2011 Free Dining is Extended! New dates as of 8/3

Thanks for the info - I definitely like the idea of looking at the pics first, then deciding on purchasing the CD. Thanks again.

My reservation invoice only shows the memory book - it does not say anything about the CD. Do you know if this is written anywhere?

No beacuse you are only getting the book. For some reason people keep throwing the cd into the mix. It has nothing to do with the offer.

Make no mistake about it...

If you book this free dining offer you will pay $90.90 UP FRONT and you are paying for ONLY the BOOK-- you will get NO cd unless you order it separately.

I agree - all the conflicting info needs to go! I finally was able to actually see the offer and it reads "book" not "cd".

Sooooo. While talking with a CM, I read the bit about the promotion code being given later which will remove the price of the book. . .
He agreed with my understanding that it removed the 90.90 I spent. . .
BUT this is not a credit later--this is a code so I can use get the book I've paid for and not pay again. . .
Clarifications?

So can you opt out of not getting the book?

you cannot opt out of paying for the book -- just like you cannot opt our of buying tickets or getting a Disney hotel room on this promotional package --these are all components of the promotional package you are paying for in order to get Free Dining (you're paying for the room, park tickets & photopass book in the price of your package...they're giving you Free Dining on the package.)

what you can opt out of is actually claiming the photopass book...but you've already paid for it.

Every thing I am reading just is confusing me more !!!:rotfl2:I am glad the dates announced were not what I needed for my friend ;)she is going in June !!I already have free dining form a promotion ending last December and there was no book/cd involved :lmao::lmao:

Okay, at first I was a little bummed that my pin (for July) only gave me QSDP at a moderate and this FD is DDP at a moderate...but I don't have to buy the photo book, so I guess I will stop whining. :lmao:

BTW, I got the cd AND photobook in 2009. You have to make it pretty quickly after your vacation or it expires (it was great for a procrastinator...I gave the photobook to the ILs and I was going to make myself a scrapbook...still have not done the scrapbook :lmao:) The book is lovely though :goodvibes

I am planning my first trip to WDW in December. If I book my trip and make ADR's and then free dining becomes available will I be able to get it and if so how would I go about getting it. I have heard you have to cancel and rebook which I'm hoping isn't true! Would it be possible to switch to a delux resort to get the DDP after I've already booked? Thanks for any info I'm clueless!

Oh that stinks... We aren't going this year, but I can't believe the timeframe is so short. Are you flying Southwest? Maybe you could go down one day early. :confused3

No can't change, we are on a discount airline that only flies out of our city only twice a week, so we don't have any wiggle room. Fingers crossed for an extension. Checking in on Sept 24th was $600 cheaper then checking in on our day the 25th because of FD promo. That's a bit depressing...like I said 1 lousy day and we missed the FD.

If you book directly through Disney, and they offer free dining later for your travel dates, then all you have to do is call the Disney reservation number and tell them you want to get the free dining. You can also switch to a different resort as long as their is a room available. There are only a certain number of rooms per special offer available at each resort. 9 times out of 10, you can switch with no problem.

Hope ya'll have a great time.

If you want to stay deluxe you might want to keep an eye out for room discounts too. People usually say the room discounts offer more saving then free dining when staying at deluxe resorts. If staying at a moderate or value the free dining may be better...you have to crunch the numbers. :goodvibes

I feel your pain. We have ZERO wiggle room as we continue on to Wisconsin the day we leave to move my college bound son into his dorm, which is a set date.

We arrive August 24 and out August 30 and I am soooooooo annoyed that this promo won't work for us even though we will be there while it is happening.

I hope you have a wonderful trip.

What I am not understanding is why ANYONE here is complaining about the book in general... I just saved well over $900 20 min ago when I applied free dining to my package.. Why in Mickey's name would I care that I am paying $90 for a WONDERFUL photo book after they just took $900 OFF my bill?!?!?!?!?!?!? I said "yay!! that is awesome!!!!"... You can either get your photopass pics put in it, or upload your OWN into it, up to 20 pages, and then they will ship it to you for free!! I am REALLY trying to wrap my head around why anyone is complaining about this, it is AWESOME!!!! :woohoo:

Oh and editing before I get roasted over a flame... It is JUST the book.. I had mentioned how I had been planning on buying a prepaid photopass before the trip anywho. Now I get a free book to put them in.. But she said you can ALSO upload your OWN pics into the book for free, without any additional purchase.

Really? At $900 savings, you are saving WAY more than the average person. I am saving about $70. So yes, I would prefer to save even more and not get the photo book that I would not have otherwise purchased.

Well you all may think I am silly but I paid $22 MORE for the package (I had a %off room before switching).

There is no way I could make up a half decent scrapbook for that price. The $22 includes shipping, which for me, being in Canada, would normally cost $19.95.

I went to WDW in 2008 and still have not printed all of my pics, let alone put them in a scrapbook. I did buy a Disney style scrapbook package to put them in....it cost at least $50 and it is still sitting empty. :lmao:

This time I will have a beautiful book of memories :)

My DD is saving over $540 on her package :thumbsup2

I agree with you. :goodvibes Even if I did pay for the book, I'm happy to get it! With the amount of money I'm saving on food, I have a little room to play around and that is something I would personally be happy to spend the money on. Scrapbooking does get expensive!

Hmm...I should ask my travel agent if I paid the extra for the shipping as well! She never mentioned anything but I don't want to double-pay. I guess I could just have it shipped to family in the states if it comes down to it...:)

If I had save $900, I probably wouldn't be complaining either. But as another writer stated - not everyone is saving that much money. While I agree, something is better than nothing, it would have been nicer to have had that extra $90 to spend how I wanted. Not trying to sound like a mean person, but not everyone's financial situation is the same.

Everytime we have used the free dining discount it has saved us between $1,200 and $1,500.00. I also think the complaining over the $90.00 photo book is a bit much. I'm just glad they actually came out the the FD discount. They could have skipped it completely and given more of those measley 10 and 15% room discounts.
