2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

It is official, me and my DH are so much worse than children!

We did not have to wake up today to leave for the airport until 6am.What time did we BOTH wake up? 4am:scared1:

We are wide awake, ready to go, waiting to wake up the kids.

We can not wait to get to the BC, meet the famous Teena and start relaxing.:thumbsup2

I will try to report on BC happenings while we are there.

Looking forward to meeting you!!!

We'll all be waiting for live updates Gincar!!! I check in on Friday - maybe I'll see you in the lounge! If you get the chance let me know if there are any foods or snacks in the CL we shouldn't miss. I'm sure everyone would also like any pool/slide info you have as well.

Have fun!

Teena - LOVE the Lily pic!!!

Two questions for the BC/YC experts...

We are planning a split stay with two nights at POR and then two nights at YC (primarily for SAB). On the morning we move from POR to YC, I'm hoping we can check-in and use SAB even before our room is ready. Has anyone done this? And I see that SAB hours vary according to season, but historically, about how early has SAB opened on Saturdays in May?

:goodvibes

Gincar, have a great trip!

Shellbelle, we've checked in at BC as early as 8am and in a few weeks, we plan to check in at YC (transfer from POFQ!) at 7am. I've read that 7am is when the system turns over to the next day, but maybe someone else can confirm.

As for SAB hours, our BC stays cover the months of January, February, March, July and August. So maybe someone with first-hand May experience can comment, but I think SAB has opened at 10am pretty consistently during our stays. The closing times have varied more significantly. If we want to swim before 10am, we use the BC quiet pool and hot tub! It's easy to hop over to SAB when it opens.

Does anyone know if there is a bounceback offer in the rooms right now? I would like to hopefully use it for our trip in late october

You can absolutely use SAB after you check in, even if your room is not ready. You can leave any luggage you have with Bell Services, or there are free lockers at SAB (get the key from Poolside Gifts) and in the health club

There are also showers in the health club if you need them.

Last I knew, SAB had posted hours of 10 am to 10 pm- this info is in the FAQ, but I had the incorrect info in the SAB post section, so I just changed that and I thank you for the question!!!

Until recently, the closing time at night definitely varied throughout the year and was based on things like crowd level, weather, etc.

Beginning on February 12, 2012 the official operating hours of Stormalong Bag are 10 am to 10 pm daily.

These hours will be in effect until further notice.

Also noticed I call it Stormalong Bag in one place, so need to change that too. :rotfl:

Dee, sorry we can't be added to the BOG list on page one but at least the DW and I will be getting our Disney fix. We're doing one week on the Disney Cruise Line the week after Thanksgiving when the ship (Fantasy) will be decorated to the T's for the holiday. Going to top it off with a one night stay at POFQ so we can spend quality time at DTD shopping. Told our travel agent (Fred @ SeizeTheDayTravel) that if he can get us a room at the BC for the same price we're paying for the POFQ then move us later on so there is hope we'll be able to hit the BOG list and say HI to Teena, but I'm not going to hold my breath for this. Just wanted to let my friends here on the thread know we'll at least get to see some of the Christmas holiday magic again this year at WDW. Best time of the year to visit (IMHO).

Please add us to the Be Our Guest List - BC for first time from 27th October to 3rd November.

Here in the UK we would give her a crust from a loaf of bread to chew on for her first non-pureed solid food (maybe a bagel or similar over there?)

In my recollection the best way to get them to eat is to tell them it's not for them and for Mummy only ;)

To all at BC/YC, Enjoy! I look forward to hearing about your vacations.

Teena, Lily is such a doll! You have gotten some great advice already, but I wanted to add that Jeanne can try mashing up Cheerios and adding them to foods that Lily already likes. At first she can mash them so they aren't really noticeable. Then start making the pieces bigger. For some children, texture is the problem, not taste. So, if you mash the Cheerios, the child can slowly get introduced to new textures.

Sounds like a great plan! Hope Fred is able to work some magic to get you to the BC or YC, but if not, it still sounds like an awesome trip.

I'll add you to the list :yay:

Thanks for the great suggestions! Love that last one. Reverse psychology rocks!

If you don't see one, ask. Either at the front desk, or call Mousekeeping.

There is a photo of the current BB clock on Page 1, in the FAQ section (either post 11 or 12)

So my family and I are leaving for BC in less than 2 months!! We have never gone in May before so any pointers about Disney in May?

We love May. We have been 3 times in May. For us in the north (except for this year), it was an early start for summer. We have found the weather to be perfect. We never have had rain. The crowds seemed low the first 2 times but last year seemed heavier. We usually do the beginning of May. Last year the first week of May started the weekend after Easter.

We were able to be there for the Food and Garden Festival last year and enjoyed that. Last year though, we were there over a weekend for Grad Night, so Magic Kingdom closed at 7pm that evening (which was a Saturday), which was our last night there. We usually like to end the trip there on the last night but we ended in the trip in EPCOT which was nice because it was so close the Beach Club after the fireworks.

We are crowd haters and also have been in January and March - May has been our favorite time. SAB never seemed crowded. We got all of our desired reservations.

We are starting to plan for June of next year so I am back on the board again - I wish we were going this May! I am glad to see the board still moving along and the regulars are still present and accounted for. It was such a help to me the first time we stayed at the Beach Club. My husband had the nerve to ask where we were going to stay next year - really? Men! (with the exception of those on this board!)

I'm becoming one of those people...I've got colored index cards that I'm going to use to plan our dining. One color for each meal period. One card for each restaurant. And then I'll be posting them on the wall and working out which places on which days.

Now that I have the Oct. hours, I can start to figure out our ADR's. Of course I don't have Nov. hours yet, and we might switch one ADR if Be Our Guest at MK is open during our trip...but we may not know that when it comes time to make our ADR's. And the problem...the one we'd replace is Yak & Yeti at AK...so that could change an entire day.

I also use the colored index cards. One for each day of the trip. I write the park ours & parade times on the front & on the back is the ADR #'s. Sometime I write notes for my TR's on them.
