2011: The Year of the FOOD 5 Trips Worth of Dining Reviews! UPDATE 11/23

I am so behind. Ah well, at least I was there for this stuff. :P I wanna go to 1900 again. It's just so goooddddd.

Hahaha it's okay :) No problemo. And I know me toooo. It was extremely delicious.

really glad to hear a favorable review of 1900 PF! We had a really terrible dinner there almost 3 years ago and I vowed to never return. Well, DD wanted to eat with Cinderella on her birthday and after the bad reviews of the castle, I wasn't willing to spend that much money (or DDP credits). We also tried Akershus a couple trips ago and just didn't care for the menu. So back to 1900 we go next week. Your review has given me hope! :goodvibes Looking forward to more!

I'm glad I could provide you with one! I'm so sorry you had a bad experience there. It sounds like 1900 PF is the perfect solution to what your daughter wants/what you guys want to spend and eat, so I REALLY hope you have a good time! Have a magical trip!

Akershus was our breakfast destination on our last morning of our January trip. :( We surprised Vickie by going there - she had no idea we were going to a pricness breakfast! We got our picture with Belle in her yellow dress before we ate, and then Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White came to our table!

Overall we were very pleased with the breakfast selection here. There were SO many delicious pastries.. I couldn't decide which ones to get! They were all very fresh and appropriately flaky.

My favorite thing at the entire buffet, though, was the yogurt, granola, and blackberries. I'm pretty sure I had about two bowls of that.

Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the Potato Casserole which was :mickeybar Kristen's Food of the Day. :mickeybar But apparently, that is very good. So I advise you all to test it out.

Akershus was a great spot for breakfast, and I oftentimes recommend it! It's a very nice substitute if you can't get into Cinderella's Royal Table or if you only want to spend one Table Service credit.

Lotus Blossom Cafe
January 19th, 2011

Lotus Blossom Cafe is China's counter service restaurant. I really like how it is set up. It has very unique tables and booths - very nicely themed. The food is great too! The only thing is that they don't have Lo Mein noodles. So don't expect to get any when you come here. However, that doesn't mean the food isn't fantastic!

Shrimp Fried Rice:

dsc0883m.jpg

This is what I got... and I REALLY want to get it again! It was delightful! It was hot and fresh, and the little shrimp pieces were so yummy! Also, I'm not a huge Egg Roll person, but this one was good.

Orange Chicken:

dsc0884st.jpg

I believe Kristen got this one, and she really liked it as well! I really don't think you can go wrong here.

Strawberry Red Bean Ice Cream:

dsc0885c.jpg

If you have been to Nine Dragons and you FELL IN LOVE with Strawberry Red Bean Ice Cream (like I did) ... YOU CAN GET IT AT LOTUS BLOSSOM CAFE TOO! That pretty much made my life. I absolutely love this ice cream so much. It has a unique flavor to it that is sweet and delicious and truly amazing.
And you want to know the best thing?! Not that I ever care how many calories are in my food at Disney... (but this was on the container) there are only like 110-130 calories in that entire container of ice cream! I was overjoyed. I ate it all. SO GOOD!

Behind, again. Well Akershus is like one of the best character breakfasts EVER. And I loooovee that casserole.

Lotus Blossom is beautiful. Everything there is seriously so delicious. I think I need to go there every trip or I am very thrown off. :P

I don't often see pictures/reviews of Lotus Blossom. Looks good! And to think, we've always just passed right by. Thanks for sharing.

That's okay! I'm behind too :p It's been like a week since I've updated this thing! I know Akershus is FANTASTIC! I love it there :) And I love that it's only one TS credit. Thank goodness. I wish I would have tried the casserole!
Mmm I know. I really want to go there again on my next trip. It's SO good!

It is very good! I didn't know about it until Kristen recommended it in January. It's like a hidden gem. You should definitely try it out sometime! :)

HELLO French Food. (And HELLO French Boys who were working there! ;) )

We made a quick stop here to use up some snack credits before we had to go home. This was my first time in this bakery and WOW it was beautiful. I wish I could try one of everything!

Croissant:

dsc0894m.jpg

I ended up getting a plain old croissant... but I absolutely LOVE those. They are so delicious and flaky and perfect. :cloud9: I ended up saving it for my breakfast the next morning... to ease the post disney depression.

This is what Kristen got! I didn't try any of it, but she loved it! It looked absolutely delicious!

Mickey Rice Krispie Treat:

dsc0898mk.jpg

Right before we left our January trip, we had a couple extra dining credits to use up. What better snack to get than A MICKEY RICE KRISPIE!?!? Ahhh it's one of the most delicious snacks on property. :cloud9: It is a pretty densely packed rice krispie treat, but that is not at all a bad thing! They taste so sweet. The tops are dipped in chocolate and covered in sprinkles, and that is my favorite part. Such a delicious snack! Yum, yum, yum! :lovestruc

Olivia's Cafe (Lunch)
February 19th, 2011

dsc0965g.jpg

dsc0967p.jpg

Our first meal on our February trip was at Olivia's Cafe. I used to stay at Old Key West on the majority of our family vacations when I was young, so I am really emotionally attached to this resort. It had been about 5 or 6 years since I have been there, so going back was really like going "home." I was so excited!

This is also one of the FEW Disney restaurants (possibly the only restaurant) that I'm comfortable going to as a walk up.

This is what the interior of the restaurant looks like:

dsc0970pg.jpg

Now for the food!

Chocolate Milkshake:

dsc0973m.jpg

This was Jonathan's milkshake. He let me eat the whipped cream and cherry though (and maybe a few spoonfuls of milkshake :p haha) and YUM it was delicious!

Shrimp Pasta:

dsc0976r.jpg

This was DELICIOUS! Shrimp and Pasta are literally two of my TOP favorite foods, so this dish was absolutely perfect for me! It was huge though. I don't think I finished it. I really really loved it though! SO GOOD!

Key West Burger:

dsc0977z.jpg

This is what my Mom ordered! She really loved it... and wow, it looks delicious!

Turkey Club Sandwich:

dsc0978m.jpg

My Dad ordered the Turkey Club Sandwich. He said it was okay... but the turkey seemed like it was just your generic packaged turkey you could get at the grocery store. So it wasn't really fresh. He wasn't extremely impressed, but it was alright.

Jerk Chicken Sandwich:

dsc0979i.jpg

This is what Jonathan ordered. I don't remember what he said about it at all... but I think he liked it!

Did you ever go to Olivia's when they had the character breakfast? I think it was June of 1993. Daughter and her girl friend ate maybe 4 or 5 bites of the waffle. They were both 8 years old and seeing and hugging the characters was more improtant to them then eatting :). I am thinking it was the only DVC at this time also. I would go to bed where each night I would tell my husband "Is this not the greatest place?" Any way following along :)

Aww no I didn't. I was born in May 1993 so that was when I was REALLY little. I do remember seeing pictures of it on the wall in Olivia's waiting area, though. That's so cute though I bet they loved it :) It sounds adorable. And yeah I think it was the only DVC back then! It's crazy how much has changed! And aww that's awesome... it really is the greatest place! My parents would always say that when we stayed there when I was little! It's wonderful.

Thanks for being here I hope you enjoy! :wizard:

Woah I missed a lot!

Ahh my Sacristain. French boys.

Mickey rice krispie. <33 I'm craving one now.

I really want to go to Olivia's! I think I've been for breakfast like 92075 years ago but I don't remember!! At least that's what Dave tells me. I wanna goo it looks delicious.

Oh My Mickey. I can not even describe how divine that Shrimp Pasta looks. I am seriously ready to tear through this computer screen and grab some of that. ;) Ugh. I am soooo craving some Olivia's right now. I've never been there, and truthfully, I didn't even know it existed til I read about it in your Family TR. Can I just say one word?? Iamsototallymakingmyparentstakeustherenexttrip. It stinks though because we are on DP this next time and we already have our ADRs...and I'm not sure they will be willing to switch just because I have one of my Disney spaz attacks. I tend to have those a lot...and if they listened to me every time, then this world would have been overcome by Disney by now. Which I would be perfectly okay with...but still. ;) Keep up the updates, Jess!

Glad to see your Garden Grill post. We are eating there for the first time next week. After seeing the pics I can't wait!
