Day 25 – Castaway Cay & Pirates in the Caribbean Party

TODAYS VIDEOS – Castaway Cay and Pirates in the Caribbean Party

For me, today was the highlight of the complete trip – Castaway Cay.

On waking up I looked out from our balcony and was greeted by a beautiful sunrise on the approach into Castaway Cay.

I moved up to the top deck to get a better view.

The time was around 7:45 and the sun was already quite warm. A crew who quickly had the ship docked ready for us to go ashore met us at the key side. As the final rope was secured, we were greeted with a blast of ‘Be our guest’ from the ships horn – a nice touch!

Sue and Emma visited Cabanas for some breakfast but I decided to give it a miss.

We left the ship at around 9:15 and to my disappointment, the Castaway Post Office was closed so we never managed to get our Post Cards stamped also, the planned parasailing excursion had been abandoned due to the pending tropical storms approaching. We managed to hop on a tram just as it was ready to leave and we were soon at the beach area. Martin and Wayne’s families were already there.

I went snorkeling for a few hours, taking pictures and video along the way. There are plenty artifacts scattered along the seabed to keep you occupied. The swim back to shore was tiring due to the receding tide.

I had a walk back towards the ship to see if the Post Office had opened and met a few people on the way.

Lunch was at Cookies BBQ, which offered a welcome break from the fierce sun. The usual activities of crab racing and the characters joining in the dance party, were in full swing. The rest of the day was spent in and out of the sea in an effort to stay cool.

All too soon, the inevitable arrived and it was time to say goodbye to the greatest place on earth and head back to the ship at around 16:30. We decided to walk back to savour every last minute of this special day.

Arriving back at our Cabin, we had been left some pirate bandanas in preparation for tonight’s Pirates in the Caribbean deck party. Showered and changed we headed off to tonight’s dining venue, which was in the Royal Palace.

Our waiter Ganesh, agreed that we could keep the menu as a souvenir, which we later got signed at our meeting with Captain Jack.

A ventriloquist was performing tonight in the theatre, however we decided to give it a miss and instead had a leisurely stroll around the ship. We visited shutters to select a few photographs to purchase and later went on deck to watch the final preparations for the Pirates party. At 10:30 the party started, with a super firework display, before being joined by Captain Jack who made a grand entrance from one of the funnels. This was later followed by a disco and a buffet on Deck 11.

We returned back to our Cabin at around midnight, ending a most memorable day.

I keep dropping hints to DH about going on a disney cruise for my 40th (3 years to go we shall see!)

Everybody should do at least one cruise, trouble is....it is addictive when you get the bug :goodvibes

We had a great time from start to finish, but time goes so quickly. The perfect reason to book another ;)

A perfect Day.
Castaway Cay is the highlight of the whole 4 weeks. Unfortunately, our friends who got on the ship as we got off, did not make Castaway Cay due to the bad weather. I would have been gutted :scared1:

Great pictures:thumbsup2
Looked like you were the last ones to leave the beach! Can't say I blame you though it really is fantastic there - especially when they do the 2-for-1 cocktails:goodvibes

Hmmm, looked like such a lovely day. You might be on target to get finished this trippie before it's time to start this years. (no pressure, like)

There were not many left on the beach when we departed. Is the 2 for 1 cocktails at a specific time or all day?
Must remember for next year :thumbsup2

Your photos are just wonderful
Castaway Cay is total paradise :)

what a lovely day and fab pictures too :goodvibes

Your photos sum up how wonderful CC is, wish I was there

It is difficult to justify Castaway in photos.....you just have to see it with your own eyes :goodvibes

 I think I will make this one in time, but not sure of trippie plans for this year yet. I may do live updates if the wifi is any good, seems a lot less hassle ;)

wonderful day, fab pictures as always. :goodvibes

I love to be able to add a cruise to our next holiday. would be great to try a short one before we go one an Alaskan one. :)
