The 2011 rack rates are now out and Disney is now charging more for the days around a holiday like July 1 - 3. I wonder if they are going to use the same concept when they release the 2012 point charts.

This is just my opinion, but I don't think they'll do a holiday premium for DVC resorts on points, regular non-DVC resort points may increase for the holiday, though.

Since DVC is basically pre-paid, unless they've seen a huge spike in demand for DVC at that time, there is no advantage to re-allocating the charts yet again just to try to match the cash seasonal increases. Remember that DVC seasons really don't truly mirror the cash seasons anyway.

I guess I'll ask here too.

Where are you seeing the 2011 Rack Rates posted?

I see that Mousesavers is showing the 2010 ones at:

http://www.mousesavers.com/dvcresorts2010.html

But I don't get anything when I enter:

Thank you.

The WDW website just started online booking for '11 a couple of days ago. If you go to their site, you can price out days in different seasons. The various websites may take a bit to update '11 prices.

One reason I love DVC! Mom and Dad are going to the Beach Club for a week in March-$3700 for a standard room. Meanwhile I can stay at BCV for the same # of points as when we bought in 2002. It wouldn't take too many of those $3700 trips to pay for our contract.

With DVC, if they increase one date or room category they have to decrease another. The total point chart has to stay in balance. The 2 weeks around Easter & the week around Christmas are always in the top point category. The whole month of July is already in the second highest category.

They did this last year too. Actually, they've cut down, almost in half, the number of "seasons" this year. Last year, each season for many of the resorts had a weekend and a weekday rate. They appear to have gotten rid of that, at least for some resorts. (I only checked BLT.) They also have gotten rid of the special categories for the days around Columbus Day, President's Day, and Easter, although as you note, they have retained the special category for the days around July 4. They have also retained special pricing for the days around New Years Day and Thanksgiving. The other interesting changes are that there is only one "holiday" week this year instead of 2. They have retained two "regular seasons," but as noted they seem to have gotten rid of weekend v. weekday pricing. And they have created a new "Value 2" season, which in my mind was overdue. It's always been puzzling to me that rack rates drop to the lowest category of the year in the third week in July, which I would think would be prime travelling months. In fact, it's still magic season for DVC. Now, rack rates are still relatively low, but not the lowest category -- that's still right after New Years and early fall.

And, most notably, they now have just a single "Fall season," which runs all the way from the end of value in September through the beginning of holiday, which is Dec. 22.
