to the BC experts!

I have a question about the "Pebble Beach" (love that description) rooms at BC overlooking the flat roof/facing the parking lot: How far above the flat roof are the balconies on the 3rd floor rooms there? Are they basically right on the roof level?

DH and are heading to a big mall tomorrow with a Disney store in it (it's the closest Disney store to us, an hour away) so hopefully we can find some goodies there. We make our final payment in a few weeks, so that's exciting. The FD doesn't work for us at all, and we found out the BC and YC are completely sold out for our 10 days we're there in October.

If you are going to Tysons Corner, they have a bunch of nice stuff that they just got in! (just guessing since it's the only Disney Store anywhere near most of VA....) I'm not sure what Patomac Mills has... I tend to avoid that mall like the plague (Unless, of course, we're on an IKEA mission!)

Wow, I wonder if they are having a convention when you are there? It just seems to be a lot of people for the off season to me.

Has anyone ever stayed in a first floor YC room? Do they exist? Are any desirable? If so, which? And which are undesirable?

Our 1st stay at YC was in a 1st floor room looking out at the Wedding gazebo. It was a great location, lovely view. Only drawback I can think of was the visiting ducks on the patio.

I'm driving my poor wife nuts with my counting down. First it was to get under 3 digits (100 days) then each time there is a new first number I announce it to the family. "39 days, now we are in the 3's!!".

I told her this morning that we are 18 days out so the next big one is single digits, then one week, then one day!

She just rolled her eyes at me! I'm sure we all get a lot of that given how WDW and Beach Club crazy we all are!!

Yes, you can request a balcony- call CRO (Central Reservations Office, the main booking number) now, or if you used a travel agent, ask them to add it to your reservation notes.

When you checkin (don't do the online checkin), ask if your room has a full balcony. If it doesn't, have them check to see if there is a room with one available that you can switch to.

See page 1 FAQ for more (or some of the same) details about room requests and on-line vs. regular checkin!

We are staying at the YC CL water view in November. I want to request a lake view room, instead of the SAB view. We like to leave the balcony doors open at night.

Do the Friendship boats toot their horns late at night (when Epcot stays open late) and early in the morning or do they start at a certain time.

What time do the boats leave to go to HS if the park opens at 8?

Yes, we're going to Tysons. I've never been there before, so I wanted to go see it. The Dulles Towns Center is technically closer to us, but only by 8 minutes. lol Good to know about having some good stuff. We're hoping going on a week day would be better then a weekend.

LOL DH acts like that too, but then sneaks in little questions that makes me feel like he's getting more excited the closer we get. Our countdown started in the 200's so he's heard me said , we're in the 100's, we're in the double digits, and it's gone down since with every new decade we go in.

I think the Dulles Disney store closed down, though I can't say for sure since I hardly ever head out that way. Tysons is a great mall, though huge and super crowded. Not that bad at all on weekdays, though. The new American Girls Store is there as well as Lego.

That Disney Store location also does Vinylmation trading, or so they told me last week. I don't know if it is on a schedule, just in case you were interested.

With all the conventions and festivals at Disney in the Fall, I wonder how much longer those "low attendance" days will continue. It just seems that we're going to end up with the same crazy crowds as summer at this rate!

We are finally back. We got back very late last night. Today is the dreaded unpacking/laundry day!

We had a fantastic trip! Only one snag. When we drive we don't get into Orlando until between 2 and 3 in the afternoon so we usually just stay at the Buena Vista Palace in DTD. When I checked in they had a manager come over and tell me they had overbooked and didn't have a room for us!
It was a fiasco. Even though they comped us another room at the Caribe Royal it was a bad start to our vacation. We booked the DTD hotel so we could walk over to RFC for our first dinner. The Caribe Royal was a so so hotel but right on a busy main street that definitely wasn't our cup of tea.

Everything got much better after that rocky start.

Highlights - we were upgraded at the GF from Sugar Loaf to RPC!

We had our favorite room (the same room as last year) at BC! No construction in sight for anyone who is worried about that.

The Dis Meet was wonderful.

Our room was caddy corner from kldmom2000 so we got to see each other.
We had two reservations at almost the same time as YCFAN and had a wonderful visit.

DH was starting to call me a stalker since I had met YCFAN last year and recognized her at Narcoossee's. I saw her go into the ladie's room and went to say hello. Then kldmom2000 and I were talking across the balconies. I think he thought I lost my mind!

I will post lots more as soon as I get out from the mountain of laundry!

Hi! Sorry about the Buena Vista Palace fiasco, but your karma payback was the upgrade at GF! Congrats on that!! My DH & I will be staying there for 2 nights in Sept (1st time at GF). Could you please post some of the evening offerings they had there if you remember any of them? We are very familiar with YC's club level, but anxious about GF's RPC. Thanks!!

As some of you know we have a vacation planned for this week...Universal for 2 nights and the beach club for 6 nights. My hubby works for the phone company and they may be going on strike this Saturday night at midnight. We may have to postpone this trip until November, but right now I am sitting here typing with my fingers and toes crossed that all goes well!

The reason I am posting is to find out if there is anything that anyone wants me to find out while down there. Prices on items or information or photos of anything.

I am crossing my fingers and praying that Teena will be feeling better by then. We have been waiting to meet her for quite some time. (I don't know that she will be well enough to work by then). Get well soon Teena so you can go visit that beautiful grandbaby of yours!!
