After briefly flirting with the resort changer lifestyle, I just threw caution (and money) to the wind and booked BC with a water/poolview upgrade for our Nov/Dec. trip. Do I want to make any requests? Any specific rooms I want to try for that have a great view of something or that are close to an exit, etc???

TIA!

When you get a chance, check out the FAQ section of page 1. There is some info about room requests there.

About 50% of the balconies at the Beach Club are full balconies, the rest are smaller Juliet (standing) balconies, so personally, a full balcony would be my request.

I keep checking the Build a Better Mousetrip website for the schedule of movies at Beach Club for August, but they still don't have them listed.

There are emergency stairs to the fifth floor. Most of the time they are locked. The stairs are used for evacs only.

You may want to consider booking a club level deluxe room and request the one on the first floor and then everybody in your family can use the elevators to get to the lounge and they could bring you your lounge selections to your room. Just make sure you put on the reservation and tell IPO that you have a fear of elevators!!!

Yep! They had to unlock the doors during the crazy fire drill last August!

Thanks for the 'live' report MickeyT...nice room location for standard! With all this talk about room types/location, I went back to check and we were in Room 5712 last August. It is down the hall a little further than your room but facing the parking lot (though we really couldn't see the parking lot). A roof was 4 floors below. We didn't mind 'Pebble Beach' at all! When we looked to the right we had a view of BCV and Spaceship Earth. It was beautiful at night! We could also see Wishes in the distance to the left.

To always: nice trip summary! We didn't get to Captain's Grille...but from what I've been reading, it sounds like a good place.

To Marlton Mom: that was SOME view (i.e. the 'untouched' garden view pic :lmao:). I may have to consider that view next time...haha!

In the air...on the way to Orlando! We check into Beach Club tomorrow!!!:cool1: We are staying offsite tonight.

I love that this thread has an official granddaughter. :cloud9: She is just so sweet. :)

One more piece of dining advice to add to all of the other great suggestions already offered.

Even if you don't know exactly what you will be doing each night, make a dining reservation- as you suggested, in the World Showcase, or maybe Boardwalk- try Kouzzina. I'm DYING to try Kouzzina!

As long as it is not a place that requires a Credit Card hold, you can cancel last minute without penalty (and, please, do cancel if you are not going to keep the reservation).

That way, if you can't find another place to eat, you will have someplace to go.

KWIM?

That's excellent advice... I am still wondering about my picky eating DD but my research seems to show that she can order kids' food even if we pay an adult price. I think DS would do better with adult food, but DD definitely would do better on the kids' menu. I will just get them to switch plates! LOL

Found out tonight that although we were planning on booking the Tony's and safari Grand Gathering experiences, they are being cancelled after January 2012. So, more ADRs to decide on! :rotfl: Seriously, is there anything else to the GG but just the experiences? Our family is staying BCV so getting rooms near each other isn't going to happen anyway.

That is the exact dynamic we have in my family! My older son is a picky eater and the youngest has not met a food he doesn't like! In fact, a recent dining dilemma he had on vacation was whether to order the squid or the octopus sushi (he wanted both, so my DH got the other so they could split).

Anyway, when Nate was a Disney adult (at the ripe old age of 10) and Ben was still in the child category, there were many meals that they switched!

Do they still have the special Illuminations viewings for Grand Gatherings?

hi again all, sitting here catching up on all the pages...to be honest with you all, getting nervous about the room/view...we booked a standard room ...and after seeing some of the pics..and posts...getting a little disapointed...
I truly thought the BC was a great choice..for our 1st EVER in the park stay..now not so sure...please calm my fears.....

From the article this morning it seems they are canceling all Grand Gathering events as of the end of January 2012. I am so disappointed since my mom was talking about taking the whole family for a GG in 2013 (when the baby is a little older).

The view is really such a minor factor in my enjoyment of a stay at the Beach Club.

The benefits of the Beach Club- 5 minute walk to EPCOT, AMAZING pool complex, friendly and helpful staff and service- these are the things that are important to me. We always book standard view because I don't care what I am looking at outside the door and it is not worth it to my family to pay extra just to see some trees or water. The pebble rooftops don't bother me.

But this is my own individual opinion and your family's priorities may be different.

Natebenma....on vacation we love to sit on the balcony for drinks ect...we usally base our hotels, cruises ect on having a full balcony....and waterview......not sure if the cost in this case would be justified....

my other thought is to upgrade to the club level?

any thoughts or comments....I really dont know anything about it....is there somewhere I can go to read about the CL....
