Because this is one of the few places I believe people actually and sincerely mean it, I would sincerely appreciate some prayers - and PIXIE DUST - sent this way to our family by the kind folks at the beach club blog. Not want to bog down the fun, so no details (other than to say it is two things, both health-related), but I would appreciate the good thoughts. Now back to hearing buzzy's latest adventure -

Unfortunately, our dates have changed and we are no longer going to WDW in December. I'm sad about that, but even sadder that we are moving my mom to hospice care today. Anyway, we've rebooked for January 21 - 26 at YC-CL and hope that after mom is gone, WDW will provide a little happiness for us all, especially DD10.

Thanks for adding us to the BOG list, Dee :thumbsup2

You do a great job of keeping up with such a lively, fun, fast-moving thread and all of our changes :flower3:

Also, wanted to tell beebeeryan how much I enjoyed the video from your last trip you posted. My DGS has watched it over and over while LOL. I think it's an enchanting, heartwarming video and should be a WDW commercial! Thanks for sharing with us:goodvibes

Thank you for the kind words.

:goodvibes

Thank you. Thank you also for the pm, we booked a trip in August!!

That's exciting! Did you book at Yacht or Beach Club? Or somewhere else?

:)

After a very long time away from this thread, I'm diving back in. I'm friends with some of you already but looking forward to reading along, helping out, and learning anything new. Yay!! :cool1:

:welcome: back!!! So glad you are here again and that you were able to find us without much trouble!

;)

Forgive me for asking a question that's probably already been asked and answered somewhere in this thread...

We stayed at the YC this past April and loved it! I haven't been back on this thread since that trip so I am not up-to-date with all the BC / YC happenings.

A friend of mine asked me if she should stay at the YC next summer and before I give her a definitive YES, I wanted to ask all of you a question: Are there any big refurbishments planned at the BC or YC for next year? Room renovations or pool closures?

Thanks!! :goodvibes

:wave2:

Good to see you here again.

I see you answered your own question.

:thumbsup2

You are right, Dee. However, we noticed a new closing time for the quiet pool/hot tub while we were there this trip. It says closing is at 11:00 PM. I believe I have read that they are trying to close the quiet pool areas for safety as well as noise-level reasons.

That being said... almost every night we were at BC this month there were people in the pool and hot tub well past 11:00 PM. There was even a family who went past the "Poll is CLOSED" sign and swam anyway. This sign was up the first day or two of our stay and then was removed.

Thanks for that info!

:thumbsup2

The family is getting together to celebrate Christmas the weekend before the holiday. So that gets the obligations out of the way. For the first time in five years, I don't have to work Christmas Day, so I have a day off. What to do with a day off in the middle of the week . . . . so I decided to spend the day at Epcot. Got my FP+ and CP package all lined up. Then saw that I could get an ADR Christmas Eve at an Epcot restaurant I've been wanting to try . . .booked it. OK, so it seems kind of stupid to drive over to Epcot two days in a row during a busy week . . . so yesterday I booked the 24th and 25th at YC (and the 24th at a discount, no less)! Funny how having a day off from work can turn into a vacation!

So now its 10 days at BC in early December to really do the parks before the crowds hit, plus a bonus for Christmas at the YC. I feel like I won the Disney lottery!

:woohoo:

Sounds like an awesome way to spend Christmas! I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:santa:

We will be at BC September 6-13 Garden View! Can't wait!!:cool1::cool1:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

:cool1:

Do they offer muffins etc for breakfast at the small lounge off the lobby at YC?

:welcome:

Some responses were posted about your question.

Do you have an upcoming trip? Where? When?

:yay:

I am hoping someone can answer this: When we go to the beach club this February, we have invited our niece (who goes to college in Orlando) to come see us for a night. If she is not going into the parks do I even need to tell the hotel she is staying for the night? We would probably just stay at Beach Club but I wondered how I do that and still have her be able to go to stormalong bay with us without a magic band? Also how do we have her park? Thanks!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Others have responded to your question about adding on your niece.

:woohoo:

We opted to upgrade to Beach Club after being long time POR fans... DW can't tell if blankets or duvet are thick or thin. Being northerners, she is debating on packing a blanket. Are the linens different or thicker than POR?

Thanks

:welcome:

When is your trip? May I add you to the Be Our Guest list?

:cool1:

I haven't stayed at POR, so I can't give you a comparison of the linens at the resorts.

I am sorry to hear about your mom. Sending thoughts of peace and caring to your family.

:grouphug:

I'll make the change to the Be Our Guest list.

I am so sorry to hear about your family's health struggles and I am sending positive thoughts and energy your way.

I know that sometimes it helps to talk about the challenges you are facing, so if you are looking for a good listener, you can email me at beachclubdee at yahoo

I am already excited to have a trip in Feb booked at the BC. Now I am toying with the idea of upgrading to CL and I am wondering what people think? I know it being "worth it" is so subjective but still asking for your thoughts. We currently have our 9 day park hoppers and a garden view room for 8 nights with a grand total around $4400...when I change that to CL (just for kicks) it comes out to $5400. Do you think the perks of CL might justify $1000 spread over 9 days? We surely would use it for breakfast every day but other than that I am not sure how much else yet I am tempted... (of course, I already really cannot afford the $4400 so whats another $1000 right? lol)

That's awesome Dee. Good luck to Ben!

Good Luck to Ben!! Break a leg!! (not really!! hate saying that)

Nothing wrong with being a biased mom!!

~N

Wooo Hooo:cool1::cool1::cool1: Not long at all

Ben - Break a lug :goodvibes

Done!! I hate saying break a leg....

~N

Very handsome!

Ben- Break a Leg! (although you know from our past history it REALLY pains me to say break a leg!)

:offtopic:

Thank you all for the good wishes. Opening night went great! We were in a pretty scary state during the beginning of the week but the cast and crew pulled it together last night. A couple of minor prop mishaps, but overall a great performance.

I was so proud of the job Ben did. :worship: And his middle school drama teacher and choreographer and his art teacher were in the audience so it was great for them to see him shine in a major role.

1 down, 4 to go!

Thanks, again!

We just returned from YC and there was a set if blankets in the closet.

Sorry about your mom. I hope everything goes as well as possibly can for your family. And I am sure that your rebooked vacation will be wonderful.

That really is a tough one. We have only stayed once. You will have a great time no matter where you stay. Would we do CL again? Absolutely -- IF we can manage it financially to upgrade. At that point, we would not do the meal plan. Not that I believe the food offerings are enough to compensate. But having a breakfast everyday and dessert and wine/beer in the evenings really do make a big difference. We would just opt to have some TS meals paid OOP and other CS. Gosh, did I even help you? :confused3

Here is the link of pictures of the club level lounge and food/drink offerings throughout the day from my July trip:

Beach Club Concierge Lounge, July 2013

As I recently wrote: ;)

My favorite thing about club level is the convenience of the breakfast. We find that the offerings in the morning are the perfect way to start the day, enough to power us through the first few hours of the parks until it is time for an early lunch. We always hit the lounge when it opens at 7 am and we are able to make it to the 8 am early EMH park for opening.

I am also an early riser and I love being able to get coffee as soon as I wake up.

We are not usually around for the afternoon snacks, we enjoy the evening appetizers when we are at the resort. It is a nice to enjoy a pre-dinner treat.

We don't drink much, but sometimes it is nice to have a beer with the apps or an end of the day night-cap. My teen boys love the desserts in the evening.

I don't take advantage of the IPO to make reservations. I prefer to do that myself.

Whoohoo!

Thanks for the responses on possibly upgrading to CL....now that I have opened up to that possibility, which has better CL - the beach club or the yacht club?

Please add my wife and me to the list. May 2014 15-20. TWENTIETH Anniversary - NO KIDS - and our first trip to the Beach Club. I am researching my tiny brains out!

Doing a resort tour this morning. Walked through EP>monorail > Poly>GF>bus>DHS. Now we're on our way to AoA for lunch! Can't wait to see the 'new' resort and try out the food!

Hi Everyone. Just got back not too long ago from a split stay at the Beach Club /Contemporary Resort.

I just wanted to stay how surprised I am at how much I loved the Beach Club. I have stayed at the Polynesian, Coronado Springs, and AKL along with our latest stay at Contemporary.

Previously, I have had a love affair with the Poly, but I think now I'd much rather stay at the Beach Club…never thought those words would every come out of these lips.

But the amount of restaurants within walking distance, the pool, and the unbelievable short walk to Epcot, makes the BC my new favourite resort.

I just want to pass on my love for the BC to all you Disers!

:wave2:

I, Buzzy the Fly, your Beach Club Resort guy, will keep my eyes crossed for you, and trust me.... I have a LOT of eyes!!

Mrs. Buzzy made me take the Larva to the pediatrician today to get their vaccinations. Of course none of them would sit still, so some of them may have been vaccinated an extra time or two. The worst part was the co-pay for 1,227 Larva! The only thing that could possibly be worse is when they finally grow all their little legs and we have to take them for shoes!

Signed, Buzzy the Fly, your child poor guy!

Hi everyone!!! My goodness I have missed you people!!!:) We have had a little bit of a bumpy road the past month since we have been home so I have not had a chance to jump on here at all.

I will try to catch up over the weekend with who is coming and going!!! All I can say is that I am so glad we got to have our wonderful vacation in October! What fun!:cool1::cool1:

Can't wait to live vicariously through all of you that are plannning trips. Yeah!!!:yay::yay::yay:

Oh, I am so sorry! That has got to be really hard. I am very familiar with caring for a parent and I will keep you and your family in my prayers.:)

Hi BarefootMom! Like you are now, I started out in a gardenview room and then ending up changing to CL at BC and have not once regretted that decision! To us it was so worth it....but like you said....it is all very subjective. We absolutely loved the convenience of having breakfast every morning, snacks in the afternoon, being able to grab a beer or glass of wine to take down to the pool or to watch the movie on the beach, and we especially loved the cordials and desserts at the end of the evening. My DH and I actually felt like we had a date in the lounge every night.:rotfl2::rotfl2: I overheard my 13 year old tell them the lounge was the best with all this "free food".:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I definitely know that I could have bought all of what we consumed at Sam's club much cheaper but the convenience of it all is what made it "worth it" to us. We also didn't do the meal plan and paid OOP for all our meals. We came home with food money because we were just not that hungry in the parks.

I don't think you can make a bad decision here at all because the BC is wonderful in itself. So exciting!:thumbsup2

This was posted on a separate thread on the DIS- does anyone who has been to the Y&BC recently know where the pressed coin machines are and which logos are available?

Thanks!

I thought all 3 of the coin presses were in the Arcade right by Beaches and Cream , I still have another month before I can reverify that but if no one else does I will try to remember when I am in there acting like a kid again, that place gets more costly every time I step in there

It is wonderful that Disney has so many different and interesting resorts to choose from, but I'm with you!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and please let us know when you decide to stay again!

Thanks so much!

My understanding was that they were in the arcade, too, but I didn't know if anything had changed since the Hurricane Hanna's refurb last fall, when the arcade was temporarily hosting a QS grab and go.

Great! I have never gone that time and admit I'd be afraid of the crowds. :crowded:

I'm not planning on trying to hit any attractions that I don't have FP+ for. I've booked them between 9:30 and 12:30, then lunch at 1:30 for the 5:00 CP. I figure that will give me a couple hours after lunch to take photos and enjoy the holiday vibe before getting in line for the show. Since I'll be at Epcot the night before, I may stay for Illuminations that night so if the crowds are too much on Christmas Day I can exit after CP and go back to the resort. If not, I'll see Illuminations twice - no problem with that! I'm anticipating that the FP+ lines may be a little busier as well (I'm sure they will be pretty much booked solid for Soarin, at least) so I don't think I'll be wasting much time between windows when I factor in the ride time as well.
