ok I went from having a huge lump in my throat looking at that picture to almost losing my breakfast at your tag line!!:lmao:

:offtopic:Sorry, but just had to post here, 100 days to go until the DW's and my "FANTASY" comes "cruising" along.

Holy cow! Where did the time go?
It seems like we just booked this trip...and now....8 months (and 27 lbs lost) later....we leave on Friday afternoon!

There feels like there's so much to do and not enough time to do it! Does anyone else feel like that. What sadly happens to me is rather than do what I need to do....I get overwhelmed, sit down and stare at my to-do list. :lmao:
1

I agree! We leave this Sunday and I am feeling the same way! Today is my "Disney Day"...looking through my big fat planning binder, confirming everything, going through my touring plans, and of course scouring the DIS for last minute tips. Panicked that I am forgetting something! Hoping after today I am feeling totally prepared and ready to go....

Sorry folks, I'm a bit behind in saying hello to new friends, and wishing everyone leaving in the next week or so wonderful trips!

I just snagged a Garden View room at BC for our trip in 8 days! I'm so excited!!!

I was booked at Boardwalk, b/c originally there weren't any standard rooms available at BC (with the AP d/c), but last night I looked online, just on the off-chance one had become available, and it came up!

Can't wait to walk into the lobby and SMELL that BC smell! ;)

:welcome:

So glad this worked out for your family.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest List for August.

:cool1:

Only 12 days now until my stay at YC - can't wait! I really think I will love being able to walk to either DHS or Epcot. I've always rented a car in past visits but this time opted to use DME and then buses for when I go to MK or AK.

:welcome:

Adding you to the list for August.

:woohoo:

We find that it is really convenient to get around using Disney transportation. Hope you have the same experience.

We had reservations at the Poly for January 2013. It would have been our first trip there but among rumors of possible construction during that time we have switched to the Beach Club Villas. And I have to admit- I am more excited about the Beach Club than I was about the Poly- so I guess it was meant to be!

Thank you all for the information and excitement you share- it is greatly appreciated!

Thank you thank you thank you!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:banana::banana::banana:

Glad things worked out to bring you to the EPCOT area.

I did call the bb line. I even had the number stored in my notes in case there wasn't a card in my room (which there wasn't one). I was very disappointed. I even asked again to be sure I didn't misunderstand and she told me there were no valid bb offers at the time. The last one expired July 31. We will still be going but now I am back to having to stand discount watch hoping something comes out for the dates we just booked.:(

Sounds like you rebooked. When and where?

Haven't posted in a while BC is definitely my favorite resort at WDW. We have stayed club level at Christmas time the last two years. This October, DH and I are heading down for the Food & Wine Festival without kids! We will celebrate my birthday and have tickets for Party for the Senses. I would love to stay at Beach Club but there are sadly no discounts for that weekend right now, and I hear it is often blocked out around that time. (We always got a great discount for club level.) So I am torn between the convenience and joy of BC vs. the Swan. We would not stay CL this time since it just the two of us and we will be grazing through Epcot. So torn...

Hope a discounted opening appears for you!

We are here now. I need to print out some tickets, do I have to go over to the convention centre to be able to do this?

I didn't see that anyone replied to this. Did you get your answer? What kind of tickets?

Ahhh, after the crazy upgrades, TWO parks, SAB and unpacking I am pooped!
What a day!!!!
Beyond belief. But extremely happy. I love it here!

Sounds like an AWESOME arrival day!!!

I'm glad your Soarin' plan worked out! Nice job.

You know what we do to offtopic posters around here...

We ask for more details!

Which ports are you sailing to?

7 days until our first ever stay at the Beach Club!!!! I can't stand the excitement!!!!!!

In my excitement yesterday I failed to give some BC info that I observed.
At SAB we got chairs no problem. There were plenty. Not sure if it was just a down day or what.
The lounge is small. Smaller than the pictures even, but so far not at all crowded. The boys just went down alone. DH is getting ready to meet them.
I jogged this morning. I forgot the map of trails so I don't know how far, but I went around boardwalk twice. First time I branched out down that little path by swalphin. Second time around I went to DHS until I hit the parking lot then turned around. It was a nice run. I think it was 4ish miles.
Our tv wasn't working. Dumb (me) and dumber (DH) called maintenance and they came in 5 minutes. In was unplugged. Duh!! Then, the guy needed light so he turned the knob on the lights that we couldn't figure out either. We have issues. LOL.

Safe travels to everyone heading to YC/BC this week! I can't believe it will be me pretty soon!

35 years ago today was my first visit to WDW! The reason I know that (and am reminded every year) is that we had just returned to our tiny little motel room after a glorious day at Magic Kingdom, and when we turned on the TV, we heard that Elvis had died. My mother, who was a big fan, was in the bathroom and hadn't heard the tv. I ran over to the door and told her the news through the door. It's one of those odd little childhood memories that just always stick with you...

Bob and I woke up and said "OMG it's so quiet." Boy do we miss the Princess and her Mom!!!

But back to reality. I get to have another "shot" in my heel today. It's the most painful shot I've ever had (the first one was so I assume this one will be just as bad).

Talking about reality. In the elevator when we were leaving the BC, Jeanne was sad obviously. Another couple was in the elevator with their suitcases and Jeanne said how horrible the end of vacations were. She also said "back to reality". The man said, "where are you from?" Jeanne said "Las Vegas". The man said "Not sure what your definition of reality is" and the woman said "I don't feel sorry for you at all". If they really knew what the real Vegas was like!!

Sounds like you rebooked. When and where?

Right now Sept. is booked for a RR at POR and Nov. is booked for a LM room at AoA (DD wants to stay there because of her love of all things Ariel :rolleyes2). I am hoping for discount offers for Oct. so DH and I could sneak in a weekend at BC for our anniversary. With us taking so many trips this coming year we just can't justify BC (or any deluxe) for every trip so I guess we will make our rounds at the different resorts. I just hope I haven't become a deluxe snob with our last two trips being at BC!:lmao: Oh well, at least we will be at Disney, right?

That documentary I watched about the school in Las Vegas showed reality! Some of those children were growing up in the most impoverished circumstances imaginable! If they didnt have the love and support of their teachers I dread to think how they would survive at all:(

I'm sure Jeanne is so glad to have your help and support to get her class in order. You really are a wonderful person:goodvibes

We are 4.5 hours away from WDW, but have had a little bumpy start. Yesterday, my one son spiked a fever, so we started him on tylenol. After inspection of his mouth, I saw that he has another tooth popping through, so I am hoping his fever is because of that. He unfortunately did not sleep well in our over night journey, so I only managed to get 2.5 hours of broken sleep after driving for 5 hours. My DH has taken the responsibility of driving the rest of the way. We stopped at a Denny's in SC for breakfast around 7, and after Finding out Trevor's fever was up to 103, we decided to give him some Advil. Well, 10 minutes later he decided to projectile vomit all over himself, me, and his brother. Our trip has had an eventful start, but at least we are almost to Disney and only one kid is sick!

I used to teach in an inner city school district so I can definately relate to that.
Jeanne is really lucky!

Has he ever been on an extended car trip before? I have one son who didn't ride well when he was little. He would get feverish and throw up every time. Then he'd be ok as soon as we got to our destination. Made for some interesting trips. Hope your son is better soon and the rest of your trip is filled with pixie dust!

That's very sweet of you to say. Jeanne teaches in one of the lowest income areas of Vegas. Lots of her kids are foster kids and some don't have "real" addresses ... we don't really know where they live. It's very sad.

I provide a "Disney" store for her classroom. They must earn play money (they start with coins and then change half way through the year to paper money - they learn real fast how money works with this store) by getting good grades, doing projects, doing homework, etc. Then at the end of the week they get to go to the store. There are small, medium, large and extra large treasures to buy. I stock it with mostly Disney stuff but sometimes we get lucky and people who are cleaning out their attics, basements, etc. will send her old McDonald toys or beanie babies, etc. to help stock the store. I get lots of Disney items at the dollar store and when Disneystore.com has a sale, I pick up the large and extra large treasures. I also get stuff at our Cast Connection (discontinued items, etc.). These little things are huge for the kids Jeanne teaches. Some don't even get Christmas presents at home. One guest (we call her Fairy Godmother) knits hats for each child for Christmas. The kids wear them all the time and are so excited. It's sometimes the only presents they get.

And one of the best things ever is that because of the hours I volunteer at Jeanne's school as a Disney VoluntEAR, The Walt Disney Company sends her school a $1000 grant each year. Her school uses it to purchase awards for the children so they can get something for reading, math, attendance, etc. Some of the awards are just pencils or book markers, but the kids really love them. I have to say I'm very honored to be able to work at a Company that is so wonderful!

Our children are so darn lucky. We are all so lucky. It's very sad that there are so many children here in the US that will never get to experience WDW or the things we give our kids.

Teena, I'm in a suburban Catholic high school, so we don't do fundraising or ask for donations.

But I'm also active on a teacher's forum, and have learned a thing or two there.

Have Jeannie decide on some of what she needs and place a request on http://www.donorschoose.org/ She can place multiple requests I think. But the best requests seem to be those that are very specific, not too long winded, and not for too much-- I think the donors like to feel like they're making a real difference.

There are probably some rules and regulations, but I bet her treasure chest would get filled up quickly, or that all her kids would have a new book or whatever for Christmas.

Also, if Panera bread is big in Las Vegas, have her contact them for a donation. When I was fundraising for my own kids' nursery school, Panera was very generous about donating "free cookie" coupons.

Hi everyone, we are off to the Yacht Club for the first time next Monday so getting excited now.

We have stayed in several Disney Resorts and have always made room requests by contacting the hotel approx 72 hours before arrival, does anyone suggest a better way, I usually ask for a high floor, no connecting door and a corner room.

Thanks
