2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

We are booked for our first Disney resort experience ever. We will be staying at the yacht club, club level for a week starting June 15. Can anyone tell me the layout/ location of standard view club levels rooms in relation to the lounge, elevators, lobby and storm along bay?

When we arrived late in the evening (after 10 pm) during the New Year's Eve weekend, the CL lounge was closed and so were the regular dining establishments at the YC/BC. I happened to remember the Crew's Cup Lounge and we went and ate there. I remember we had crab cakes, chicken strips, fries, a clam chowder and drinks. I think we also had some sort of salad. It was surprisingly good and really hit the spot for such a late hour. It has a really nice atmosphere too. I love all the wood and you can choose between booths, tables and very comfortable couches that surround a coffee table setting. I consider this one of YC/BC's hidden secrets.

I have to thank a few people. It took me a long time because I could not catch up with this thread, it moves so quickly!

Marketplace Oatmeal- I don't know where the original post is- but I don't think it was answered, or how soon the response was needed.

Someone wanted to know about the oatmeal available in the Marketplace- whether it is presweetened or available plain.

Feckless, or someone going in the next week, if you get a chance to check out the oatmeal situation and report back, that would be great!

Thanks!

Yes, thanks for bringing this obscure question of mine up!

And as for my first mission, I just tasted the oatmeal without toppings (took one for the team!) and can report that it is UNSWEETENED.
Yeah! Awesome, THANKS for tasting some tasteless, unsweetened oatmeal for random person (me!) on the internet! Was this at Marketplace or CL? Even if it's CL, I would assume the Marketplace would have the same type, right?

So one of my coworkers is also going to WDW in October, but a couple weeks before us. They are going with a whole group of 20+ people. I guess some are staying at the BC. We were talking about the Fantasmic Pkg and he was saying how they could only get the pkg with a lunch at Mama Melrose at noon, so they were going to have a ton of time between that and Fantasmic and they were talking about going back to BC and "sneaking into" SAB. I just said "I won't tell you how I feel about that." But he got the picture and he actually said that he doesn't plan to, but his sister is always the one who insists they can just go anywhere because their parents are staying at BC.

I did point out that they are getting even tighter on checking to make sure it's guests only and that they can always go to the quiet pools as a group. Think it's time for me to write that letter to the BC again about making sure they check.
Who do you send the letter to? I'll write one too. For what it's worth, we've been asked to show our KTTW every time. The first time we went back in 2009, they even asked for my daughter's key. She was 2 (and super tiny, she's very petite) and didn't have a key. I explained and they let us through, but I thought they were pretty vigilant. Then again, that was 2.5 years ago.

We will be taking our first family vacation to Disneyworld from Aug 17 to Aug 23! We decided on a Garden View room at the Yacht Club! I am just so excited!!!!

Yes, those who are willing to do the Dance of Extreme Excitement Upon Booking with me! (It somewhat resembles the "Pee Pee Dance" when I do it.) Thanks ladies and cheers for the warm welcome. :dance3:

I'll Dance With You :cool1::banana::dance3:!! Don't you just LOVE when you decide to make those ressies!!!!

I'm with you on the drinks................Does anyone know if they still serve the Sunken Treasure???

Yay, Missoutandabout! We'll dance with you!!!

I'm usually quick-on-the-uptake when adult beverages are mentioned... not sure how I could've possibly missed this explanation of Sunken Treasures. I have to go and scour the front page. :rolleyes1

Not only is dancing encouraged, I'll join in too :banana::banana:

I'll add you to the guest list. :cool1:

Thank you muchly! :goodvibes

Is this easily requested and do all rooms come with the day bed as this also looks like a bettr option, do they provide the bed rail?

Amazingly enough, I can answer this one. (I just requested a bed with a day bed this afternoon; it comes with the standard clause of "requests for daybeds cannot be guaranteed.") For the bed rails, just call housekeeping when you get into your room and they'll bring you 1 or 2 depending on where you'll be setting them up. My kiddo slept on the daybed last year; we used one bed rail and it worked perfectly. :)

Thanks to everyone who tried to answer my question about the Crew's Cup -- and special thanks to YCFAN for reviewing it! :cool1: I think it's kind of funny that in all our trips to the YC/BC (I think 6 at this point) as well as many of you who frequent either the YC or BC, we haven't even noticed this place!

Sounds great! I have recently found that hotel "lounges" often serve good food, in smaller portions, late at night -- I am really happy to find that there is a place at the YC that does this as well. :goodvibes

Ale and Compass is located just off the Yacht Club Lobby.
In the morning, breakfast items are available like coffee and tea, pastries, an assortment of cereal and fruit.

Thank you! Looks like we can grab a muffin, some fruit and a coffee for breakfast. That will be just fine for us.

Super slight change to my trip... didn't book at Yacht Club

Instead we're at the Beach Club with a water view! And yes... it's FINALLY booked. Just in time for ADR in a few days :rotfl:

Anyone? :-)

All the club level standard view rooms are on the fifth floor. They all have views of either a parking lot or a roof. For a very small amount (usually under $10 per night) you can upgrade to a club level garden view and then you would have a view of something "green" instead of a roof or parking lot. As far as where the standard view club level rooms are on the fifth floor, they are pretty much scattered around the fifth floor.

Like Teena said, the rooms are all up on the 5th floor. If you want to be close to the lounge and the elevators, you can request that. The elevator that goes up to the 5th floor is just off the lobby. And it's not far to SAB. Both the YC and the BC have really long hallways that can take you far from that elevator, but the 5th floor is actually smaller and has less rooms and shorter hallways. On our last stay at the BC CL, we were as far away from the lounge as possible (well, maybe there was one or 2 rooms that were farther) and it wasn't all that bad. But we asked for a SAB view, so we were willing to be far away. If you want to be close, definitely request it. Hope this helps! :goodvibes

Just curious what types of hot plates have been served in the club lounge in the past?

Cinderumbrella posted this earlier in the week- as indicated, these were the offerings at BWI, but representative of what is available in the YC and BC Club Level lounges.

I am not aware that there is a set schedule of which appetizers are served on what days.

The pictures on the first page of this thread in the Concierge Post were taken during my stay a couple of years ago.

Club level and have to absolutely give a wicked kudos to Chip. Mr funny and super helpful as well as TJ who we called Chips sidekick..
They were very enjoyable to visit with every day. TJ somehow even went out of his way on the actual day of our anniversary to do something very very nice for us. We made sure the management recognized him for going above and beyond

Glad you made a couple of friends up in cl. Thanks for letting management know that Chip and TJ helped make your trip special.

If you want to send a letter regarding something at the Beach or Yacht Club, for example one about supporting the policy of requiring the checking guests' room keys at Stormalong Bay, write to:

I see daylight between Mickey and the Monorail, although it looks like his tail is still touching.

One more month! -ish

I'll be checking into the Beach Club in 2 DAYS!!! AHHHH I can't wait, it's been a rough couple of weeks for me, so I am in desperate need of some Disney magic, and staying at the Beach Club is going to make it even better! :dance3: :woohoo:

Since I'm 2 days out, does that mean my room has been assigned already? I wanted to call and confirm that my full balcony request is on my reservation, but if my room has been assigned, I guess there is no point!

Even if one is assigned to you now, that doesn't mean it won't change a few times before you get there for a number of reasons, one being if you get there early in the morning, they try really hard to get you into a room that is ready. Your best bet is to go to the regular check-in line and when they start checking you in, just say you really really want a full balcony and you are willing to wait until later in the day to get your request. Otherwise, they could very well move you into a room without a full balcony if one is ready when you get there. There's a huge push to get guests in "ready" rooms even if it does not mean your requests. Just be firm and tell them if you are willing to wait for a room that does meet your requests.

Are the Lounge's "adult only"? or can you take young adults in also?

I don't think I ever saw the Crew's Cup Lounge??? Of course our first stay at YC, I walked around in awe the entire week!!!

Also.....Why have I never used the solarium? I think one of those comfy chairs has my name on it for coffee in the morning!!
