2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part III- DO NOT POST HERE- Summer/Fall

Hello from a DIS newbie,

I just booked the Beach Club for July 2, 2012 to July 10, 2012 (8 nights). This will be our first stay at Beach Club. We booked a standard room. The only request I made is a balcony. We are very excited to go to WDW for July 4th. Trying to decide where to watch fireworks MK or Epcot. Any suggestions?? My children are excited about SAB. Looks like a water park rather than a pool. I can see why everyone here is so enthusiastic about BC/YC. Can't wait for our visit next Summer.

:welcome: to the DISboards and this thread!

I haven't been to WDW on July 4, but from everything I've read, MK is gonna be NUTS on July 4. It will be crowded and difficult to get back to the BC from MK that night after the fireworks.

My suggestion is to watch the fireworks at EPCOT and enjoy your 10 minute (if that) walk back to the resort.

I'll add you to the Page 1 Be Our Guest list. :cool1:

I'll try to get the entire schedule which includes characters/santa/etc. but as of right now the only thing I have is below and I don't know what time is BC and what time is YC. I'll work on getting everything when I get to work on Sunday.

Dec 11 6:30 pm & 7:30 pm Lake Gibson High School Audio
Dec 13 6:30 pm & 7:30 pm O-Town Sound Chorus
Dec 15 6:30 pm & 7:30 pm O-Town Sound Chorus
Dec 17 6:30 pm & 7:30 pm Canterbury Carolers
Dec 19 6:30 pm & 7:30 pm Canterbury Carolers
Dec 21 6:30 pm & 7:30 pm O-Town Sound Chorus
Dec 23 6:30 pm & 7:30 pm Lake Mary High School Lake Mary High Chamber Singers

Thanks, Teena!!!

When you have the full list is it ok for me to post to page 1? Is there anyone there at work who has the file or can scan in the info and email it to me?

Or maybe someone staying CL during December could ask IPO to email a schedule to them... you can email me at beachclubdee@yahoo.com

Thanks for the suggestion. I believe you are right about MK on the July 4th. Wishes is usually crowded even when it is not a Holiday. I love the idea of watching fireworks from Epcot's World Showcase and taking a walk back to the resort. Sounds wonderful! Thanks again.

Also Hollywood Studios has special 4th fireworks. Another walkin' option. (Gotta love Y&B locations!)

Thank you for the camera advice. I read it to Joeseph and he thank you;MM.

Teena thank you for the listing of the choirs, the one night I would be able to listen there is no choir (12th) :sad1: Maybe some more would be added! I would love to hear my old High School Lake Brantley High School.

I am really starting to get excited!

PS: I read what I wrote last time and my son is finishing up his 2nd 9 weeks not his 2nd week of school! Sometimes I type to fast.

Would you like us to add you to the Be Our Guest list for December?

Yes, please!

Anyone here have any thoughts on how hard it would be to get into Beaches 'n Cream at about 3 pm or 3:30 on a Thursday?

Also, would appreciate your opinions on Cape May clambake and Yachtsman.

TIA!

Enjoy your stay! We leave today. DD will be arriving early Saturday morning from CA. Can't wait to see her.

Marla

Thanks Marla! DD and I check into YC tomorrow early. I left your dis pin at the desk at BC. Hope you got it. Enjoy your stay and the time with your DD.

Love these live reports. Could you do me a favor, if you get over to the GF and see the special pins for the Gingerbread House, can you tell me what they are charging for them this year? I've got a co-worker going down to the CSR in two weeks. Her mission is to get me two pins from there. Have a great visit with your DD at WDW. Can't be a better place for a family get together like this!

Hey, checked out the gingerbread house today... It looks great! The cost for this years pin is 9.95 plus tax.

ADR's are done!!! After slight inconvenience this morning, couldn't book reservations online (:headache:) and waiting to 7am to book, we got everything!!!!:dance3:

Here it is:

5/17: Dinner @ LeCellar @ 6pm
5/18: Breakfast @ Castle @ 8:05am (yeah!!!! we're eating at the castle, we're eating at the castle!!!!!)
Dinner @ Coral Reef @ 6:10pm
5/19: Dinner @ Big River Grill
5/20: Breakfast @ Cape May @ 7:45am
Dinner @ Crystal Palace @ 6:15pm
5/21: Dinner @ Rainforest (DTD) @ 5pm (oop)
5/22: Dinner @ 50's Prime Time @ 5pm
5/23: Dinner @ Tutto Italia @ 6pm

Which leaves us with 1 TS credit to use either on arrival nite/depart. day @ Beaches & Cream.

So excited that I'm done, but what to do for the next 5 months, 4 weeks as we wait..........

Congrats on your ADRs, of the ones you have, we've been to LeCel (a fav), Tutto, 50's, Coral Reef, & Cape May, all yummy.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Beaches & Cream takes Dining plan. I think Hurricane Hannas by the pool has the same burgers as B&C, and they do take dining credits. Our last day we had a burger & fries there for a CS credit.

Captains Grille is very good, in YC side, and they are on the DDP. You may consider using your TS there. We had a great dinner.

I don't know why there's a sad mad face... Anyway

Hi!! We're here!! Long long long day! I arrived at JFK this morning at 5:30am checked my bag and got on line for security... EVERYONE was body scanned so it took an hour to get through. Once through I headed to the gate... Then came the announcement we would be waiting for 80 band kids on their way from Pa. to JFK to fly to Orlando for a competition ... Right away I was like WOW 80 kids shoot me!! They had bus problems and we would wait...then we found out they were 2 hours away so we would leave them and off we went!! I arrived in Orlando 20 mins late to a very happy to see me daughter! We headed to the magical express and were loaded on about 15 mins later. First stop Floridian then Wilderness, Poly and finally BLT. Room not ready so we headed to Dolphin to pick up the rental car... Received a double upgrade! Still no text of the room being ready so off to downtown Disney for the always say we're going to have Ghiradelli ice cream sundae and never do (soo good). Walked around and finally at about 3:30 got the text room was ready (first 2 days at BLT). We're on the 12th floor overlooking the marina/pool very nice view and I don't see bugs!! We had a 5 o'clock ressie at Cape May (never ate there before). Was ok... then we delivered a dis pin to YC and one to BC for 2 disers who asked me to bring them with me. By now we were both really tired so came back to BLT to have a glass of wine at the rooftop lounge. Now both of us are in bed (comfy :thumbsup2:thumbsup2). Tomorrow we have a 9am ressie at the Wave.

So that was our first day! I'll post again tomorrow night!

Night nite!

~Nannette

:thumbsup2 Glad you made it o.k., and didn't have 80 school band members on the plane :rotfl:

Don't know what happened to my Dis pin in Aug? I asked at the frond desk if there was an envelope left for me. Must have gotten lost in the mail

Beaches & Cream is a table service. Hurricane Hannas is a counter service. Both are on the dining plan. Most people don't use a table service for burgers at B&C ... unless they are on the deluxe dining plan.

Thanks for the info Teena, I knew you would know!! I didn't think they took DDP at all! You are right, I wouldn't use a TS at B&C, the burger at Hurricane Hanna was fine! For a CS credit. We ate lunch there before heading to DME, the saddest walk!

It is definitely like tearing up twenty dollar bills IMO to use a table service at Beaches & Cream. That same table service could get you a nice dinner at Italy or Teppan Edo. I do love Beaches & Cream but I'd pay cash instead of using a table service!

Hey everyone, day 2... Another day of relaxation. Had a 9am ressie at the Wave... Very very good. We've never eaten there before but it was really good will eat there again! After breakfast we took a ride to the GF to see the gingerbread house... Beautiful! Then we went to the bath store inside the GF to purchase a bath bomb to enjoy the jacuzzi tub in the room! We came back and headed to the gym for a workout :thumbsup2. After our workout it was off to Downtown Disney for some lunch. We had lunch at another new place for us... Pollo Campero... Chicken with a Latin flair...also pretty good. We added a watermelon sangria with it ... MmmMmm! Then it was time to walk a little. We walked down to Cirque and back up to Legoland. DD found a new pair of sunglasses (thank you mom) then off to do another first drove over to Pop Century for a slice of tye dye cheesecake... DD has always had a fascination with that hotel, so today we had a look. We got back to BLT and decided to lay low tonight since the action packed part of the vacation starts tomorrow morning very early. I do have to say I like BLT and have decided if I'm ever going to get my husband to Disney this is the place I'll bring him to stay. Water view should be ok (he is not a Disney fan at all, and does not like the beach) BLT seems like it is the place where he'll feel comfortable. Yacht Club will be for me and DD :)

So I'll post again tomorrow from the YC after a very fun filled day!

Night nite!

Hmm was I the mailer of the pin? Sorry you never received one but if you want me to mail one to you pm me your address and I'll mail it when I get home.

Great to read your updates!

I used to live in central Florida and have been there at Christmas. I usually pack jeans, homemade matching t-shirts, a light wieght hoded jacket, and swimming stuff. I put light gloves in my jacket because my hands get cold real quick. I found out that the weather can be cold in the morning, warm in the day and cool at night. So jeans and t shirts with hoody jackets. Hope that helps.

That is helpful! Thanks. Enjoy your upcoming vacation. :santa:

Yes, please!

My family loves the Cape May clambake. When we (or should I say "I") plan our trip, my husband has only two requests - Cape May Cafe and Tony's.

You mean to tell us you left Mr. Nannette HOME!!! Well I guess somebody has to keep filling those pin orders while you are away. Do you think he got lost in the new place or did you leave him a map? Usually those husbands hang out by the fridge until the beer and the chips are gone, then they start calling the take out places. I hope you left the menus under a magnet on the fridge!

We booked Yacht Club - club level for my 40th bday in Feb today! We are just staying three nights post-cruise but super excited! We've been to WDW tons but never stayed at any of the Epcot resorts.

Hubby asked where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner and I said Beaches and Cream -- which he thought was funny since Le Cellier was still available! We aren't on dining plan so I'm just up for a casual dinner on my bday. And, we are going to Victoria and Alberts the next night for Valentines day.

I'm really looking forward to our first visit to Yacht Club!

I love it. B&C for the best burger ever and then V&A the next day for Valentines Day. It doesn't get much better than those two!!!

Hi everyone, fast post without even attempting to catch up. My younger son and I arrived home last night after a cruise on the Magic and six nights at SSR. Our last WDW meal was lunch at B&C yesterday and the decorations were up and beautiful. They were not up earlier in the week when we had an early supper at B&C so this was fun to see. There are some fun changes on the train scene at the YC. At BCV, everything was complete. In the CB lobby, they were working on the Gingerbread House and the carousel while we were there...fun to watch. I imagine they finished yesterday at some point. There was a special signing of the holiday YC and BC pins by the chefs yesterday from 1-2pm.

Decorations were up overnight at SSR early in the week. At the GF, they were up by Wed morning other than the Gingerbread House which was up early. Decorations weren't complete in the parks while we were there but all trees were up at the entrances and the restaurants had trees up, too.

Nanette, can't wait to read your reports. Have a great trip. You deserve it! Hope everyone soon enjoys the holiday festivities and decor.

OMG that sounds fantastic DD loves her Bath Bombs and was so excited last visit to discover she could buy them at Disney!!!!!
