I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving ! I have so much to be thankfull for this year , all the great friends of the DIS boards especially the Yacht and Beach Club and of course Dee for all the hard work you do for all of us to make our travels much easier. I would also like to say a thanks to a special friend to all of us Teena . Have a wonderful day

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, including our Canadian neighbors, who had Thanksgiving earlier this year, but are probably still eating turkey leftovers from those GIANT Canadian turkeys they grow up there!

Remember, Canada... it's not just America's hat... they have giant turkeys too!

(Janetmom knows I'm talking about her Mayor ; ) )

:rotfl: aside from that low blow :rolleyes2 Happy Thanksgiving and why yes, I am still eatting leftovers :lmao: our Canadian Turkeys are soooo big they need landing lights!

Giant Turkeys indeed!

If we are Canadian or American, we will all give thanks for our Dis Friends today.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

We have big birds, here, too!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I was going to do a 6-day dance party....

But hold the phone.....

I'm having a bit of a freakout based on what I'm reading on the Theme Parks/Strategies board and I was wondering if any of my BC/YC friends could ease my mind...

So, we have tickets for MVMCP for next Friday night and our schedule is so tight, so that Friday is our MK day...period. No chance for change without upsetting ADRs and CP Packages etc. I come to find out that Friday is when they tape the ABC Christmas Parade and/or the music performance in front of the castle. So from what I've read and through talking with some friends of ours who are CMs...we've been told that "Yeah, so, that day....you're not going to be able to get anywhere near Main Street or the castle before 5 PM."

Great.:rolleyes2

Now I find out that not only is the big Christmas tree at the entrance to the MK not going to be up (gets in the way of angles for the parade taping), but they take down all the garland strung across Main Street (again...interferes with the taping).

Really great. :(

I mean...is it going to look like Christmas at all at the MK other than the castle?
I know many would kill for the opportunity to go at this time of year, and I'm probably just being a big baby, but I feel a bit like we're getting gypped. Because of my job, this opportunity never comes along, and attending a wedding in Orlando gave us the opportunity to do this, so this is our one shot, at least for the foreseeable future to see WDW during the holidays, and I'm pretty bummed out that the MK is going to be stripped of (what seems like) the majority of it's Christmas decorations to make way for a parade that is going to totally disrupt our day and possibly clog all the rides/events at night due to the huge crowds.

Am I overreacting? Or am I on track here and I picked a lousy weekend?

Generally speaking, it looks like Christmas threw up ALL OVER WDW so I think the only thing you will be blocked out from is Main St. and that Castle area DURING the DAY like they said. So, doing the math, you have all of MK except Main street/castle during the day and then you have that area at night during the Xmas party.

If it were me (and it's going to be!) I'd drown my sorrows on the Jungle JINGLE Cruise and just try to make the best of it. Whatever you do do not get roped into waiting the ENDLESS hours to get a glimpse of Lady Ga Ga's elbows or whoever is "staring" in the parade this year (?? whatever happened to Madonna, that's where I left off....).

The up side to this is that no reasonable human being would be caught dead at MK that day, except for Ga Ga's little monsters or the groupies who live for the day that the flag pole is removed from the MK so they can get that flag pole free shot down Main Street. So you are talking 2 desperate groups plus the clueless newbies who don't read the Dis boards and haven't caught on that there are more parks involved besides the Magic Kingdom. With these light crowds you can look forward to shorter lines for rides like the Astro Orbiter (now a 55 minute wait!) and Enchanted Tales, but no pictures, with Belle (down to 90 minutes!).

Get down off the ledge and get back in the building... you're going to be fine, you're at Disney for Pete's sake!

Big Thanksgiving ditto here......Y'all have made me chuckle more than once today.

I have stumbled in MK TWICE during taping. It's still beautiful and very, very festive. It just also happens to be really, really congested until you get away from Main Street and the castle. Don't sweat it - it will still be great!

(Though I am hoping to never stumble upon it again - super fun trying to navigate it with a double stroller. )

Opinions are like Bestest Aunts. Everyones got one. :flower3: And you're ours. Thanks for a different angle.

Since it's Thanksgiving, I want to say that I'm thankful for the really nice people on the Beach & Yacht Club Board. You make me smile, you offer good advice, and you give me a connection to my favorite place on earth.

Question--A studio is the same price as a regular room for my nights. We are two adults. I know nothing about DVC and have never stayed at Beach Club before. Is there any benefit to staying in the studio? It looks farther away from the boat dock, pool and Epcot but closer to the bus stop. The studio would have a microwave and a sink, both rooms have a fridge. Studio would have a couch instead of a second bed. Am I missing anything else?

In my opinion, the regular rooms are better than a studio.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

There are many things in my life for which I am thankful, and I want to let you all know that the friends and family I have met here have an important place on that list. It is amazing that a group of people who may not have otherwise met have become a part of each others lives through a mutual love of Disney and one particular magical place within.

.

I too am thankful for the friends met here - and to you for running such a nice thread where we can build friendships and skip the snarkiness!

When you first get in, take the train to the back of the park and you will be able to get on many rides with virtually no wait. We ran into a taping a few years ago and we just stayed clear of Main Street and had a fantastic day! We are moving over to YC from the Poly next Thursday so hope to see you enjoying all the Christmas Festivities and Fabulousness!

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. :)

We are leaving for WDW tomorrow morning. We''ll be staying at the WL this time, but we'll be at Cape May for dinner on Tuesday night. I can't wait to see WDW all decorated for Christmas. It's been 16 years since we took a December trip. :santa:

I'm sorry that we will miss seeing Teena on this trip, but I'm hoping we get to see her when we are at the BC in March. :goodvibes

Have a great trip and be sure to check the weather. I heard the forecast is all over the place!

Does anybody else think they need a cardboard cut out of Teena in the lobby so that when she goes on vacation we can still stop by to "see" her?

(Ok, I'll stop now...)
