*2013* epcot food & wine festival 9/27-11/11

Hey gang! In my planning I was realizing that the special events listing is great if you live in Orlando and you find an event that interests you, then you know when to go. For the rest of us, we often need to use the opposite approach and we know when we are going and need to know what is going on at that time. I didn't see any calendar out there (and my apologies if there is one and I didn't see it), so I created one. Hopefully you should be able to access it at https://www.google.com/calendar/emb...roup.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/New_York

PM me if you see any errors. I have not added the deminars. Would that be useful?

This is awesome! I was just saying to DH yesterday that it's odd that Disney doesn't make a calendar available like this!! :thumbsup2

Actually, I've never felt the need or the desire to go to a seminar - this year we will catch a couple though.

I'm not thrilled with the culinary demos. There are mostly seafood & shellfish demos during our week there.pirate:

I am kind of interested in the Signature Dining at Le Cellier. I'm assuming it will be beef but with my luck it's more seafood. :(

Question. Can someone give me an example of what I might expect to see prepared at a culinary demo that is listed as "savory" as opposed to chicken, pork, beef, etc.?

Thanks!

For the first time since I've been going to the festival I am not interested in booking a single seminar.

Me either & I was excited because I'm getting a bonus 2nd trip end of Oct. when I'll be at Disney for a conference. Thanks for saving me money Disney! The only thing I'm considering booking is the Grand Marnier tasting event & even that I'm not sure is worth $65.00.

I'm excited for what I have planned. Not a ton of celebrities but a nice variety while I'm there.

I am guessing that is the same as a "TBD"....(i.e. they aren't sure yet!) By saying savory the only thing you know for sure is that it will not be a "sweet"(pastry or dessert). :goodvibes

Truth be told, we have been attending F&W for many years - back to when it was at the convention center where Saratoga springs is now!!!!. In at least 11 years I have been up with my finger on dial of cel and landline to book at 7 or 8 AM signature dinners. We have to travel nearly 2000 miles so obviously we want ressies, yet in all that time we have only been able to book one (1) Signature Dinner. I truly wonder how people are able to get in ahead of me with the 'alarm' clock efforts i make and STILL can't get thru in time. I have resolved to say the heck with it this year. This year i will make ONE attempt for a seminar and that is it! if i don't get it - c'est la vie - and I will forget F&W this year. Very frustrating.

ppiew, maybe you could try Concierge one year? Then you could make sure the CL CM's have your list of preferences to book for you ahead of time. I'll bet that would work and be no stress for you!;)

Concierge? A great idea but when i tried that a few years ago (we were at the GF Concierge) I was told they don't book the special events for you, so that is down the drain.

Called at 7 to make my culinary demo reservations. Was told to call back at 8 a.m.

Tried at 7AM today they said they will only be booking the Deminars. Signature Dining, Kitchen Memories etc won't be available for booking until the 13th.

That is correct. I did find the 8 am time listed on the disney food blog:

Booking opens for Tables in Wonderland members, Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club members, and Golden Oak residents on August 9, 2013 at 8AM for seminars and demonstrations only.

Decided to check out Buddy Vlastro's Savory deminar on October 14th...
Man this was the easiest I have ever gotten through!

"Savory" just means it will not be a dessert. Unfortunately, for the demos with just that designation, there is no way to tell which protein will be used if any.

Thanks. I figured it was a placeholder for "to be determined". Still works for me!

Quick question about how the seminar/demonstration reservations show up in MDE-

I am seeing Festival Welcome Center, date, time, # of guests, pre-paid, reservation #, but it doesn't actually show the name of the presenter, is that right?
