I am sitting at home with my kids today because school is canceled due to power outages all throughout N.J. I am a teacher and it looks like we will again be teaching until almost July if this weather keeps up.

My question is will the kids be able to swim in March? The pool looks beautiful, just wasn't sure of the weather in Orlando in March.

Happy Halloween!!! Going to go get our snow boots so we can trick-or-treat tonight....

We've swam in the pools in February before now whilst the lifeguards have been in their winter jackets:cool1:
Pools are always warm:thumbsup2

I hear that the pools are heated.....................but for the life of me I still don't know how people swim during the colder months :confused3

I would freeze, literally!!! It's 53 right now outside, and I'm sitting here at my desk with the heater on, a sweatshirt, coffee and yet.........I've got goosebumps.

My hands feel like ice. I could never make it up north!!

Not too sure but, isn't it quite early for snow?:confused3
I know here in England we're experiencing warm(ish) winds from the south for this time of year! Saying that though, you kind hearted Americans usually send us the left overs of most storms, hurricanes, snow storms etc:headache:

Think i might turn on Fox News and see whats going onpopcorn::
STAY WARM AND STAY SAFE:hug:

Yupp very early for snow. People have been making Jack O' Men. I think MM has one on her yard. For us the biggest problem is the snow is early and was very wet. Lots of leaves on the trees yet to capture all that wet snow until it gets so heavy it snaps or leans on a power line. Lots of High Tensin(sp?) power towers were taken out as well. Just a big mess here!

Take care!

Another update from moi!

Finally we got a hotel room today! Hotel has power but no internet, but cell service is working so I added the "Hotspot" plan where I can use my iPhone as a wireless router. I'l just cancel the service when we get back home. Lucky I called for this hotel last night cause, it is already full again and it is the same story everywhere. Restaurants are also packed. But hey we have a fridge and a microwave, the possibilities in our hotel room are endless! :rotfl:

Still lots of people without power. Funny thing is through all of this I've seen one, yes one power co. truck out (on our way home from in-laws in NW Jersey) and it wasn't anywhere near us, it was Jersey Power and Light and where Pennsylvania Power & Light :sad2:

DD can do school now (she's cyber schooled) and that is good! (although she would sing a very different tune) :rolleyes1

Update on health... UTI feeling better, Aunt you know who well... (I know TMI, but too bad!), DD did not throw up last night!!! :cool1: Went back to bed/sleep and slept fine all night with no issues this a.m.

Hopefully, our power will be back soon, but I'm not banking on it... toodles...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

To everyone out there suffering from loss of electricity, fallen trees and inches of snow, I wish you electricity, connectivity, safety and light!!! Hang in there!!!

And it wouldn't be a proper YC/BC holiday without an adorable picture of Teena's granddaughter Lily!

OMG she is so cute!!

I can't believe all of the snow! And Lily is such a doll :).

Happy Halloween, everyone. My Ariel didn't trick or treat tonight, she fell asleep early but she can't wait to use her costume at WDW in 45 days!!!

(Nevermind the "quit taking pictures, mom" face)

To everyone on the East Coast without power, take heart. It will get better. Here in far western KY, we suffered a huge ice storm in January, 2009, and we had no electricity at my house for 22 days, no cell phone service (because towers were down too) for over a week, and no land line phone service for nearly a month. Trees were down everywhere and it literally took me 3 hours to drive 25 miles at an attempt to find a gas station with power to fill the car up. Just today we had to have two trees taken down because they have died due to the ice storm. The tree cutter said they would continue to die over the next five years as there is hardly a tree in a 50 mile radius that still has a "top" in it.
My point is, you have my sympathy as I know how hard it is, but hang in there as it does return to normal eventually.

Super wet, cold and windy Halloween here... No snow though! Big storm hit the center of the island but we were spared on the coast. The rain let up for the kids to fill their bags. No weather would keep us in! I've trick or treated with a costume over a snowsuit plenty of times! LOL. Nice to be planning my ADRs for a sunny place though. Plus we are heading to Ottawa (I have meetings and the family is joining me) in a few days and the weather looks ok there. My DS still had to do his weekly homework and he was poisoned to have to get it done in two nights rather than four. LOL. He said, "I don't want to go to Disney if I'm gonna have homework!" I said he would have to do it anyway, AND go to school, AND not get to go back to Disney. Um, he changed his tune!

And look at my ticker! When I started it began with a 9!

And I feel the pain of you guts without power! We lost it for 5 days last fall and it SUCKED!

Wow!!!! I'm so sorry you had to go through that!!! Now they say 11/3/2011 at 11:00 pm. We shall see!

First of all prayers and thoughts going out to those without power. In Kentucky we remember and get nervous everytime they say wet and heavy snow is coming.

So saving money for our upcoming trip Joey said he would make his own costume. So he made his version of an Army man from Toy story. He is almost 13 so he had to make it cool looking.

Also this morning with the cold damp air my ankles were killing me so I put a small electric heater on the floor by my feet and well it did not stay there long because my two of dachshunds took over!

Then we also took our youngest furry child out for his first trick of treat. Stitch had a great time!

I am so embarassed! Just noticed in my pictures my capet needs to be vacumed and my puppies muddyed up the kitchen floor. Sorry for the mess in the pictures, we have a "lived in home" Haha!:laughing::laughing:

Oh My these pics are making me feel like the worst Mom ever!:guilty::guilty: My Dr. put me on Topimax to prevent migraines and I started this weekend. I have been totally out of it. DH depends on me to remember things like pumpkins.:headache: So Nathan did not get a pumpkin this year. We have been married 24 almost 25 years and I think this was our first year without a pumpkin. Not only that I totally forgot to even take a picture of Nathan in a costume. Again DH would never even think of that. If you ever saw pics from any of our vacations you would understand. It seems I am never there because I am always behind the camera.

I cannot believe how much that medicine was affecting me. I took myself off of it after trying to get him to school yesterday and realizing how out of it I was. I was scared to death. It did not wear off until about 2:30am.this morning. I have a clear head finally. I had lost all sense off taste, appetite, slurred speech, couldn't concentrate, and my legs and arms were going between numb and tingly. It was awful. The neurologist office was closed so I just left a message and hope to hear from them today. But I feel so bad for Nathan!! Thank goodness he has not said anything yet about the pumpkin. We meant to get one on Sunday and carve it. And I can't believe I didn't even think about getting his picture. Wondering what DH stands for now??;) Haha!

BTW,
In MD we would lose power all the time. It was awful. The worst was we had well water so when we lost power we lost water as well. Luckily at some point we bought a hottub. So when power went out we were able to sponge bathe with water that stayed somewhat warm for a few days from water from the hot tub. We had to keep water in the bath tubs to be able to flush our toilets. If we didn't fill our tubs in advance of power outage we were out of luck. Not fun! I think the longest we were without was 10 days without water and power. We did have a wood stove so that would help for the winter power outages.

Here in KC we have been lucky so far and have only lost power for less than 24 hours so far. Wonder if it has to do with underground power lines? I heard on the news that they have sent power crews from MO to help help with all of these power outages going on now. Hope you get your power soon.

I know it's a day late, but I wanted to share my grandson's costume. We went to a number of events for Halloween in the last few days and his costume was the favorite everytime. Mostly be the adults. Some children didn't know who he was.
