2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part III- DO NOT POST HERE- Summer/Fall

Consider the excursion to Paradise Beach Resort ... it was really great!!! You got drinks (alcohol and non-alcohol) brought to you (as much as you want) while sitting in the beach chairs (provided) under the umbrella (provided) and I had a ball riding in the waves on the board (provided). If you aren't into the beach, you can use the pool with two huge slides. Lunch was also provided but if you go on this excursion (five bus loads did), make sure you are at the restaurant where they serve us our specific buffet ten minutes early or you will wait in line an hour ... which is an hour wasted that you could be in the ocean!

Thanks for the recommendation, Teena. Was this in Cabo or PV? We have a couple that we are looking at in PV (Las Caletas gets very good reviews on the cruise board and we think the kids would love the Pirate Adventure one, as well) but don't have any that we have thought about in Cabo. I really wish we had two days in PV rather than two in Cabo!!

Editing to add that I just re-read your original post and saw that this was in PV. Aack. Now more to consider in PV and still nothing in Cabo.

Welcome back Teena. Sounds like you had a great time. The cold days out of NY shorten some of the cruise experience from here too. But I'm sure you, Bob and your pals found something fun to do on the cold days.

We're back ... We had a super time.

I missed Castaway Cay and the Caribbean weather big time.

Would we ever do it again? No, but we are very happy we did it once and can say we were at Puerto Vallarta and Cabo.


I'm looking forward to getting back to work Sunday!!! I miss my lobby and dis friends and of course the carousel and decorations will be up. Can't wait!

See you in a few weeks .... and then again in January. Katie and I are doing a Dream cruise Will be too short I know but we really want to check out that ship!

Biting bugs are not my friend and I know acts of God can't be helped but I so would have been calling the front desk for help on that. Don't want to be eaten all night!

when we stayed at BLT, I saw these mosquito type bugs as well. We were on the 6th floor of BLT and took the stairs instead of the elevators. The hallways were filled with these mosquito type black bugs they were all dead and that is the only place that I saw them we never saw them in our hotel room.

We did a land and sea tour in cabo ... not worth the money IMO. But we had a good time even with the two bad weather days!!

I just booked our first stay at the Beach Club yesterday!! What do I need to know? Or should I just start reading the entire thread from the start??

I love your excitement about your upcoming stay! It is not necessary to read this entire thread (although I must say there is some very helpful and pretty amusing stuff here), but checking out the first page is certainly a great starting point.

So does anyone know the status of the construction at the YC/BC? I heard the BC had some going on over the summer and they were moving over to the YC after that. Is that going on now?

The latest is that it is still at BC.

I must have missed this. What exactly are they doing at BC?

Wow! Wow! Wow! Can't believe your fantabulous trip is in 3 days!!!

I know Dee!!! There have been a few changes.... Disney is having some issues with the aquarium... so our Dolphins in Depth and Sea Aqua Tours have been canceled. I booked the Platinum Plan mostly for those 2 tours... I would have just booked the Premium Plan had I know that the aquarium wasn't going to cooperate!!! Anyway I've spoken to the Disney Gods and there have been a few changes that I can't mention right now just incase my DD is spying on me... surprises for her!! I'll post what the surprise was after it happens! (if your reading this Ms. Stefanie hahahahaha I've managed to keep the surprise I can last a little longer!!!).

So that said BRING ON THE BUGS.... BRING ON THE CONSTRUCTION!!! I'm gonna be at DisneyWorld in just 3 more sleeps with my Daughter who I have not seen in 2 and a half months now... Yes Stefanie if you are reading this I am WAYYYYY more excited to see you than I am Mickey Mouse!!!!

The latest is that it is still at BC. I would think that since you won't be going until August stressing over it now might be a bit premature. Keep reading the thread though as many check back in after their trip to update us on where the singing construction workes are at.

When I was there last month (October 7-11), they were working on the front entrance of the Beach Club, and had also moved over to the Yacht Club on the side by Stormalong Bay, closest to the area between the two resorts. It is mostly repainting the outside of the building, it seems.

Here is a question, probley more towards Tenna or someone that knows the rules. I was thinking of taking a piece of poster board and taping it to the door or if I can find some magnets useing them and putting up a sign on our door at BCV that says"We are celebrating Joeseph's 13th b-day" so that anyone can sign it. I thought it would be a neat keepsake for his thirteenth b-day. If people come by and sign his card. Any ideas on this matter? Just thought it would be neat to have people who don't even know him to wish him a happy birthday.

I don't think magnets stick to BCV doors. I know they don't stick to the doors at BoardWalk Villas.

As Dee said, first page is great. Leave yourself plenty of resort time for BC/YC and Boardwalk area! And if you haven't already done so go over to the Resort Photo thread and dream away!

We're back ... as of 2:15 AM last night. Now I'm going to unpack and start the washer going.

We had a super time. The first full day at sea and the last full day at sea were cold ... no one was on the deck. I talked to a few crew members and they said that is to be expected. That turned our 7 day cruise into a 5 day cruise. The two stops were really nice and we went to Paradise Beach Resort in Puerto Vallarta and spent the day in the ocean. It wasn't blue and clear ... it reminded me of swimming in the ocean at Cape May, NJ. However, we loved it and are looking into going to that resort for a vacation sometime!

I missed Castaway Cay and the Caribbean weather big time. Both Bob and I felt the crew was actually better than on the Magic ... service was sooooooo fantastic! Food was identical ... same menus.

Would we ever do it again? No, but we are very happy we did it once and can say we were at Puerto Vallarta and Cabo.

I took a bunch of pictures (mainly food) on my phone but have no idea how to get them from the phone to here. MM ... should I send them to you? If so, PM me your phone number and I will. You all know I'm computer/phone/electronic challenged!

Don't know about the directions, but the BCV doors are wooden so magnets definitely won't stick to them. I don't think tape would be a problem, although when we were there no one had anything taped to the doors.

all I want for christmas is a pin code!!!

I swear to god, I have gotten three pin codes in the past two months all for dates that I can't use!

If it were not for the fact that we have a DCL trip right before our visit to WDW I would seriously consider changing the dates of our trip.

I am using Dreams Unlimited Travel for everything and they have been great, getting me the free dining and a great rate at the BC, but I need that discount!!

I swear to god, I have gotten three pin codes in the past two months all for dates that I can't use!

did you know that if you get a pin code for dates you dont need sometimes if you call the Reservations Dept. they can apply that pin to other dates if you call and check??

I JUST found that smart bit of information 3 days ago!! Wish I'd know that like 3 years ago...

SO CALL THEM!!!! Maybe they'll have an early Christmas present for you!!

Welcome Back, Teena!!! Speaking of colder days on the ship, we've finalized our plans to cruise on the Wonder to Alaska next summer. The Wonder seems like a more manageable size than the Dream (which was beautiful and in great condition but huge!) What did you think about the condition of the rooms and the ship generally? You know you're primarily responsible for this cruising after putting that idea in our heads back in July 2010!

Can't wait to see the photos!

This is such a great thread though there is no way I could read the whole thing ( I can only slack off at work so much)

We are officially booked at the beach club from 1/2-1/8. I have been going back and forth the past few months whether it was worth the extra money ( I will admit it..I am cheap) We have been staying at the pop, then POFQ, then BC, back to POP, but I have always wanted to stay at the BC and my DBF has hinted around enough so that I am pretty sure this is going to be an extra special trip for us so I decided to def. make our stay at the beach club. Now I just need the next 1 and 1/2 months to fly by.
