Day 3 – Parasailing – Pool – Texas Roadhouse

TODAYS VIDEO – Parasailing across Bay Lake.

I awoke to look at the time and it was showing 5:00, so I spent the next hour surfing the net on my new iPad. Today I had planned a Florida ‘first’ after taking advantage of a Groupon offer for a parasailing flight on Bay Lake. I booked this about two weeks before travelling to Orlando and managed to get an early slot before the sun got too fierce. Sue and Emma had a lie in so we only managed to grab a coffee in the room before leaving the Hilton at around 8:50. We headed past OKW, Port Orleans and Fort Wilderness taking the back road to the Contemporary Resort.

The Security directed us to a parking slot outside Bay Lake Towers, where we made the short walk to Sammy Duvell’s Watersport Center to check in. The boat was full, so only people who were flying were allowed on the boat.

The two-crew members explained the safety procedures before heading off towards the centre of the lake. We were all fitted with harnesses, before I was first to be called to the rear of the boat. Sitting flat on the deck, a number of shackles were attached and before I knew it, I was ascending into the sky.

It was an incredibly smooth launch and the views were amazing. The boat circled Bay Lake a number of times in a figure of eight. I could see the construction work in Fantasy Land of the Magic Kingdom and right the way across the Seven Seas Lagoon to the Grand Floridian. I took both video and stills, whilst attempting to take in the occasion.

All too soon, I could feel the tug of the rope drawing me towards the boat, which meant my ride was coming to an end. Again, the descent was smooth as I landed in a seated position onto the rear of the boat. I was the only single rider since the other three parties were travelling in tandem. In total, the flight lasts around 12 minutes, and it is something we all may do as a family in a future visit.

Once back ashore, we had a wander around the rear of the Contemporary, taking a few photos, before heading inside for some breakfast snacks from the Contemporary Café.

We headed back to the Hilton and spent most of the afternoon in the pool. The lazy river is a most welcome way to chill out and never seems too busy.

Tonight we headed out along US192 to the fairly new Texas Roadhouse. This is located westbound, near to mile marker 3.

We arrived around 18:30 and as expected, it was quite busy. Our server showed us to a table, took our drinks order and then we were left to browse the menu for a while. Just like the one we had visited many times at Hunters Creek, the bucket of peanuts was waiting for us on the table and in no time at all, the floor was covered in discarded shells.

The website has a breakdown of the weird named cocktails listed here.

During our meal and in keeping with Texas Roadhouse tradition, the servers lined up along the front of the bar and performed a perfectly rehearsed line dance.

The food in general was good, but not quite the standard of what we had been served previously from the now closed location at Hunters Creek.

We made a quick stop off at Walmart on the return journey, to stock up on a few items and then headed back home to Hilton BC.

Unusual for me, I remembered lying on top of the bed when we got back, but that was all I remember until I woke at around 3:00am still fully dressed.
It must have been a busy day!

Coming up next – Clearwater – The Little Toot – Manny’s Chophouse (2)
