2013 Beach and Yacht Club FAQ: Don't Post Here! New Thread Now Open

On an OT note, is anyone dealing with or in the path of this snowstorm? We were originally supposed to miss it but now in the 5-10 inch range. Kinda glad as the stomach flu hit my nine year old and she could use one more recoup day without me feeling guilty over her missing more school. 64 days until BC fun!

Quick random question: we're considering staying at YC in early June. Our plan is minimal park time, lots of time at the resort and pool. Is SAB just crazy-busy and crowded in June?

I was at the BC in June 2011, and while SAB was busy, as you would expect in HOT weather, you could still find a lounge chair if you looked around a bit. It helps that when it is hot & busy they seem to be a bit better about checking key cards to limit entry to only guests of Y&BC & BCV. I'm also of the opinion, that a towel alone, with no personal items to show there is actually a person in the pool, does NOT save a chair. So I "may" have moved some towels from say 4 chairs to 1. ;)

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards App, please excuse any typos or autocorrects!

DH gives me "that look" and says... Don't you dare take on another forum! :lmao:

Don't do it!!!

I've stayed at SSR once and OKW twice, I do prefer OKW, try not to get a first floor room as your view can be obscured by shrubs which make the room dark. :).

Thank you for the advice!!

However, if you check out Page 2 of this thread, you will see that our FAQ board has adopted our own form of identification. One of our board members created a pin speciically for members of the BC/YC/BCV board.

Nannette generous offered to handle the distribution of the pins, but I get the impression that people haven't requested them very often. Nan- how is the supply?.

As a side note, We stayed at OKW 2 years ago. We were near the hospitality house so it was very convenient. We really had a great time there. It is such a huge resort I could see one not having as good of a time if they were not close to the hospitality house. I look forward to hearing what you think.

Thanks for sharing! I'll let you know how it was when I return!!

Thanks all for answering my question re: how crowded the pool gets in June. Sounds doable. :thumbsup2

We're going in June too! Last year was our 6th trip to the Poly and June was horrible (other trips were in the fall). However I was not once asked to show my resort id. I'm looking forward to a resort that has a bigger main pool and a system in place so it is only used by YC/BC guests!!!!

Yep, we went to the Poly once during Spring Break and the pool was insane. Hoping to avoid that level of madness. Maybe we'll see you at SAB. ;)

I have one of the new dis yc/bc pins for our May trip. I was so excited to get it-nannette shipped quickly.

We have overlapping trips! I just requested my pin so I will be on the lookout.

We will be returning to the yacht club this upcoming oct. I have been reading alot of reports on tripadvisor that the condition of the rooms/hallways are runned down. Was just wondering if those of you who have been recently how the condition of the room has been for you. I am considering now switching to the wilderness lodge since the hotel went through a renovation but we have been spoiled with the location of the yacht/beach/boardwalk

When our family was at BC in July, I did not see anything run-down. The linens are new-ish, the carpets weren't stained and the wallpaper was not peeling. We walked through the lobby of YC and it looked to be in great shape too!

Everyone has differing opinions.....mine is that YC/BC is perfect in every way (just like me! Hahaha)!

We live in suburban Chicago and the kids and I have a snow day! They are predicting 10 inches of snow between today and tomorrow! So what am I doing? Planning and reading and daydreaming about our July trip....imagining myself at SAB with a Sunken Treasure in my hand watching the kids play volleyball in the water! I can smell the sunscreen, hear the laughter, feel the sand-bottom pool, taste the booze, see the beautiful surroundings. Ahhhhhhh..........who would like to join me in my fantasy vacation? :)

Me!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

We have about 2 inches down so far and no sign of slowing...

bowbat- I have never had an issue finding a chair at SAB in early June, no matter the time of day. But during the peak times, it might not be in the most desirable location. We like to set up camp near the water volleyball/games area and I can usually get at least 1 chair without issue (just maybe not in the front row).

Oh I feel so bad for you, not :) We are up here in Holland and ahhhhh, thankfully, we aren't getting anything this time around, no lake effect for us!!! Enjoy your snow day!! I've predicted that we will be getting no more snow!!! Even my neighbor who plows snow, took the plow off his truck ;) I like your thinking though, daydreaming while the snow is falling, happy daydreaming!!!

Another suburban Chicago family here. My kids are loving their first snow day of the year! Our 180 day mark was yesterday, and all our ADRs are done. Just booked the Illuminations fireworks cruise this morning, too! I can't wait for that pool! Count me in for a fantasy vacation right now! :)

We leave Thursday for our first stay at BC and we are doing CL.

I want to thank everyone here for all the information, tips and tricks you post. I can not wait to see it all for myself.

Just wanted to pop on and say a quick hi :wave2:

We got home on 2/24 from an AMAZING 8 day stay at BC CL. Had a truly fabulous time!!!

Don't let anyone tell you that Disney is just for little kids! My kids are 13, 16 and 18 (DS turned 18 while we were there) and this may have been our best trip yet! Such fun.

A few things we had never done before:
- Club level. It was awesome with teenagers.
- Mini-golf. All these times to WDW and we had never done it. We did Fantasia Gardens twice - both courses. It was so much fun! We just walked from the BC.
- Illuminations Cruise. This was to cap off my sons 18th bday. Very special!

Can't wait to go back ..... :goodvibes

Have fun!! We loved being CL. The lounge was great. :flower3:

Oh! I forgot to mention that for the few 4 days we were there Johnny Galecki (Leonard from Big Bang Theory) was staying right down the hall from us at BC CL!!!! Live with Kelly and Michael was filming at the MK and he was a guest one of the days. I saw him in the halls and the club a few times. :)

I have seen different answers on different sites, so I thought I would ask here: is it 499 days or 500 days out that you can book a room at Disney?
