Here's a picture of Teena's adorable grandaughter Lily celebrating the luck of the Irish:

about 8 months old, Teena?

8 months and 6 days. She's crawling and pulling herself up and standing real good. Not trying walking though. And she's very vocal. She talks to her stuffed animals nonstop.

Doctor told Jeanne to start on solid foods but Lily wants no part of it. Jeanne puts a Cheerio in her mouth and she gums it and spits it out. If anybody has any helpful hints, let us know.

Now that Lily photo is just TOO CUTE. Teena, I wish I had advice, but honestly, I can't remember! (Isn't that silly - the boys are only 12, 11 and 5, and I have no recollection!)

Teena!!!! She is adorable!!!! :lovestruc I want to kiss her cheeks :)

My second never liked Cheerios. Even to this day he is still weird about food textures. I would recommend trying different textures , maybe tiny bits of fruit cut up. Or Kix cereal was always a popular one for mine.

I find that if babies are hungry enough, they will eat what ever you put in front of them. IMO Babies that constantly graze on this and that or drink formula/milk tend to be the picky eaters because they are always full. So when it comes time to eat the nutritious stuff, they are not interested.

I'll never forget the first time I tried to give my now 13 year old rice cereal when he was an infant. The dirty looks and stink eye I got from that child are burned on my brain!! :lmao: Then we progressed to small curd cottage cheese. I put one tiny little lump on his tongue and he looked like a dog trying to lick peanut butter off it's nose. When making these types of food changes I made sure he was good and hungry. He was less resistant for the first couple of bites and then eventually he got used to it and would chow down.

Babies appetites are also like roller coasters with their ups and downs. It just about kills you when they go through that "Not Hungry" stage and won't eat. I've seen a lot of Moms freak out and start throwing cookies and fries at the kid just so that they will eat something. Then the baby is full on that crap and it's no wonder they won't eat the healthy stuff!

Offer the good stuff and if they won't eat it stick with the plan and offer it again the next time it's time to eat with out filling them up on something else in the mean while. They'll eat!

My son was never a Cherrios fan either. We did bananas and he loved those and my DD really like well cooked pasta as a first finger food. I would keep some in the fridge for her to "eat". Also, I found we really like the puffs by Gerber (or the store brand ones) and the yogurt melts were an early favorite and DD at 4 still asks for them as a treat since they are so good.

She's still super cute. Glad bless her. Gosh, it's been a while sinc emy kids were that age, but have you tried soft fruits, like small pieces of watermelon, banana, avocado, or mango? They are harder to pick up (easier if you put them in a shallow bowl), but tastier than cheerios. Might help with her pincer grasp too. Also, well-cooked, cubed sweet potatoes.

Jennifer - So, so sorry to hear about your experience. I hope they take your complaint seriously and make the necessary adjustments. I once worked on a project that required visits to hotels, and I know that hotels that cost much, much less than the BC have either a HK manager or supervisor go through every room to make sure it's guest-ready, every day. I saw a few doing these inspections and they would check underneath the cushions to make sure any crumbs were vacummed and check the top of the tvs to make sure they were swiped, etc. And these were hotels that charge 1/3-1/4 the rack rates for BC. I would also be disapointed if I were given a room that was less than clean. I expect to sleep in a clean room, especially for the price. My previous experience at BC and YC was that they rooms were immaculate, very fresh and clean, so I sure hope that what you encountered was truly a fluke and not a case of things going downhill. :HUGS:

Teena - Lily is adorable! Our little ones also loved the Gerber puffs. They are much softer than the Cheerios and sort of melt in the mouth. It's a great introduction to solids. They loved the yogurt melts too, but those are a little bigger and I think we introduced them a little later.

Now THAT jogs my memory! I would have never thought of it on my own, but that's it! Those Gerber puffs were a HUGE hit with our youngest. Of our three boys, our youngest was the most resistant to solids and he LOVED those Gerber puffs. That's exactly how we got him going with solids.

She's gorgeous Teena!!
Does she already eat puréed food? And they just want stuff with more texture?
If so, I agree that the Gerber puffs were more popular in my house than Cheerios. What about very ripe avocado? Or very ripe bit of fresh fruit?

HI We just planned a last minute trip April 6-14 at BC. We were there last Easter and my we loved the BC. I just read that slide and part of pool will be closed on April 9. Any info on this would be great. Will the volley ball part of the pool still be open? We are planning lots of time at the resort as the crowds look so high. I picked BC for lots or reasons but a big one was the great pool. Thanks for any info .

Thank you and :welcome: We have a lot of fun here :cool1:

Any plans to cross the lagoon and stay at the Beach or Yacht Club sometime in the future?

Actually yes, :thumbsup2 that's why I came here. I am a DVC owner at the BW and have done many visits there. I decided to try the Beach Club Villas:banana: Looking forward to it. :goodvibes

Hopefully we will have some more info later tonight or tomorrow about the closure. I know people are curious about how much of that section of the pool will be closed.

Yep, Jeanne purees Lily's veggies and freezes them and Lily eats it like crazy. She hasn't given her fruit puree yet. She's afraid once she gets a taste of fruit, she won't love her veggies anymore. I'll definitely tell her about the Gerber puffs.
