Day 13 – Typhoon Lagoon and Chefs de France
Today was going to be a part re-run from our day at Typhoon Lagoon, since we had our previous visit cut short due to bad weather. We met up with Martin, Wendy and the gang around 8:30 am, drove over to Typhoon Lagoon ready for rope drop. Today the weather was a lot brighter and the large crowd waiting reflected this. We both went our separate ways to grab sun loungers. Martin opted for shade whilst we went near to the waters edge. Shortly after laying out our towels I was aware of the sun beds moving closer and closer together. This turned out to be some rude American who was insistent on fitting his party of 6 into a space no larger than a phone box! I had a few words with him stating that our loungers were where we wanted them and not where he would like them. After that we met up with Martin & co and made our first visit to Crusher n Gusher. We managed to get all 3 ride done in a short space of time and swiftly moved over to Storm Slides. We managed to persuade Abi to ride for the first time and after this there was no stopping her. Next up was Keehaul Falls and then onto a couple of circuits of the lazy river. Returning back to the beds, we were shocked to find one of our towels had been placed onto another of our sunbeds and someone else was lying on the vacated sunbed. The person assured us that no towel was on when he arrived. I somehow believed him since the American parties whom I had earlier conflict with were sitting listening with a smug grin. I was quickly reaching boiling point so decided to move near to where Martin was sitting and prevent any chance of me being ejected out of a Disney park!
We all spent sometime in and out of the wave pool before deciding it was time for food. We headed over to Leaning Palms for lunch.
Nigel – Pulled Pork Sandwich with Fries – Cheesecake – Diet Coke
Sue – Chicken Wrap with Fries – Cheesecake – Water
Emma – Hotdog with Fries – Chocolate Cake – Diet Coke
Midway through the afternoon we decided we had had enough so we made our way back to OKW. The rest of the afternoon was spent chilling out before getting ready for our ADR tonight at Chef de France.
On leaving OKW at around 4:30, the car was showing an outside temperature of 99F.
We arrived at Epcot in plenty of time and so had a leisurely stroll around the world in a clockwise loop. Just as we were approaching America, Emma informed us that she had got blisters developing on her feet. We managed to buy a small pack of plasters from the kiosk in America. It was here that we were given 2 x $1 coins in our change. This was a first time seeing these for me.
A long stop was also spent in China, since this is one of my favourite countries.
Arriving at Chef de France we were greeted by a large queue waiting in the foyer, however shortly after checking in we were shown to our table in the middle of the restaurant. Our server tonight was Sophie. She explained each item on the menu then left us to make our choices.
Nigel – Lobster Bisque – Salmon – Profiteroles – Diet Coke
Sue – French Onion Soup – Short Braised Ribs with Pasta – Crème Brulee – Diet Coke
Emma – Chicken and Roast Vegetables – Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sauce – Diet Coke
The food was thoroughly enjoyable and served at a leisurely pace. We left the restaurant and continued our loop around the world, leaving just before the fireworks started. It was back to OKW and an early night for all.
Coming up next – Tax Free Shopping and California Grill
