2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part III- DO NOT POST HERE- Summer/Fall

I laughed when I read your post because I had a similar conversation with my DH. We had gone to Beach Club for a photo session and when we arrived he looked at me and said "WHY are we not staying here?". He actually wanted to see if we could switch resorts right then and there! It didn't make much sense to me since we were leaving in 2 days. He then told our next trip would be at the Beach Club or he wasn't going....who am I to disagree:confused3

October 2012 isn't too far away, it's already October 2011. I've been planning my trip for almost 2 years and it's hard to believe I'm going next month!!!!!

Gotta go with it when it's love at first sight.

TWO YEARS?!?! Wowie, you go, girl! I'll be looking forward to reading your trip report.

I just meet Teena. :banana::banana::banana:

I'm jealous of all these Teena huggin people!

Love me some Teena!!!

Tell her Sue (mtbmom) said "hi! Also, please tell her that I shipped my phone book back to the Beach Club Villas after weeks of guilt! :rolleyes1

LOL!! To quote that line from the movie A Christmas Story:

Miss Shields: "Now I know that some of you put Flick up to this, but he has refused to say who. But those who did it know their blame, and I'm sure that the guilt you feel is far worse than any punishment you might receive. Now, don't you feel terrible? Don't you feel remorse for what you have done? Well, that's all I'm going to say about poor Flick."

Ralphie as Adult: [narrating] "Adults loved to say things like that but kids knew better. We knew darn well it was always better not to get caught."

suemom2kay, Let that be a lesson to you! ::yes::

Does anyone know if there is still construction going on at BC? We check in on the 15th.

Think you got lost on this fast moving thread. Latest reports say that the construction is still there. Moving on to YC as it winds down at BC. However, if you look back at some of the trip reports you will see it is nothing that is going to ruin your stay. If you find something outside your window is blocking your view, just ask to be relocated. If you need your quiet in the afternoon for a little nap and there is construction noise preventing it, just ask to be moved. If you think that the scaffolding is too close for comfort, just ask to be relocated to another area of the resort. Have a great trip to the BC!

Do you know when they are scheduled to complete renovations at YC? I seemed to have missed a trick because I'm not entirely sure what they're doing to BC and YC.

My understanding is that it is siding/painting and other maintenance on the outside of the buildings. The work has been moving around the BC resort, will start at the YC when the BC is finished, but there has been no published timetable of the work or where the work will be taking place at any given time.

Thanks! I would prefer to not see scaffolding outside our room, but if we do we're still at BC. Not a huge deal to us. I just wanted to know what to expect. I'm so happy just to have a room booked at BC. It took weeks of checking every day before something opened up for our dates. I can't believe it is coming up so soon!

Do you want us to put up fake dates??? I would hate to be the one to spoil the surprise![/QUOTE]

TKU, but we'll keep the real one's on the list, the fake one's are on the countdown clock, so that should work.

I finally caught up on this thread, just love, love, love it!!!!!!!!

1st question of many to come, I read that when flying with a bag of cereal to poke a hole in it. Does anyone know if this is also true for a regular box of cereal too? I'm planning on taking a suitecase full of cereal, snacks & stuff that we will bring down but won't come back with us, so that I have an empty suitcase for all the disney merchandise my dd will get (& some of mine too!!). I'm also thinking of bringing plastic bowls with us. I know the villa's come with paper bowls, but how sturdy are paper?

How do I get a ticker on my posts? Got 225 days to go!!

Thank you
Donna

Woo-hoo! Thanks for letting us know! Ain't she sweet?

Yeah!:cool1: I am so looking forward to meeting Teena on out trip.

Teena is wonderful, and sweet. Hopefully I get a picture with her today!!!!

Congratulations on your romantic Valentine's weekend trip!

But keeping it a secret? Judging from your anniversary gift episode, you keep a secret as well as Peter Pettigrew (nerdy HP reference), so I give it until November!

.

Yeah... that's probably a good bet... but I am determined not to blow the surprise this time around!:rotfl:

I only have to keep my mouth shut for 4 months... that shouldn't be hard....:rolleyes1

OMG I think my ticker starts with a SIX today!!!! How the heck did that happen???? :lmao: I am also celebrating my 40th anniversary of my first WDW trip - I remember being there, I remember the HM but not a whole lot else. I do remember walking on the rides.... The park was empty the day we were there!

Now I am obsessed with ADRs! This is my current list:

'Ohana - want to be able to watch Wishes from the beach afterwards.
Via Napoli
Tutto Italia - DHs father is Italian and he wants to try these restaurants.
Brown Derby Fantasmic package - we missed Fantasmic last trip!
Saana - the kid's would love eating with the view of the animals, but I can't say that they would love the food!
Cape May character breakfast
Le Cellier lunch, just 'cause
Chefs de France - want the kids to show off their French! They are both in French Immersion
Biergarten
Crystal Palace - I'm thinking character breakfast and get in the park early? DD still loves Winnie the Pooh

We are staying CL right now but I might downgrade, especially if we get free dining.

Comments, suggestions? We are going on a short 5 day trip to Ottawa (DH and kid's are accompanying me on a conference) and we leave on the 2nd. I have to have all my ADRs sussed out before the morning of the 1st because it's gonna be madness!!!

I need to get the Touring Plans worked out to give me an idea of best dates, etc. but I am waiting for the 2012 Unofficial Guide to come out on Kobo so I can get the discount for the online site. I don't want to be lugging it around! I bought the Colour Companion to give me my paper book fix.

I think you've got a great lineup, IMO. :thumbsup2 I'm still kicking myself that we missed out on our CP breakfast when we were just there. Not making that mistake twice! ( I love my Tigger, what can I say?;) )

Oooooh. This sounds interesting. Just please, please don't say that you're staying at BWI.

GL keeping the secret. I would have told already if it were me so I know what you mean about being a lousy secret keeper!

Hahahaha.... nope, we decided to give the other side of the World a shot and are staying at one of the Monorail resorts. That way we'll have pretty easy access to both MK and Epcot during our short trip.

:goodvibes

It really wasn't that bad when we were at YC. Just some scaffolding and workers during the week. I should also mention they didn't get started until about 9am on any given day, so unless you really wanted to sleep in, it wasn't a bother.

It was loud, though, with the compressors running for the painting / etc. So, if you are planning an afternoon nap, you might want to pack some earplugs :)

I'm also thinking of bringing plastic bowls with us. I know the villa's come with paper bowls, but how sturdy are paper?

When we stayed at Animal Kingdom Villas last year we used the paper bowls and they were pretty sturdy. They were more of a coated paper somewhere between standard paper dishes and plastic.

4 MORE DAYS!!!

Dee doesn't have any photo missions for me, but does anyone else have anything they'd like pictures of? We're staying in a studio villa, and have at least 1 full day scheduled just to explore the resort.

Been tweeking the "master plan" again (I'm way too "disney productive" on my days off). We are buying the DP since we are renting points from my sister for our trip in May. Would really like your input before making our ADR's. Also a few (*) we will be paying for or not using the dp on. How does it look? Any other suggestions? and would you use DP for castle breakfast and pay for Crystal Palace and Cheif Mickey's dinners? Price wise which one is the better deal on DP?

Captain's Grille
*Castle breakfast (have finger's and toe's crossed for this one)
Tutto Haila (hopefully, it's still there then)
Teppa Edo
*Rainforest
*Big River Grille & Brewery
Crystal Palace
Chief Mickey's
50's Prime Time
LeCellar (2 ts)
*Cape May Cafe (breakfast)

Thanks so much again, I really value you guys opinions!!

I am getting so excited about this trip and trying to get planned, prepared, etc. Meanwhile my Mom and Aunt/Uncle have booked a tropical vacation and want me to come.... 2 weeks before Disney!!!!! How do I decide whether or not to go???

I think this is a good question for the peeps on here who have kids and who've travelled a lot. Would your kids tolerate two trips in a row with little "normal" time in between? Or is it just too much?

For reference, my littles are almost 3 and 4.

I may be alittle late to chime it (but it certainly has never stopped me before! :rotfl:)

DS's first time flying happened when he was almost 2.5 years old to my brother's wedding on the East Coast. A short 3 weeks later he took his first trip to WDW (also a plane ride). And honestly, at the time, I was more worried about the new puppy being kenneled twice in one month than I was about him! I can happily report that both DS and the puppy did fine with both trips! The wedding was almost like a "warm up" for the vacation. He had a chance to fly, to sleep in a hotel for the first time etc. So when we went to Disney, he remembered all about the airport, flying, sleeping elsewhere etc. In all honesty, not taking another "big" trip for over a year was almost a disappointment to my budding jetsetter

Good luck with your decision! :wizard:

(Self Indulgent Side Note: 29 days!!! :cool1:)

YAY, just noticed youve started 2012 Noodle Swap.

Do you think "The Noodle Family" would like to spend some quality time with their cousins from across the pond May 25th-June 8th ? Im sure they'll have a jolly good time:yay:

*Rainforest

I can't say (yet) how things are at these places (though I have a lot of the same ADR's). But I was going to say if you are planning on paying OOP for this one, scout restaurants(dot)com for a cheap gift card. They don't expire and can go for $1 or $2 at the end of the month. I think you buy a $25 gift card (for $1 or $2) and then have to spend $35 there (so total roughly $11 or $12) compared to more. We're doing this with House of Blues.

My DH and I will be at BC in 21 days!!!!! :goodvibes:

If someone who is there now can tell me if there is a bounceback offer I would appreciate it. I figure if there is a good offer I will warn my DH now that I plan to book!!!!! :)

As of when we checked out (September 25th) there wasn't a bounceback offer. (We asked CM and called...no dice) but I get the feeling they were preparing a new offer at the time, so I'll cross my fingers for you!:goodvibes

If the Noodle family have not been, ahem, retired by then, I will totally be down with a noodle swap! May 1st to 11th!

:banana: It is official, we closed today, we are DVC owners!

So those who see this site right now. I will be getting off this site and calling reservations and canceling my "cash" reservations!

That includes a reservation for a 1 bedroom at BCV from 12/20-12/21, so I hope someone holding out for one bedroom will see this and grab it.

It kills me to give it up but at least we will have a studio 12/12-12/14!

I love this site and the family that you all have become so I hope someone here gets the reservation! Good Luck!!!!

:love::love::hug::dance3::yay::yay::woohoo::woohoo::cool1::cool1::cool1:

YAY!!! Congrats Heather!!! Super excited for you!!!
