We just upgraded from Coronado Springs to Beach Club! This thread is full of great info!

Just back from my trip. Over all it was a great trip and the Yacht Club was also great. My room was almost as far from the lobby as you could get. Since I had an ECV, it wasn't too bad. I loved the day bed in my room. Great for an afternoon relaxing reading session. I will say, the bed was firmer than I like. Ad the room was cold any time I had the ac going. Didn't matter where I set it. I do like a cool room when I sleep, so I didn't mind it at that point. I even had the second blanket on the bed.

I did eat breakfast at the Captains Grill four times. Citrus/lavender scented challah French toast, too dry, a little over cooked. Dark chocolate waffles with espresso marscapone, yummy but very rich. Eggs Benedict, not on the menu but they were happy to make it for me, perfect, and they used prosciutto instead of Canadian bacon. And the one I liked the best, lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote and lemon curd, so GOOD, light and yummy, didn't need syrup.

Had dinner at Yachtsman. Caesar salad was good, too much with two quarter pieces of a head of romaine. I got the ribeye, very tender. I was able to get bernaise sauce instead of the red wine. And the little brioche that comes with it was amazing. If you could only get their onion rolls and that brioche as a snack at the resort, I would be a happy camper.

That is a great assessment of breakfasts at Captains Grille and the pancakes do sound yummy. We have head lunches and dinners but I have not had lunch. My DH and kids did have the breakfast bar once but I was more in the mood for lunch and was able to get a sandwich as it was right at switch over. Also impressed they could make up the Eggs Benedict off the menu. I think we'll definitely plan a breakfast there this trip. Maybe check out day before spending time at SAB.

Glad you enjoyed the YC! This will be our 7th stay at BC but like to hear about the YC stays in case we ever end up there. And I'd we do sounds like a close to lobby request is a good idea.

Thanks for the report.

I'm home!! As promised a pic of the Magic Bands (YAY I figured out how to post this myself!!) that were displayed where I had to go to get the new tap and go annual pass. They said Magic Bands would be rolling out for annual pass holders before the end of the year... you will be able to pick the color you want and it will have your name on it. Exciting stuff can't wait!!

Ooooo, I want a pink one!!! But doesn't sound promising they will have them for August trip
Are they replacing kttw cards with magic bands now?

Cute towel animals! What was the 3rd one? Lol! I think our room was opposite yours, we were on same side of hall as the CL, last room before the Nantucket suite. I caught glimpses of it our last day, mouse keeping was getting it ready for an arrival.

Congrats

Any one that just got back from a trip remember what # the BC/YC are on the bus board coming back from MK & AK?

I know it's a silly question but we have a bet going here at home. Lol:lmao:

I want to win!

Sounds delicious Kim! We are going to have to try that when we are there this summer. I am happy to hear that people have some good things to say about Captain's Grille since the lest PodCast review was so bad. I know it has been a while and I was hoping it would get better before our trip.

Thanks for the reply. Am I correct then that it would be pointless to request a room at the YC close to the BC? The best room for proximity to the BC would be one that is close to the YC lobby, correct? Despite their lobbies not actually being connected, a YC guest must still go through the YC lobby to access the BC lobby.

Yes, you would want to be close to the lobby. As you can see from this picture, there is nothing but air between the Yacht Club rooms and the Beach Club rooms. There are restaurants, the arcade, the health club, etc, between the two resorts on the lower levels.

I don't remember AK, but MK is #8. AK MIGHT be #3.

I remembered what Kevin had said but breakfast sounded so good. Glad I tried it.

The coffee machine was the Nescafé espresso machine thing like they have in the Poly lounge. Nothing to write home about. They have good oatmeal at the BC lounge.

Isn't it good??? I had it each morning!!

I have lots of catching up to do, but I have been reading all posts.

This one stopped me in my tracks.

Are you serious??? The waffles sound amazing!

I think I just drooled on my keyboard a little bit!

Not yet Sue they are still testing them. I had to go to the area in between Test Track and Mexico (big building name is escaping me) with my paper ap to get the credit card type ap so I could use the ap at the tap and go entrance. Once inside the building they had all this archived stuff that they brought out and put on display very cool stuff.. then they had the display with the magic bands. They had me test my tap and go card and then told me that the bands would be released by the end of the year... I think August is pushing it, but who knows!! I'm hoping they'll be out for my late October early November trip!!

Back at work today... not liking it at all!! I decided while I was there not to book the bounceback for DH and my trip in September... I think we'll be fine at the Villa's! I did however eat way to much... I discovered the red velvet cupcakes at the Contemporary Cafe... Mmmm Mmmmm Mmmm!!! Anyway had a great time.. spent all day at Epcot taking pics of the flowers wasn't really overly crowded and I got some great shots and some not so great shots!! I met DD and DSIL in England for a drink and followed that drink up in France with a GGS. I met them on Saturday after their Keys tour and did some MK with them until their dinner at BOG. I hated the 8:20 pick up for the not so magical express Sunday morning, but I will be back in just 2 months at BCV!! :thumbsup2
