up..I can only imagine it's because of F&W :(...SO we are now staying at GF. However, our girls were excited, but sad (they remember you Teena!) about not going to BC...so hubby and I decided to surprise them. We booked BC CLUB LEVEL (CAN YOU FEEL MY EXCITEMENT?!?!?!) for the two nights after our trip "ends". They think we are heading home, but instead we go to BC! We will joing you (albeit briefly) from November 19-21 :) It's strictly resort, just to hang out at SAB, the boardwalk, roast smores, watch a movie, etc..and we couldn't be happier! Then we are back in Feb or May the following year (fingers crossed!!!)

Hi, everyone,

New to this thread. We are going November 5-9 and staying at BC in a garden view room. Just my husband and me as we are running the Wine and Dine half-marathon. We've never stayed on-site other than at Shades of Green and then off-site, so I'm looking forward to experiencing a Disney resort. We have run 3 of the Disney marathons and I always love the portion of the run on the boardwalk area, so I'm really excited at the prospect of staying there and walking distance to two of the parks will be great!

Thank you for this thread. The first page with all the detailed information is fantastic and just what my OCD planning tendencies love. :)

Can you please take us off the Be Our Guest list? This is to be a celebration for you younger daughter's graduation and she wants the Polynesian, so Poly it is :)
