Good night from my super comfy bed at the YC! Having a great trip ;)

As a side note there is still scafolfing (?) up at the BC. And for me the pools could do with being colder, it's Hotter than hog and cooler water would be fab to get in ;)

I've posted once on this thread but am mostly a lurker! :) I do have a question though which I'm sure someone can answer. We're planning to book another WDW vacation next June. It will be myself, DH and DS(14). As we've stayed there years ago (11 I think) I was wondering about the BCV now and renting points. As there will only be three of us what is the differences between a standard room at BC and a studio at BCV? I've asked my son and he said he doesn't mind sleeping on a pull out coach but are they comfortable enough for a week of vacationing? I cannot wait to book this trip. I'm just having a hard time deciding on what to do. This trip will be as much park time as pool time also! We loved SAB years ago although our son was on 3 at the time and has no recollection of it. I know he will be in love with it once he's there. :thumbsup2 Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and Tenna, your granddaughter is beautiful. Obviously she and your daughter take after their Grandma/Mom! I cannot wait to meet you next year. Everyone on this thread seems so wonderful. I'm enjoying reading it every day (shhhh, don't tell my husband). :rotfl2:

Not sure if anyone answered so I'll give it a shot.

We have stayed in both the studio at BCV and the standard room at BC.
We enjoyed the studio but the standard room at BC was more to our liking. The furniture seemed 'nicer'. The housekeeping was wonderful and we always ended up with a full balcony.

Now the studio had the advantage of a microwave, full size coffee maker, bar/counter area with sink and a little extra room with the daybed folded up. Both had small refridgerators,

Hope this helps.

Posting to see how close my ticker is to 7 months! DS8 says that it should be called a Micker!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::

Love those beds at the YC. Glad to hear you are having a great time on the Dark Side.

What is the construction for exactly? Is it as extensive as the construction currently taking place at the GF? How visible is the construction?

They are sprucing up the exterior, that's all. Cleaning and replacing siding and molding. Just keeping the place looking like a deluxe resort. It is only visible if you want to sit there and stare at it. Yes, you will probably see the scaffolding. Just don't fixate on it because there are a lot of other places to focus on instead.

I just want to make sure I get the lake.. I don't want to pay the extra $400 for the pool! unless it's stormalong bay?? or is it that pool that's on the map that's behind the bldgs??

Could be the lake, could be SAB, could be a quiet pool. For Disney, water is water and they make you pay for it. I'd put a "lake view please" request on my reservation. Of course we all know that they are only requests, but at least they will know what you want. Do not do express check-in. When you are checking in at the reservation desk, find out where the room is. If it isn't looking at the lake, ask for them to put you in a different room. If one isn't available, see if one will be open the next day and you could move there then. For us, just being at the YC is good enough, the view becomes icing on the cake.

Thank you soooo much MickeyT for the response! I think I'm leaning toward the BC. Now to wait and book (hoping for a bounceback offer in our room in January) or book NOW (and hope for a pin to apply to the reservation). What's a Mom to do???!!!

Also, prayers are with all of you on the east coast. We here in the Midwest are fortunate to not have to deal with these sort of things. :goodvibes

I think we had the same room last year!!! :lmao: Is it room # 5661? We thoroughly enjoyed the view, the balcony, and the proximity to the lounge!! :thumbsup2 What a great pixie dust surprise!!! :yay:

Have a great birthday/anniversary trip!! School starts tomorrow for DD8 and we only have 17 days til our BC trip!!

Cindy

Thanks Cindy!

Isn't that funny, we are in room 5661! Just a perfect location! Right down the hall from the lounge and man what a view, especially at night!

I was telling my wife how the entry way seems wider than the previous BC rooms we have been in. It is really the perfect room to request for folks staying club level.

Thanks for the anniversary and birthday wishes!

Jay

PS. For folks coming down over the next couple of days, just an FYI. The monorail system has been a mess this week! Broken down trains (do they call them trains, I forget?) and long delays. We were 25 minutes late for our Park Fare dinner last night because of a disabled train. They did give everyone on the train an MK Fast Pass that you can use for any ride that expires on the 31st but not sure if that made me feel any better at the time!

Wanted to say thanks to everyone for the anniversary and birthday wishes. It has been an amazing trip so far. I'll update everyone when I get back. Too hard to type it all on this iPhone!!

Thanks again to everyone who wished us well!!

Jay

Just 22 days before we make it to the YC for our anniversary! Getting sooo excited, not even Irene is going to dampen our spirits! She might take our roof off, but not gonna dampen our spirits :lmao:

Hope everyone on the East Coast stays safe this weekend!

So to recap the week: Locust falling out of the trees, earthquake (felt it at work), and now a hurricane… Please keep your fingers crossed that we get out on Saturday night and the hurricane blows out to sea and doesn’t hurt anyone.

Stay safe & have a great vacation!

Missed the locusts, definitely felt the earthquake and now we're battening down the hatches for Hurricane Irene.

Let's see - when we were in Disney New Jersey was in a record heat wave and now Florida is missing the hurricane that we're getting. I'm going to keep this in mind the next time someone from NJ asks me why in the world we want to go to Disney in July!

Stay safe everyone.

I know, I live in Florida, and it feels weird to be enjoying gorgeous weather here -- in my concrete-block house with its roof strapping, industrial-strength garage door, and hurricane shutters neatly stacked in the garage -- while my friends up north along the east coast brace for a hurricane. Good luck to all in Irene's path, and stay safe!

I might need to borrow those hurricane shutters! We just topped off the gas tank and we are charging up the flash light batteries. The dog has gone to the library and picked out a few books for us in case we need some entertainment. We love it when he reads to us. It helps us get to sleep, especially when there's lightning. We keep telling him he ought to record those books on tape but he says there's no money in it....

Does he work for Bush's Baked Beans?!? :rotfl2:

Stay safe!

I'm with you, MarltonMom. We also live in South Jersey and I went out today to top off the gas tank and filled the propane tank for cooking on the grill. I got an automated phone call from Atlantic City Electric warning us of the impending power outage that could last for days. I have purchased my water , groceries , batteries for flashlight and radio. My kids just helped me put all the pool items and patio set away in our shed and garage.

And best of all, the soccer tournament for this weekend was just cancelled!!! We had a game this evening at 6:20 and it's our anniversary today and we sooo wanted to go out to dinner to celebrate. Now we can!:banana::banana:

Only bad thing is I work at a grocery store and I'm scheduled to work tomorrow evening and Sunday evening:guilty:. Here's to hoping the store closes!!! (Sorry to all you procrastinators that wait til the last minute to food shop)

Hi! Looks like we are going to be booking a BC stay for Feb. 2012. We are going for a convention of sorts and this was the hotel that was offered. I am a little worried because it has BC listed as max. occ of 2 so I am praying that they did not reserve only king rooms!!

I was wondering if there is a separate website for BC like the POLY and POR has? DS is wanting to find lots of pics of the slide and stuff.

They have a playground too, right? Anyone have any pics of that.

Any tips for a Epcot resort newbie?

Here's a tip for y'all up there in the path of the big storm: Go get some cash out of the bank! If you're without power or communications for any length of time even if stores, restaurants, or gas stations open they might not be able to process bank/credit card transactions. If power is out you won't be able to use ATMs. It's always a good thing to have some cash juuuust in case you need it. After things calm down you can always go put the cash back where it came from.

Good luck and stay safe! If we lived closer I'd hook you up with generators (we have 2), window units (we keep 2 of those, too), and camp stoves (gosh, now that I think about it, we have 2 of those! What's up with everything in 2's????)! Or maybe I wouldn't because if we lived closer I'd be using all our storm gear for myself. :lmao: I'd invite you over! Yeah! That's it! :thumbsup2

He washed out in the audition. Apparently you need to know how to use a microwave and keep your snoot out of the beans. He failed on both accounts.

GOOD TIP about the cash. I always tell my husband we need to do this but he is extremely dense and he borrows the cash that is set aside and never 'remembers' to replenish it..... so he's CUT OFF! :sad2:

After many conniptions on my part he keeps $100 set aside and he truly believes that's enough... (maybe for his coffee and donut and lunch out habit for the week.)

I on the other hand will have the where with all to come through in a real cash emergency thanks to my "big screen TV slush fund", which will be depleted this Christmas (Hopefully! :thumbsup2 )

The "good" news is that there are not many king only rooms, I think most sleep at least 4. Someone else can correct me if I am wrong here.

There are lots of pictures of the pool and some of the slide on the first page of this thread. When you get a chance you may want to look through that.

If others here have photos of the slide to post- here is your invitation!

Bad news on the playground- there is no longer a playground at the resort.

No playground? Ugh! Do any of the surrounding resorts have one? I guess it isn't a huge deal. We did without one last year at the GF.

That is what I was thinking. That king rooms were in more demand. At least I am hoping so.

Hope everyone on the East coast stays safe this weekend.....I remember hurricane planning all too well from our time living in SC. Don't forget to fill up your bathtubs with water, so you'll have water to flush the toilet if your well pump or city water goes out. :thumbsup2 And I second the posts about cash.....try to get some smaller bills, because no one will have change when you need it!

Please stay safe and heed the evacuation notices if you're in those areas!! Let's hope Irene fizzles out!!!

Cindy
