Natebenma....on vacation we love to sit on the balcony for drinks ect...we usally base our hotels, cruises ect on having a full balcony....and waterview......not sure if the cost in this case would be justified....

my other thought is to upgrade to the club level?

any thoughts or comments....I really dont know anything about it....is there somewhere I can go to read about the CL....

You can check out the CL post on the first page of this thread. Information and pictures of the lounge and food offerings.

CL at BC will not guarantee you a better view (they have all 3 booking categories- standard, garden and water)

I can certainly understand the desire for a full balcony- I feel the same way- I love to have a balcony in the morning to go out and read and enjoy a cup of coffee before everyone else wakes up. I guess the view doesn't matter to me because the times I enjoy the balcony, it is dark and I can't see anything anyway!!!

We booked a water view pool view room was wondering if I can request a balcony ?? I know we arrive on the 28th but my DD is celebrating her sweet 16 there and I think It would be nice to sit out there while everyone is getting dressed etc ... I guess I should make that call now then ?? Anyone have photos of the Pool / Water view rooms ?? we are 5 in a room but we are really looking forward to it !! :thumbsup2

we booked a standard room ...and after seeing some of the pics..and posts...getting a little disapointed...
I truly thought the BC was a great choice..for our 1st EVER in the park stay..now not so sure...please calm my fears.....
I tend to be picky about views in general. We've always booked beachfront/full ocean view in Mexico and the Caribbean. But, as my kids get older and they don't nap consistently (or at all :rotfl2:), I really find that paying for a view that you wll enjoy for, maybe, 15 minutes a day seems less valuable. For our last Disney trip, we booked a Savannah view at AKL and it was lovely, but we did make a point to stay in the room at certain times so we could see the animals. For example, we arrived early on our arrival day and spent the day at AKL. On departure, we also did not have a park planned. On two afternoons, we came back early (after morning in water parks and lunch) and spent some time in the balcony. What I am saying, is if you are going to pay for a certain view, it will also cost you in time to enjoy that view. We've booked just a GV for our upcoming trip at YC. I think my kids won't be napping at all by then.

New Lily photo- 3 weeks old!
Too cute. Makes me a little sad that my "babies" are all grown up (my youngest is starting preschool!). It seems like it wasn't that long ago when they were sleeping in the boppy with their hands up in the air.

We are home from an exhausting, but in a good way, 5 day trip. :goodvibes All in all, we left wanting to come back, which in my opinion, is the sign of a successful trip. :thumbsup2
Thank you for the mini-report. We're staying for only 4 days, but I had already decided I need to fit a Captain's Grille breakfast in there somewhere.

I have 1 thing to say concerning this...

PARTY THROUGH THE PARKS!!!!!

http://www.partythroughtheparks.com/fun-games-park-style/2010/6/20/drink-around-the-world-at-epcots-world-showcase.html

This site is the bomb!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Not only do they give you a detailed description of just exactly what is in a given drink, they compare prices with alcohol amounts for the true lushes/bargainistas.(right DEE?) :lmao:

PS. There will be a quiz.... (open bar!)
My type of site. I didn't choose the screen name of "vino tinto" by being dry. :drinking1 Mr vino tinto will love this. I'm printing this out and bringing to F&W!

A quick update from floor 5 of BC.

Full balcony, The works. Walked back over and had dinner (or as we Carolinians call it 'supper) at La Hacienda de Angel. Good stuff. Different, Menu kinda scares you to start out but after some friendly banter with the waiter we all got a meal to enjoy.
Great view! We've been debating La Hacienda vs SAI. Thanks for the updates.

Shoot! You caught me! Darn!!! Here is the untouched photograph taken straight out of the camera with out any kind of photoshopping what so ever.

I have a super-duper important question. Does the BC/YC have a "hidden" Russell Crowe or Matt Bomer view? :cloud9:

Hi! If it's a full balcony with a nice view you want, I would suggest Yacht Club waterview. Then request a lake view. Spectacular! Watching the Friendship boats float along. You can also see the gorgeous flowers & landscaping, the lights on the Boardwalk & maybe even parts of Epcot, like the Eiffel Tower.

Here's a link to the Club level info thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2582311

Teena, congrats on Lily's arrival! :goodvibes She is sooo sweet! :cloud9: Hope you are feeling better soon. And since we're at YC Sept 10 -15, I'll see you in the pool! We usually get in just before the afternoon rain! :rotfl:

To Marlton Mom: that was SOME view (i.e. the 'untouched' garden view pic :lmao:). I may have to consider that view next time...haha!

Kerry

Just make sure you specify "Front" or "Rear" view for Matthew. :magnify:

hi again all, sitting here catching up on all the pages...to be honest with you all, getting nervous about the room/view...we booked a standard room ...and after seeing some of the pics..and posts...getting a little disappointed...
I truly thought the BC was a great choice..for our 1st EVER in the park stay..now not so sure...please calm my fears.....

Like anything there are positives and negatives about a room's view. My husband liked it because no one could look in (or out... LOL) from the room. To be honest with you you will be busier than a 3* legged paper hanger and you'll be tired to boot so you won't really be standing around twiddling your thumbs looking at your view.

The thing that got me steamed was that I paid $9 a day extra for that "Garden View" which, in my opinion, was not in keeping with what one expects from Disney when they are selling you an upgrade.

So here's what I would do next time:

#1. not pay any additional money for an upgraded view.

#2. know that the view is not going to significantly affect my enjoyment of the resort because I will be busy spending as much time out of the room as possible and only going back to the room when I am going to collapse from exhaustion.

The important thing to remember is that while we are sitting here at home ~ we have the time to over analyze every little thing about our trip ~. We all do that....Then we get to the resort and we hit the ground running and we almost never have the time to look back.

Every Hotel from the Grand Floridian to Pop Century has it's "Feast and Famine" locations... But like Teena always says... how much time do you really spend in the room?

Remember.. You are going to Disney. You WILL have a really great vacation! All the rest is just icing on a very moist and delicious, decadent and calorie free chocolate cake!! :cake:

* yes, I know it's supposed to be a 1 armed, 1 legged paper hanger. I figure with 3 legs he will be tripping all the time and have just as much trouble.

I have a super-duper important question. Does the BC/YC have a "hidden" Russell Crowe or Matt Bomer view? :cloud9:

Why Yes!! YES it does!! They would be located in the brunette section of the fantasy (Closet) suites at the Beach Club.

For those of you that don't know who he is, Google Matt Bomer and then say silently to yourself "I am turning into a cradle robber , I AM turning into a cradle robber!!!!

This is very true. When we were there last month, I had a garden view similar to yours. We also had the added enjoyment of viewing some construction equipment and orange cones. :lmao: I didn't feel like trying to change rooms and everything was fine. I could barely hear the construction noise during the day when we were in the room and I mainly used the balcony at night to listen to Illuminations and watch the higher fireworks. It was perfect for that!

Hello all!

1) Adorable Lily photo - just adorable! Teena, still sending all those positive thoughts and healing prayers to you!

2)
I keep checking the Build a Better Mousetrip website for the schedule of movies at Beach Club for August, but they still don't have them listed.

Usually, I check buildabettermousetrip.com each month for fun. But this month, I'd really like to know because we'll have three non-park evenings between our BWI and BC stays. So, of course, the month that I'm really interested in this for actual planning purposes and not just general interest, it doesn't show up! Maybe if I stop checking, it will show up!

3) Feckless and Dee, I'm with you! Except our oldest is only interested in the adult menu and our middle son is 100% kids menu. Makes it hard to pack picnics when two are requesting plain ham sandwiches and the other wants bruschetta, caprese salad, and an assortment of domestic and international cheeses.

4) The view. I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed by any room view. I know we've been fortunate over the years, but it seems like there is always something positive about each view, and we book either standard or garden. Even at WL overlooking the dumpster, we saw the MK fireworks when we looked up at night.

Yay I caught up! I don't check the disboards for a week and I get seriously behind.

Teena - I'm sorry for the latest prognosis and hope you recover soon enough to help Jeanne in September. and oohh gosh Lilly is stunning!! Thank you for sharing her with all of us.

DH and are heading to a big mall tomorrow with a Disney store in it (it's the closest Disney store to us, an hour away) so hopefully we can find some goodies there. We make our final payment in a few weeks, so that's exciting. The FD doesn't work for us at all, and we found out the BC and YC are completely sold out for our 10 days we're there in October.

Saturday is DH's and I's 6th wedding anniversary, but we're celebrating with our trip so it will be pretty much another day. lol

Like many others have already said, thank you for all the work you all put into this thread. It has been a HUGE help to me as being a first time Beach Clubber. I appreciate all that you all do to keep it looking awesome. :surfweb:

Lily is sooo adorable. I can't wait 46 more days and I will be lounging at the YC!!!!

Mmmm... love me some Matt Bomer. My mother met him recently in Houston, and when I asked if she got a picture with him, she said no, because his eyelashes had turned her (at age 68) completely speechless.

I definitely want the fantasy closet suite at BC, but not sure my DH and DS's would be on board with it. DH still thinks we watch 'White Collar' together because I like the storylines. :rotfl2:

I have to go google this Bomer person. :confused3

I was reading up on where to catch a glimpse of EPCOT's fireworks. Possibly a dumb question but could one not just take the walkway or boat to EPCOT and watch 'em from the walkway type area? Isn't that a quick walk? My memories of the BC and EPCOT areas are getting fuzzy.

I'm not sure about this, but I'll share our experience from May when we watched Illuminations from outside the park. As we were standing on the bridge between BWI and BC, I was thinking about that. But it looked like the trees around that area might obstruct the view - you might be too low and have too much in the way - but again, I'm not certain. Here's what I saw when I was thinking this - you can sort of see the trees in the photo near the walking path to Epcot:

Thanks for the info! I knew it would be you who answered because looking at your firework pic in the OP made me think of this question. You seem to have all the answers. :lmao: & :thumbsup2

The view is really such a minor factor in my enjoyment of a stay at the Beach Club.

The benefits of the Beach Club- 5 minute walk to EPCOT, AMAZING pool complex, friendly and helpful staff and service- these are the things that are important to me. We always book standard view because I don't care what I am looking at outside the door and it is not worth it to my family to pay extra just to see some trees or water. The pebble rooftops don't bother me.

But this is my own individual opinion and your family's priorities may be different.

We feel the same. We dont give a flyinhoopza what we are looking at. We always book standard. I am too much of a cheap wad. If I want poolview I go to the pool.:lmao: We booked standard cl this trip. If I had one request it would be the bigger daybed thats it.

Yes, you can request a balcony- call CRO (Central Reservations Office, the main booking number) now, or if you used a travel agent, ask them to add it to your reservation notes.

When you checkin (don't do the online checkin), ask if your room has a full balcony. If it doesn't, have them check to see if there is a room with one available that you can switch to.

See page 1 FAQ for more (or some of the same) details about room requests and on-line vs. regular checkin!

Wow, on vacation and up at 4:00 in the morning. Mike, your dedication to this thread is just outstanding. Hope you made your EMH opening this morning and your DW's leg is feeling better.

Thanks Katesdad. The 4am thing is the result of 30+ years of working crazy hours for a power co. People just love that electricity 24/7 for some reason!!

Wifes leg did get better. We did EMH opening at MK and everything went according to plan. All three montains, Buzz, and HM before 10. Then back around with FP's. Out of the park, Whispering Canyon for a meat bucket and on to SAB for the afternoon. We did the Fantasia Gardens Minature golf last evening. Really enjoyed and tons of laughs (mostly at my golfing skills or lack there of). Another great day

Thanks for the 'live' report MickeyT...nice room location for standard! With all this talk about room types/location, I went back to check and we were in Room 5712 last August. It is down the hall a little further than your room but facing the parking lot (though we really couldn't see the parking lot). A roof was 4 floors below. We didn't mind 'Pebble Beach' at all! When we looked to the right we had a view of BCV and Spaceship Earth. It was beautiful at night! We could also see Wishes in the distance to the left.
Kerry

Only thing I would say to the people that want a room on the SAB side of the resort. Be ready for some afternoon fun. Those lifegaurd and activity folks know how to light it up!

Hello all!

2) Movies for August

Sunday * Gnomeo and Juliet- Rated PG

Monday* Beauty and the Beast - Rated G

Tuesday * Hercules - Rated G

Wednesday* The Sword and The Stone - Rated G

Thursday * Tangled - Rated PG

Friday* A Goofy Movie - Rated G

Saturday* Toy Story 3 - Rated G

4) We quit requesting room views a few years ago. Seem to always do better and/or enjoy what we come up with. (Now I do request a full balcony)

On the plan for today.
Hs Rope Drop
Back for some serious rest
Early Flying Fish Cafe
Evening EMH at MK <<<This one kinda scares me as we are early EMH people.

Oh and Teena....Almost slipped past me. Happy Anniversary :flower3:. Take care of yourself .

Has anyone ever stayed in a first floor YC room? Do they exist? Are any desirable? If so, which? And which are undesirable?
TIA

Thanks for the live info, and especially the movie listing, Mike!

Have a fantastic day, although since you are probably already headed for HS, hope you HAD a fantastic day!!!

Continue to enjoy your trip

:)
